We were in the family room watching a movie when we heard this tremendous BOOM! that shook the house. My first thought was a sonic boom. For just an instant, we just sat there. Then my husband, Joe, jumped up and ran for the hallway. There is tile flooring there and he fell. My daughter, Carol, jumped up. She had been at the kitchen table doing homework. My son, James, jumped and ran over near my daughter. I jumped up (well, we all did at some point) and ran to look down the hall for smoke or flames.
As Joe got up and headed down the hall, Carol jumped up on her chair and began to scream. James began screaming too but in a much deeper voice. I asked him why he was screaming and headed out the front door. My second thought was an explosion at another home of some kind or something fell from the sky.
Outside looking for unnatural light I saw my neighbor in his garage. I yelled over "Did you hear that?" and he answered "Yes, it was me!". Puzzled I walked over and he showed me where his car had rolled out of his garage, down his driveway and into our house.
Fortunately his car didn't make it all the way through. We won't be able to really tell how much damage is done until tomorrow but there is a definate dent in the side of James' bedroom wall.
What an adreneline rush!
As a side note, our neighbor had just gotten home from picking his son up from driver's ed. His son said "Well, I learned something else tonight besides not to drink and drive. It is important to put your car in park."
