just got back from a 2 day stay at Cypress Pointe, my first stay since rehab. My daughter & I have stayed there numerous times before in a 2 bedroom but this time stayed with my BF & his 2 teenage kids too.

Here is a couple of silly things we ran into that might help others:

#1 Son (16 yr old) tried to take a shower in the hallway bathroom with the tub/shower combo, he could not figure out how to get the shower to flow after turning on the water & called his dad in to help, dad couldnt figure it out also. I called maitenance cause I *thought* my BF was smart when it comes to the mechanics of taking showers away from home as he has been in the Navy for 17 years & traveled ALL OVER. Maitenance didnt come for at least 30 minutes so I decided to check it out. I figured it out based on memory from past stays once I got in there.
~To make the shower work - turn on the water & pull down the round circle on the spicket from where the tub water flows from (they were trying to make it spin for some silly reason). Maitenence says quite a few people cant figure out how to make it work too.

#2 BF wanted a jacuzzi bath as his back was hurting, we got the tub all filled, adjusted the knobs for the strength of bubbles & pressed the on/off button on the tub between the bubble buttons, nothing happened, pressed it again & again & still nothing. Low & behold, there is an on/off switch (on a light plate) near the toilet, make sure that one is switched to on too! :rolleyes1

#3 I could not get any of the outlets in the master bathroom to work (the ones near the sinks as well as the one on the wall beside the jacuzzi tub) we clicked the only little black/red buttons on the outlets that we could find in the master bedroom/bathroom & nothing seemed to help.
~When maitenance finally made it, he said the button had to be pressed on one of the outlets in the bathroom in the hall to make the outlets in the master bathroom work - I sure didnt think of that! Why all the way on the opposite end of the condo? I could see the ones in the same room but not several rooms away! :rolleyes1

#4 Several of the channels were not working on the tvs in the master bedroom & in the living room, maitenance had to reset the dish network box located somewhere in the building's facility maitenance. Just give them a call if not all channels are working or if you get something on your screen that says to "click select" cause your remote will not have a select button that will make anything on the dish work!

#5 The little tv in the 2nd bedroom does not have cable/satellite, it does have a dvd player so be sure to bring dvd movies for the kiddos or whoever might be staying in the 2nd bedroom!

#6 If you plan on doing a load of laundry, be sure to bring a dryer sheet. They supply 1 single load box of Tide but no dryer sheets & the water in FL is hard, your clothes will come out stiff from the washer. Your clothes will come out of the dryer all static-y.

#7 we got in way later than originally planned & I immediatley wanted to go to Winn Dixie (which is only a few hundred feet from the resort) for sodas, water, munchies & such. I asked the front desk when checking in if they knew what time Winn Dixie closes & they said 10pm (we checked in at 10:30pm).
~I decided to check for myself & they are actually opened till midnight! :cheer2:

Very useful hints! I'm sure I'll end up at Cypress Pointe again sometime. I do like this resort, especially at hotelkingdom prices.

Do you have to do any kind of mandatory time share presentation at this resort... or do they hound you at all about going to an optional presentation??

neither.

just say you aren't interested in buying.

you might get one or two phone calls - but no big hassle.

Just to add to what Spicey said, the call you get will actually be to invite you to come pick up your "welcome package". Just say thank you and leave it at that. That's the "hook" to try to get you down for the timeshare presentation.

I knew that thanks to these boards and never went after "the welcome package". They also have a desk set up in the lobby when you check in to offer the "welcome package" then.

P.S. I did the same thing in Phase II with the jacuzzi tub. Fortunately, DD has a friend with a jacuzzi tub in their house and knew that they had a light switch that had to be flipped first (in Phase II, it's over the towel rod across from the tub).

Anyone know if the tubs are on some kind of timer?? DH was using ours one night and it just quit after a while. Tried it again the next night and it seemed to work fine, didn't turn off, but may not have stayed in as long the second time? Never had that happen in Phase I, but then again, may not have stayed in as long. Happen to anyone else??

I stayed in mine quite awhile and never had that happen (of course, I might not have been there as long as your husband). :confused3

They do not hound you at all to do a timeshare presentation. Booking through Hotelkingdom does NOT require to attend a presentation either. However, we were only in Orlando to hang out/change of scenery so when they called our unit the next day after check in, they offered us $150 in Visa gift cards (turned out to be 3 Simons Mall Visa logo cards that can be used virtually anywhere that accepts Visa). We did the presentation just after checking out, it lasted just under 2 hours but got our $150 in visa cards as promised. the presentation wasnt too bad, I've been to quite a few other presentations before, you just have to be strong with your NO, no matter how many people come over to offer you a better deal.

Thanks so much for the information. We are going to be staying at Cypress Pointe Phase I in a few weeks. Do they allow room requests, and if they do, can anyone recommend where to ask for?

We were at Phase II, but you check in at the same place. I made my requests about a month ahead of time and then followed up on them a few days before we left.

We had 3 of the 2BR units. I requested bottom floor and close to each other. All of the units were bottom floor. Two of them were side by side, and one of them was one building over (very close).

Thanks for the response. I've been looking around quite a bit and it doesn't sound like there are really any bad rooms since they remodeled. I guess I'll just be calling to confirm the reservation!
