04/25- This was a pool day so we slept in and were lazy. We had lunch at the Pepper Market and it was fine for counter service. You do not get an appitizer here but we both had the chicken breast sandwich and a fruit plate. We took out lunches outside to the bar area and had a very nice meal looking at the lake. Then off to the pool for the rest of the day.
Dinner- Narcoossees- This was one of my favorites. I love the Grand Floridian. We had a pre-dinner martini in the bar and then were seated at about 8:15 only about 15 minutes past our ADR. Ordered a nice bottle of wine. I had the mussels and my DH had the crab cake. These were excellent mussels with a great curry base. We finished every one! Then I had the whole lobster while my DH had the surf and turf. Both were very, very good. No dessert, way too full!
04/26- Breakfast at 10:00 am at the Grand Floridian Cafe. Best breakfast ever! We both had the lobster eggs benedict and it was really good! Then headed over to MK for the day. Big mistake as it was really crowded, worst crowd of the day. We go hungry in the afternoon and split a tuna sandwich at Columbia Harbor House- very good but glad we split it as it was huge.
Dinner- Artist Point 7:30pm. We went back to the resort to shower and change. We live in the NW so this resort felt like home! We liked the restaurant too. I started with the mussels and my husband had the spinach salad. Good musssels but not as good as Naroossees. We both had the salmon for entrees which was prepared perfectly at medium rare. Most restaurants that are not in the NW overcook salmon but it should be prepared medium rare. We paired it with a great wine. We split the cobbler for dessert and this was a favorite for both of us! Yummy, huge berries and a great sorbet. Great meal.
04/27- This was our Blizzard Beach Day and we had a blast. Ate at a counter service for lunch there and it was very good. I had the cobb salad and my DH had a chicken wrap. We both had a Mickey bar for dessert. yum! Spent the day in the water and left about 2pm when it started to get really crowded. Were so glad we got there when it opened and were able to do all the slides with no lines. Back to the pool at the resort for the rest of the day.
Dinner- Le Cellier. We had an ADR for 7:30 but did not get seated until about 8:15. This happens everytime we visit this restaurant and it was the only place that we had to wait very long. We both had the filet, but substitued the mashed potatos. We shared the mussels for an appitizer and paid for a cup of the chedder soup. Can't have pretzel bread without the soup! Passed on dessert, too full- maybe shouldn't have gotten the soup!
04/28- Wanted to make rope drop at AK so had an 8am ADR for breakfast at Boma. Was just ok, nothing special, a typical buffet breakfast. Excellent press pot coffee though. Received a cute anniversay card signed by the CMs in their native language. Very Cute!
Had an eggroll each for a snack at MK. Pretty good.
Dinner- Chef de France- We really love this restaurant! I had the onion soup, my DH the escargots again. For entrees I can't remember what I had! Nothing on the menu rings a bell! I think my DH had the salmon and I know we had dessert but can't remember what, I think the sorbet. At this point of the trip, we were getting a little tired of eating! I know the meal was great though!
04/29- Pool Day- Had breakfast at the Maya Grill, it was fine, nothing special. Spent the day by the pool, split a chicken sandwich with we paid OOP for. It was fine.
Dinner- Jiko! We really like it here, one of our favorites. Had a great bottle of African wine. I had the olive flatbread and my husband the ostrich. The ostrich was very good but very small so he helped me eat some flatbread. We still left almost half of it. It was huge! I had the halibut and DH the swordfish. Both were prepared perfectly and were excellent. I had the pistachio creme brulee, so, so good with a chocolate bottom and DH had the berries with lemon curd which sound weird but was so good.
04/30- Lunch Rose and Crown- Had a great table under the roof of the patio. Great view of the lake. I started with the salad and DH had the smoked salmon. Both were very good. We both had the fish and chips and while the portion was huge, it was very greasy and the batter was too thick. Once we peeled that off, the fish inside was flaky and good. We split the Baileys truffle for dessert. We liked this meal but didn't love it. The service was great though.
Dinner- Yachtmans Steakhouse- We really like it here! Drink in the bar as usual then ordered a nice bottle of wine for dinner. I started with the lobster bisque and DH had the chilled seafood salad. Both were excellent! Some of the best appitzers of the trip! We both had the filet and this was one of the best filets we have ever had! So tender you could cut it with a fork and lots of flavor. We both had baked potato so this was a huge meal for us, huge! We both had the sorbet and I liked the lemon basil the best. Sounds strange but it was good!
05/01- Back to MGM and the Brown Derby for lunch again! We had meal credits left and we had to use them up! This time I had the coconut shrimp and DH the salad. Only 2 shrimp which was fine for me. Then I had the cobb salad and DH had the salmon again. Oh, so good- we really love this restuarant and want to try it for dinner next time. I tried the grapefruit cake and DH tried the cobbler. I say tried because we really didn't need dessert but ordered it anyway only to find we had no room. So we had a bite of each and that was it. We did get another free glass of champagne too!
Dinner- Our favorite meal of the trip was at Citricos both for the food and the service. Our wait team of David and Jose were excellent and we made sure to tell a manager on the way out how wonderful they were. We received another personalized menu here ( the first one was at Naroossees). Jose helped us select a wine and made sure we had a laminated label from the bottle to take home with us as we really liked it and wanted to remember what it was. I started with the shrimp and DH had the crab cakes. OMG both were so good!!! Then I had the bass and DH the swordfish. Both were just excellent and we would order both again. What a great dinner for our final night in the world!
05/02 Our plane didn't leave until 6pm so we decided to spend the last day in DownTown Disney. Had a 2pm ADR at Wolfgang Pucks. We love his restaurants and have never been disappointed. I had the spinach salad and then the smoked salmon pizza which I have everytime I eat at his restaurants. It was wonderful as always. My DH had the crabcake and the special fish which was Mahi Mahi. They were both great too. We both even tried to eat dessert! I had something with berries and DH the sorbet. We were so stuffed from this meal that we didn't even have dinner on the plane and it looked great! 3 courses including a handmade hot fudge sundae and we couldn't eat a bite even though it was a 6 hour flight. Of course when we got home at 9pm (midnight Florida time) we were starving and ate chicken McNuggets for dinner! Yuk!
All in all we had so many great meals! We had one meal credit left over. For snacks we mostly used them for water, 3 mickey bars, 2 egg rolls, 1 popcorn, 2 iced coffees and then brought home 9 treats from Goofys that are still sitting in the pantry. I am going to sneak them into DH's lunchbox tomorrow so I am not tempted to eat them.
Any questions, feel free to ask!
