A couple fireworks pics...

Tara and I ran back to MK this evening when I heard indeed POTC was having a soft opening today. We kept our fingers crossed that it would still be open when we go there. We arrived a bit before 8pm, took the train to Frontierland, grabbed BTMR FP, and headed for POTC . It was great, I like the additions. Unlike many othe rude folks in our boat and the next I did not take any FLASH photos to share!

We then went back to BTMR, I rode once - I don't dislike the ride, but I don't feel well when I exit.... Tara decided she wanted to ride again standby.. again, and again, and again and again and again - the last time was when I told her I was going to watch the fireworks from there. When she got off the last time - she said it was AWESOME watching the fireworks while she rode!

Of course they are not as dramatic without the castle, and I had not planned on watching the fireworks, so stll no tripod. I propped myself up against the fence, put the camera in Fireworks mode, and set the timer, hoping for the best. You can't hear the music, so I was a little lost, and it took a little bit to realize where they were going off..... in the end I got two that I really like....

We headed out of the park after the fireworks, stopping long enough to ride JC (our first time at night) and Tara rode the Magic Carpets. I grabbed my hot dog at Casey's and then the worst part of the visit... the EXIT - it actually takes longer around closing time to get out of the park, to the TTC (whether by Monorail or ferry), to the tram and to our car then it does to DRIVE home!

I hopped in the pool for a few minutes (I love the pool at night) and with great anticipation downloaded my pics... some of the other nighttime shots I had hoped would be good - but where not... I still need PRACTICE.

I'm leaving for Orlando later this morning -- the car is coming to get us in an hour, and what am I doing? Reading the boards!

We'll be there for the 4th, and for a couple weeks beyond, so I'll have LOTS of opportunties to take really awful fireworks pictures. And maybe one or two good ones? I'm looking forward to putting my new Pentax through its paces.

Meantime, you're raising the bar for the rest of us!

Thanks! I hope you have a wonderful trip! They are doing Fantasy in the Sky on the 3rd and 4th instead of Wishes.

I don't think I have ever seen them, but I am no so sure it's worth dealing with the crowds.... (not even so much in the park, but LEAVING is always such a bear... it takes us more time to get from MK to the TTC to our car, then it takes to drive to our house!

I can't wait to see your vacation photos. I love my Canon S2, and am getting better with it, but I am now dreaming of a DSLR. Other things are more important right now though!!!

I guess so many of the fireworks pics we see here have the castle, so when I first saw these all though I was VERY PLEASED under the circumstances, I have just seen so many other posted by Kelly and others that these don't seem to compare!!!

Yeah, the Big Exit on the 4th is the main reason we're staying at the Contemporary the first few nights. Easier to walk to our room then deal with all the transportation hassles. And, of course, all that togetherness.

Attitude is everything. I think if we're prepared for the mob, and know what we're getting into, and aren't in any hurry to get a lot done, and willing to sort of go with the flow, we'll be okay and have a good time.

At this point, after a dozen Disney trips over 10 years, we can afford to be patient.

I am pretty patient when leaving but when Tara (9) hits a certain point of fatigue.. it's not pretty! Last night I actually would have stayed for the 11pm Spectromagic - great seats at the train station at 11pm, but she was fading fast! I dream of being on of the last ones on Main Street some night!!

this is a little off topic for the post, but we WERE the last people on Main Street one night a couple of trips ago, and the pictures I took of the kids didn't come out

they are kind of blurry, and i am not nearly good enough with photoshop or any other program to try and fix it


But it was awesome being the last ones left in the park!!!!!

I think we will stay home on Tuesday, but head back to MK on Monday - I see on the fireworks schedule that they are doing Fantasy in the Sky rather than wishes - we have not seen that show.

I'll be staying home too. I'm lucky enough to live very close to the park where our town sets off their big 4th of July fireworks show. I can see the whole thing from my front yard. I'm using it as a test run for my next trip to WDW.

In past years my neighbor has set off a very respectable display right in our cul de sac.... not sure if they are doing it this year. I will have camera ready by the door just in case if I don't get a chance to talk to them!

I was amazed coming from PA on my 1st July 4th here what the general public were able to to with fireworks.... I think under the "guise" of scaring off birds that were a nuisance to crops or something like that in order to get the permit!

Forgot to add. This picture is better than any fireworks pictures in the Disney Insider Yearbook 2005. No joke! oh, and I get to see it without paying $20 plus shipping (and waited 7 weeks to receive it)
