I know, I'm a bit late... but my story is a holiday one just the same...
DH and I stayed in BCV last year with someone else's points and absolutely loved it. I immediately wanted to buy in, but DH was concerned about finances since we were expecting our first child.
Recently my DH has been re-doing our finances a bit and during that time, I once again suggested, why don't we take out a little more and buy into DVC... Again, I got the brush off.
Flash to Dec 14, I work out of my home and I was on a conference call. Often times, I get referred for business out of state, so when I see a foreign area code, I put on my best business voice to answer...
"Good afternoon, this is Jules"
"Hello, this is Disney Vacation Club..."
"Oh, let me stop you, I'm on another call that I have to get back to, can I take your name and number and call you back?" (assuming solicitation)
"No, that won't be necessary... we're just calling to WELCOME you to the Disney Vacation Club family and let you know we're here if you need us."
Click... (that click wasn't the phone, it was my head.) HE BOUGHT A DVC!!!
About 3 seconds later, DH walked into our office and I had no poker face whatsoever. I immediately burst into tears, I knew I wasn't supposed to know, but now that I did, I would never be able to hold it in. This was the only thing in the world I've ever really asked for.
DH was absolutely furious! He worked for months with sales and was very specific that this was a Christmas gift for his wife and that only his cell phone was to be called. As our first Christmas with DD (10 mos), DH had a picture in his head of how he was going to wrap the box and surprise us. I felt terrible for him and had to talk him down a bit so that we could enjoy the moment, even thought it wasn't Christmas morning. I don't think he'll ever fully get over that disappointment, but I am ecstatic either way.
Anyway, I just figured I'd introduce myself with my story. I look forward to learning the ropes from all of you.
