There was one for us on our last trip. We hadn't received any postcards/emails but still were able to get the discount because their system had a code associated with our name.
It never hurts to ask!
TaraPA said:As far as I know from personal experience and from these wonderful DIS boards - some people are lucky enough to have a discount or promo code attached to their name in the Disney system. It's completely random - you could never have been there before, or been there 50 times, no one knows how they select the people that get the codes. In the past they would randomly mail postcards with discount codes for certain people, then they sent them via email, now it seems they are just attaching them to your name in their system. I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong) but the code attached to your name isn't permanent - it can come & go, just like the postcards & emails. I had called in August & I was told there was no code attached to my name for an October stay. When I called in September to check on a December stay, they said there was a code with my name & applied it. So you really do have to call & call & call!
I don't know how they choose who gets the codes - but I do now for a fact that I get email codes because I have a Disney VISA card. We have a separate email account only for paying a few bills, one of which is the Disney VISA. The Disney email codes only come into that email account, and we've only ever given that email address to Disney VISA & a few other local companies. Anything else associated with Disney has my personal email address.
Lynn -where in PA are you? I'm in PA too!

Lets say that I book a package (room, tickets, DDP) in the next few weeks for a December of 2007 trip, when should I be calling to see if I have code to my name? Would this be something I should ask before I book my package? Also what if they so no I don't have a pin to my name. Do I call throughout the next 14 months and say "do I have a pin on my name" or is that not how it works. Please someone explain this to me a little more! You guys are great and I am a self confessed lame-o!!

I call all the time until I can tell from the boards here that I have the best deal at the time. They probably have my account flagged as "crazy lady caller" because I have called up to 4-5 times A DAY when I was confused about something, or found new codes to try, or just didn't like the CM I had & wanted to try another. It seems from the boards here that some CMs don't even want to look up if there's a code with your name (or don't know how - I had one CM put me on hold to check with a supervisor what I was talking about because he didn't know, and in the end, I was right). Others will bend over backwards to help. If you get the impression that they aren't really there to find you the best deal then politely hang up & call again. I just always start with "Here are my dates, here is my resort choice - are there any codes available or is there a PIN attached to my name for a better code?" When I got the email offers they always had a PIN attached, that's why I ask for the code that way.
As for the OP - I don't know what to tell you about how frequently they add/remove PINs from your name - I would guess monthly? Does anyone else know this? I've often gotten email codes with a PIN back-to-back - and they were sent out exactly one month apart, that's why I am guessing they change things around monthly. It wouldn't hurt to call every 4 weeks or so.

dizneydiva2005 said:I didn't ask ... she just asked which resort and dates... I told her Mid Nov and she told me it was valid and the rate. I asked her for the pin code just in case I needed it when I called back... she gave me the number but said the code is connected with my name and address.
I know they expire, but I didn't get serious with her because we just got back and didn't think hubby would really go... but now he says we CAN!!!He thinks... but it'll be a quick trip ~ just 3 nights.
