a couple of cutbacks we noticed

Interesting. We noticed changes in the park maps this spring like the ones you mentioned. We don't need to even look at them anymore after so many trips, but we always grab a couple as we leave the park to bring home. I have a collection of a few hundred park maps, collected over the years. It will be nice to look back and remember that you were at the park for a certain thing. You can also see how the parks change. We have one from the week before Mr. Toad's Wild Ride closed.

We were there in June and the water was still Dasani, and unless things have changed in the last three months, they still were useing the sports cap. We are very big water drinkers in the park so we did buy quite a few bottles, and at that time they were $2.00 a bottle. We did always purchase the water from one of the vending carts, if that would have made a difference, I don't know.
I was there in Aug and they still had the Sports Cap, I know, as I have trouble Opening it, and have to un-screww the WHOLE cap in order to get a drink of water. :sad2: ;)

also this person???????????

We just got back last night. It is Dansani water. And at the POLY, they also sold a HUGE size, looked like a liter, for $3.50. I didn't see that size at the parks.

Dasani water is a product of the Coca-Cola company, so I doubt they will change the brand of water they sell.

I know what you mean about the Zephyrhills. We are headed to US/IOA next week and I guess we'll have to take a case of Dasani with us. DH is pretty much addicted to it, I don't even know if he'll drink another brand. I also remember the large bottles at the resort shops, bought a few to have in the room fridges.

for water this time we packed a case in our suitcase. This is the suitcase we use for souvenirs on the way back. So, we had fresh water everyday and it didn't cost us $2.50 a bottle. I prefer to spend my extra cash on presents for me :goodvibes

Thanks for the info...

think I'll bring a couple of sports caps as well

In Feb they had the BIG MAPS. I kept several and gave them away to others going WDW. They gave me replacements and I was BUMMED at the smaller size! I can see they would be easier to open and look at though. It's just I would like to have kept my BIG SIZED AK one -- so I was bummed out that I gave it away!

I did keep my larger sized MK map. It has Stitch on it and was the actual map that DH carried with us and opened up a zillion times while he directed me to which ride we would go to next and where the restaurants I had picked out were. What a great time and great DH  ! (I did all the other planning and ressies!)

Anyway, I am not too disappointed with the new maps - just that I don't have a big one of AK anymore.

I don't do water ... I only do beer. :teeth: (hee hee - just teasing (kinda) but I am not a water connoisseur so don't have any opinion on that.)

hi
just a thought - why buy the water at the parks when you can buy 12 aquafina 24 oz bottles at 7/11 for $5 ?

For me, I don't want to spend an hour leaving the park and driving to 7-11 to get some water. Nor do I want to haul a bunch of bottles around (and let them get warm) for when I get thirsty later. I just stop and buy a bottle of cold water. Just easier for me.

The water is still Dasani, but they were using the screw-tops last time I was there (end of August.) I liked the old tops.

The new park maps are no problem for me...I don't need a map.

But the new maps will be of almost no help to someone there for the first time, and I thought it was really rotten of Disney to not have decent maps for them. More people will be getting lost and having to ask for directions. I think that stinks.

Disney will figure out one day that all of this cost cutting is going to bite them in the buttinski.

1) The maps and water changes ARE NOT a money-saver for Disney.
2) Both are supplied to Disney for free.
3) Kodak and Coke can save money, but not Disney.

Even better sign up at staples - use the rewards card and have cases deliverd to your hotel for 5.99 and no shipping fee or tax. We are having 2 cases of 24 bottles each delivered for under 12.00. It will be waiting when we arrive.

Do you mean Dasani? Please don't tell me they switched water brands too as a way of saving money!

Yes I did mean Dasani. Sorry about that.

I am pretty sure the 24 ounce sport bottle use to cost $2.50. I mentioned to my dh last week that they dropped the price of water and I was pretty sure that it use to be 24 ounce bottles.

Hi,
No the water always cost $2 and the soda was $2.50. Not a big deal but I would have perferred to see the price go up to $2.50 and keep the 24oz bottles.

The water size change doesn't surpise me. Companies everywhere are doing it, mostly the food manufacturers themselves. Rather than raising the price on an item which people quickly notice, they make the serving size smaller which is harder to detect.

THis does not apply to beverage. the product cost very little. just a few pennies. the bottle and distribution cost the most. this is why you can buy a gallon of water, for about the same price or less than a 20oz bottle in most places.
