A code pinned to your name? :confused3 Saw this "phase" on another post. Could someone please explain what this means? Thanks!

You just call reservations and ask if a code is associated with your name.

There was one for us on our last trip. We hadn't received any postcards/emails but still were able to get the discount because their system had a code associated with our name.

It never hurts to ask!

Considering the countless hours I have spent on the Disboards, I can't believe I never knew this!
What type of discounts have people gotten? Are they discounts you can use if you have a MYW package with the Dining Plan? If you call once and they say there is no code, can they add one at a later date? Please tell me more! Thanks!

Are these codes that are associated with your name available to the general public? Are they available at all Disney resorts? I am so confused. :o

As far as I know from personal experience and from these wonderful DIS boards - some people are lucky enough to have a discount or promo code attached to their name in the Disney system. It's completely random - you could never have been there before, or been there 50 times, no one knows how they select the people that get the codes. In the past they would randomly mail postcards with discount codes for certain people, then they sent them via email, now it seems they are just attaching them to your name in their system. I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong) but the code attached to your name isn't permanent - it can come & go, just like the postcards & emails. I had called in August & I was told there was no code attached to my name for an October stay. When I called in September to check on a December stay, they said there was a code with my name & applied it. So you really do have to call & call & call!

I don't know how they choose who gets the codes - but I do now for a fact that I get email codes because I have a Disney VISA card. We have a separate email account only for paying a few bills, one of which is the Disney VISA. The Disney email codes only come into that email account, and we've only ever given that email address to Disney VISA & a few other local companies. Anything else associated with Disney has my personal email address.

Lynn -where in PA are you? I'm in PA too!

Few questions please? Sorry to hijack the thread OP! Lets say that I book a package (room, tickets, DDP) in the next few weeks for a December of 2007 trip, when should I be calling to see if I have code to my name? Would this be something I should ask before I book my package? Also what if they so no I don't have a pin to my name. Do I call throughout the next 14 months and say "do I have a pin on my name" or is that not how it works. Please someone explain this to me a little more! You guys are great and I am a self confessed lame-o!!

Thanks, Tara! This code thing is starting to make sense to me now. :thumbsup2 Just what do you say when you call to see if there is a code??
Tara, even though my username is Lynninpa, I am actually Amy from RI. heehee Our trip last August was a surprise all-expense-paid trip that my DH and I gave to my kids, their spouses and grandkids. While planning the surprise i was on the Disboards alot and so I needed to come up with a "fake" username so my kids did not know what we were up to! Yet I was born in Stroudsburg, PA! :)

No need to apologize! The more questions & answers, the better!! :thumbsup2

Oh that is hilarious Lynn - I mean Amy!!!!! I'm about an hour south of Stroudsburg but head up there to the Crossings outlets weekly! My dad worked in Tannersville so I know the area a little bit.

I call all the time until I can tell from the boards here that I have the best deal at the time. They probably have my account flagged as "crazy lady caller" because I have called up to 4-5 times A DAY when I was confused about something, or found new codes to try, or just didn't like the CM I had & wanted to try another. It seems from the boards here that some CMs don't even want to look up if there's a code with your name (or don't know how - I had one CM put me on hold to check with a supervisor what I was talking about because he didn't know, and in the end, I was right). Others will bend over backwards to help. If you get the impression that they aren't really there to find you the best deal then politely hang up & call again. I just always start with "Here are my dates, here is my resort choice - are there any codes available or is there a PIN attached to my name for a better code?" When I got the email offers they always had a PIN attached, that's why I ask for the code that way.

As for the OP - I don't know what to tell you about how frequently they add/remove PINs from your name - I would guess monthly? Does anyone else know this? I've often gotten email codes with a PIN back-to-back - and they were sent out exactly one month apart, that's why I am guessing they change things around monthly. It wouldn't hurt to call every 4 weeks or so.

Tara! you have been a HUGE help! Thank you so much! :goodvibes

You're welcome - now go call & get some codes or PINs - just get some type of discount off your stay!!! Let us all know if you find any

I got a pin code in my email yesterday. I called but it was for room only. I was hoping for a package code. It was $469 for 6 nights at POP 12/17-12/23 2 adults 2 kids (10&6).

When I called the lady NEVER said I had a pin. I asked for a quote and then told her I had a PIN code. I wanted to compare to see what the savings REALLY were. Without the code room only was $615.

Not a huge savings.

With the promotion they are running now....MYW package with dining , same dates, same people..$1560 with 1 day base tickets.

I think the package is the better deal.

What days are you going ??? The promotional code was BDN

Here's the link to it....

I got lucky one time by calling and asking. As a matter of fact, I think I'll call now and see if another one came along. ;)

Holy smokes! I just called and had a pin attached to my name!! BUT hubby said NO because we just got back less than 2 weeks ago. :furious:

When does the pin expire ? I called today and didn't use mine. Will it still be there next time ?

Just curious, what dates was the code good for? I have called in the past asking about a code attached to my name, but it seems I always talk to someone who thinks I am crazy. So I gave up.

I didn't ask ... she just asked which resort and dates... I told her Mid Nov and she told me it was valid and the rate. I asked her for the pin code just in case I needed it when I called back... she gave me the number but said the code is connected with my name and address.

I know they expire, but I didn't get serious with her because we just got back and didn't think hubby would really go... but now he says we CAN!!! He thinks... but it'll be a quick trip ~ just 3 nights.

Crazy? Really? I've called a few times over the past year and no one has ever questioned it.
The first time the cm told me I had a code pin attached to my name~ I just so happened to be making a ressie. I was so thrilled. He told me everytime I call to make a ressie to JUST ask because you never know.

I have figured out that last Fall I had a pin code {nothing was mailed to me, the cm just told me about it} and now again this Fall. Interesting.

Hubby and I talked about it over dinner and he thinks we can go down for a quick trip. :woohoo:
I really wanna do MVMCP! And we'll go over Hubby's 40's birthday!!
Sooooo maybe JUST maybe we'll go back down. The kids will stay at my parents again because they all said they rather stay there again. Strange children I have. I think I've burned them out with Disney. Oh well... what a horrible mommy I am!!! :lmao:
