A cold slap of reality

I loved reading your messages of support and understanding. I was looking for info about the GAC (bear with me, I only know a few acronyms) and I read some messages and felt I had to join. What wonderful support you give each other. I felt good aftre reading a few of SueOKW's messages and the one saying that you would've never have had certain experiences if not for your child (holland....)

I try to be optimistic too, and hope our 1st trip to disney in Sept. with my 4 y/o daughter will be worth it.

I was hesitant to ask about the GAC but you've convinced me to get it. (autism, low vision, wears orthotics....)

Thanks for helping another kid with special needs enjoy Disney:)

Hugs to you. "Slap in the face" is a good way to describe it. DS16 has Asperger's Syndrome. He functions very well most of the time. In the past he's ben a volunteer swim lesson aide, then this year, took the WSI course. He's not the most bubbly of personalities, but he's a careful instructor.

They schedule the instructors at two week intervals (each session of swim lessons last 2 weeks). Slap in the face: He has not ben scheduled for the first two sessions. I'm realizing that he's NOT going to be scheduled. We passed up having him do several other things so he could work there.

It makes me worry a lot about his future employment.

One day at a time. Enjoy the good times and try not to let the slaps sting too much.
