A Borrowing Question

I have a September use year and am planning our next vacation at WDW. My vacation will require some borrowing of points. If I get a reservation at BWV with a preferred view, but wait list for standard views, how will the borrowed points be treated if I luck out on the wait list? Will I be penalized for the savings by having the borroweed points placed into the holding account or is there some other way to approach this potential problem?

I think the points return to the year they were borrowed into. You would have to use them before the end of that use year.

Are you borrowing all the points for the reservation? Maybe you are using enough of your current years points to have THOSE points returned. Then you could bank them.

I will probably be borrowing 70-80 points. The difference between standard and preferred works out to around 30 points. If the points go into a holding account for 2004, that would not be a problem.

If you will be using a mixture of borowed and current points, MS can rearrange the points so that the "extra" points could be banked- subject to normal banking deadlines. The borrowed points would be used for the reservation- the current points would be the ones freed up.

Any borrowed points not used would stay in the current use year and would have to be used before the end of the use year. If the waitlist comes thru within 30 days of the reservation the points freed up would go into the holding account. Otherwise, they will simply return to your normal account to be used or banked. (Borrowed points cannot be banked however.)

No, they stay in the year they are borrowed into. As noted, MS should be able to free up non borrowed points to bank back to the next year.
