Obviously, CMs are not the most reliable source of info. With that disclaimer out of the way...a CM at MK told me that DHS will definitely be getting a clone of Cars Land. When I asked her about Star Wars Land, she looked doubtful and couldn't give any definite information about it.

So take it for what it's worth. Just wanted to throw that out there.

If true, it'll be the best thing to happen to DHS since the hat.

This probably should have been posted in the rumor forum.

I think there's less than a 5% chance Cars Land will be coming to WDW.

Let's go through the plusses and minuses of Cars Land vs Star Wars Land

Plus:
-Carsland is already built so Disney won't have to spend money on design
-Carsland is very popular

Minus:
-WDW already has a car-racing E ticket ride. Radiator Springs Racers would just be a clone of Test Track. I doubt Disney wants to have E tickets that are the same. Yes they have lots of roller coaster e tickets, but they never moved Indiana Jones to Florida because they have DINOSAUR instead; I think the same thing goes for Test Track vs RSR.
-There are no more Cars movies coming out (that I'm aware of) so there's no cross-over hype. There will be more Star Wars movies.
-Disney spent X billions of dollars on Star Wars. It makes sense they'd use that intellectual property to build Star Wars Land and not Cars Land
-Star Wars has more universal appeal than Cars.
-Darth Vader could kick the crap out of Chick Hicks.

So I think it's way more likely we'll see Star Wars land. And I don't see Disney expanding HS to include both. Let's be realistic, Disney has done the bare minimum with their parks so they're not going to blow us away and do any more than they feel they need to do. No matter how badly I pray at church every Sunday for a Villians themed park with Maleficient's castle as the center of the hub it's just never going to happen. Just think...EVIL Dumbo....EVIL Peter Pan...EVIL it's a small world. It would be awesome.

There have been reports about a Cars III.

Who knows what they'll do, but I'd love to see cars land at WDW!

I certainly hope there won't be a cars land. We already have Test Track, there's no need to have a clone in another park with a different look. I'd much rather see newer rides and other Pixar movies being added. I don't see the reason to import the same attraction from Disneyland since we already have Test Track. So I'm hoping they utilize the space for something better.

Funny enough my friend did a backstage tour last month and that CM told her that they were 100% putting in a Star Wars Land to replace everything being closed at DHS. When she asked the CM about the Cars Land rumor she said that was always just a rumor and that they were never really considering adding Cars Land at WDW, they'd rather keep it at DL so people visit both still. :confused3

Definitely should be on the rumors board though, until Disney makes some actual announcement.

As far as having "clones" for 18 years from 1989 till 2007 Epcot had Body Wars and the Studios had Star Tours. That being said, my guess is we get some of the other cars land rides along with other pixar themed rides in an expanded pixar place

I dunno, if not wanting to duplicate was a reason, there wouldn't be 2 of TOT or Soarin or half the rides in WDW.

CM's love to talk, they rarely know more than anyone else. Sometimes they're the last to know.

My CM friend - who works in the architecture department - also told me a hybrid Pixar Place/Carsland is coming to DHS and a few more of the attractions there will be gone after Christmas. For whatever that's worth...

From a financial standpoint, I just can't believe that Disney would spend more on a Cars attraction vs. Star Wars. There are much more potential profits in Star Wars in both visitors and product sales in Star Wars than Cars.

I don't know if you guys have had a chance to ride both, but RSR is NOT a clone of Test Track. Not even close. The RSR ride vehicles are based on the TT ones, but everything else about the experience is completely different. Haunted Mansion and Little Mermaid both use the omnimover; does that make them a clone of each other?

Yes, it's a rumor at this point. But Disney is closing a lot of attractions at DHS, thereby clearing a ton of space. I think the most likely scenario is that they are planning both Cars Land (probably a smaller version, or maybe just RSR) and a Star Wars land for DHS.

I don't consider Cars Land to be a "clone" of Test Track.

First, of the multiple wonders of Cars Land...
only the Radiator Springs Racers is a single attraction that uses similar drive vehicles to Test Track.

The kind of drive vehicle is where the similarity stops.

RSR is an astonishingly well-designed attraction, only if you were to look at
the wonderful multi-scene build-up to the actual race.
There is a great story to the attraction.
(OTOH, Test Track completely lacks in story since the conversion to the Tron-like
sets.)

RSR outdoor sections are breathtakingly huge and wondrous to behold.
This goes both before the dark-ride sections are entered and later, during the racing scenes.
The current Test Track is a pale "half-cousin, twice-removed" to the fully fleshed out, thoughtful, humorous...
and downright amazing... RSR of Cars Land.

Then, there is all the rest of the theming, attractions, and food of Cars Land...
But, that's another post.

What they both said! ^^

And, DCA management has already decided to change Luigi's Tires. LT reminded me of the "Flying Saucers" - actually were based on them - that were located outside of DL's gates many years ago!!

I've never been to Cars Land so I can't comment on it, although I do enjoy the movies. I was at one of the Star Wars weekends last year and the Studios was mobbed. I was 8 years old when Star Wars came out, and it was a HUGE part of my childhood. And now it is for my kids. Heck, it's one of my dads favorite movies.

I think a Star Wars land, done right, would be an unbelievable success. The multi-generational appeal would be amazing. It could be their answer to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal. No matter what they would spend on it, it would be virtually guaranteed to make money hand over fist for years to come, especially with new movies coming out in the future. To me it's a no brainer.

Honestly, ANYTHING major that Disney can pull off in a fast timeframe should be 1st into DHS. If they don't have anything open by next summer, they may have to severely discount single day tickets to DHS (and EPCOT) just to get people to visit those parks in their currently reduced forms. Borrowing a whole land and concept from Disneyland should be executable in 6 months or less...and that's the timeframe Disney needs to start the turn around of DHS...so, I'm all for a Pixar/Cars Land as the 1st add to DHS with a Star Wars land added as a follow on in their normal "longer" time frame...

I think that's extremely aggressive given recent history.
