A Couple of DL questions

My husband and I are considering going to Disneyland over Thanksgiving break and having been there only once, I have a couple questions.

1. Aside from price, what's the difference between staying on-site and staying off-site?

2. There's a chance I might be 3-4 month pregnant during the trip. What will I be able to do, given that I my favorite rides include Space Mountain, Big Thunder, etc.?

3. Does anyone know if the Tropicana Inn runs an airport shuttle? If not, what shuttle do most people use?

Thanks!

1. Convenience. When staying on property, you are within walking distance and won't have to worry about getting lost or anything like that, since there will never be a point where you are far from a DLR cast member to assist you. However unless this is a special occasion, staying property can be just as good of an experience as staying on property. The Disney hotels will give you the complete experience of a Disney vacation, but is not essential to you having great vacation (whereas going to WDW, you MUST stay on property. Not the case in DLR).

2. Congrats of the baby! However it will hinder your experience quite a bit. You will not want to ride any of the rollercoasters while pregnant, including your favorites. But there are so many other things to do that are not turbulent. One would be to see the Aladdin musical in DCA. It is a great show and the Genie's modern jokes really makes for a unique experience everytime you see it. Also favorites like Pirates, Haunted, Jungle Cruise, and most of the Fantasyland rides will be fine for you, too. Just nothing turbulent. :)

3. Never stayed at Tropicana. So idk anything about them. You would want to contact them personally.

- Multiple Magic Mornings
- Early access to DCA (in the past)
- Two extra Fastpasses per person - not sure if this is always or sometimes
- Use of Disney Vacation Planning services to make reservations for you
- Free transfer of store purchases to your room
- Close proximity to Monorail which will save some walking

Nope.

This problem in very well explained in the Theme Park Insider book (it's on the kindle store, nice reading and a low price).
While the ride itself is not too much a risk when everything is ok, there are some circumstances when it's a great risk for a pregnant woman: emergency brakes. When there is problem with the ride and they must activate the emergency brakes, the ride will stop from riding speed to zero in one or two seconds and guests will be thrown against the lap bar with quite an impact. You can imagine that it's not good for the little baby.
So even if the ride does not seem too extreme, follow the ride restrictions guidelines, because if a restriction is there there it's for a good reason.
