When you all find recipes that you want off of these boards what do you do with them? I find myself digging through a ton of recipes that I have printed off. That takes longer than cooking whatever dish I want! Do you have an on-line cookbook or files set up? Is there some way you keep them organized? I need some ideas.

I print off recipes and stick them in my cookbook holder (not very tidy :guilty: ) then once I've cooked it I write it up into a hard bound book - an heirloom for my kids!! - with any alterations I've found necessary (e.g. more or less seasoning, different cooking termperature/time etc)

There must be a better way - and my cookery mags reach the ceiling!

I copy the recipes into Word and keep them there. Once of these days I'm going to print myself a set so that I have a copy to take to the kitchen. In the meantime, I've been hand-copying them on old rolodex cards. :rotfl2:

Anyway.... I have folders for each food group for when I want to just look through recipes for inspiration.
Breakfast
Dessert
Appetizers
Chinese
Mexican
Veggies
Pasta
Ham
Indian
etc etc etc

I have a Disney folder that has sub-folders for the parks & resorts because I can never remember the correct name for the recipe - just where we ate it.

Some of the other folders have sub-divisions - like Desserts has Cookies, Cakes, Pies, etc. And the Cookies are divided into Rolled cookies, No-Bake cookies, etc.

For times that I don't want to look through the entire list I can use the Windows search feature to find specific ingredients for those "what shall I make with the left-over han?" nights....or to find specific recipes that I can't remember where I stored them. ;)

I'm sure it's obsessive, but I can find any recipe in a couple seconds and it suits me.

I use MasterCook software program to keep all my recipes organized on my computer and LOVE it! It took some time initially to set it up and input all my recipes, but it was well worth it. You can sort it by category and then just print the recipe as needed. It also has a great meal planning feature as well as a shopping list that will take all the ingrediants from selected recipe(s) and print them out on a shopping list sorted by food type (dairy, meat, spices, etc). It has really streamlined my recipe collection and made it much easier to find recipes.
