A character breakfast- with specific requests:

Btw-the top 2 reasons are why I've not booked character dining for dmil previously.

However; when we've visited contemporary and GF she's spied character dining and said it looked like fun.

My initial thoughts were to book a 'nice buffet breakfast' without characters-but dh thinks we could do both.

It sounds like the one at the swan/dolphin would work. It's only on weekend though. A couple characters appear, not five or so like at other breakfasts.

Not to be critical but if the above is your criteria I wouldn't do a character meal..............if you feel you have to, I'd avoid Chef Mickey's and Tusker House..........way to much noise and character interaction (although character interaction is a hit or miss thing) You could maybe do Cape May Café...........you do get seated quickly and the food is very good (but remember character meal are buffets).

I agree with @dkrauss, your wish list really doesn't fit the character meal profile. They will all be noisy, busy and a bit chaotic. Buffets are not generally the "best" food.
I also agree I would go with Cape May Café breakfast. It seems to be the most calm of the buffets, and you can't mess up breakfast food too badly.

The fact that characters attract little ones, and little ones tend to be noisy and chaotic around the characters, pretty much kills #1 off your list.

Also, the character meals are extremely popular, so there is a very good chance you'll have to wait a bit unless you get an ADR right at opening.

Agree. We ate breakfast at The Wave last Wednesday before our MK day, and it meet all the criteria above other than characters.

I would go with the Garden Grill in Epcot. It's family style so no buffet. And the semi-circle booths make you feel like you are by yourself and it's not near as noisy. I've never been for breakfast but I had dinner here and it was a lot quieter than the other character meals we have done.

Which is exactly why I didn't book on our last 2 trips....

However dmil speaks wistfully of seeing the characters from a distance
She would never actually say she wants to go or not go anywhere -
but facial expressions and hints she puts out there suggest she wants to give it a go.

How abotu 1900 Park Fare? There is a main room and a side room - the back room area isnt' quite as loud as the main area, the characters still go though, and the only time you will "hear noise" is going to the main room for the buffet

When I read your list...Garden Grill was the first one I thought of. It is quiet and your interaction with the characters is great without having a whole bunch of other diners around since you are in the semi-circle booths. Also it is neat that the restaurant rotates around. We have only done dinner there. (breakfast wasn't offered before when we went.)

Actually I was going to suggest the character breakfast at the Four Seasons, only Minnie, Mickey, and Goofy but the food seems to be top notch!

I think Garden Grill at EP is definitely right up your alley. Since it's served family style AND the seating arrangement is different, you don't have people up milling around. The characters are the only ones moving and they will come to you, one or two at a time. Breakfast has a YUMMY nutella sauce with the waffles and a huge, skillet cinnamon roll! I would definitely give this one a try.

Another vote for Cape May. When we stayed at Beach Club (pre-kids trip), we went down for the breakfast, not even knowing it was a character meal. I was VERY hung-over (darn you, JellyRolls!) and there was't too much noise or commotion to exacerbate my condition. I have a picture of me with Chip and Dale - not sure if they still appear - and my eyes are horribly bloodshot, but I'm smiling and happy to see the low-key characters. I clearly remember a fellow working on his laptop - gave off the vibe of a business conventioneer staying there - and he seemed even more surprised than we were to see characters at his breakfast, but he waved them off and they left him alone. Goofy was especially cute in his bathing costume.

I bet this will be a fond memory for you that you won't regret. My daughter and I were just talking about how fun the character meals were with my mom. It was a lot of fun, good memories and we have some nice pics. We found chip and dale to be very sweet. I'd agree with garden grill.

I would just avoid chef Mickey , ohana and 1900 park fare...the mad hatter was a bit over the top when we went.

Have fun and don't forgot an autograph book for Dmil. Better yet, get a photo mat, have the characters sign and get a nice picture of you all.

I suggest garden grill as well. Of all the character meals we have enjoyed, this one comes closest to what you would be comfortable with.
You never can tell what the wait will be, too many unknowns, but this one had the foid brought to you, is the least chaotic, and is relatively quiet.
