I'm curious about the process here...I know you check in at the main bldg, do you just walk over by yourselves? Are there greeters or anybody over at the BLT bldg, or are you completely on your own once you check in?

You walk over by yourself - there are no escorts or greeters at the room floors, just as there are none at other DVC/WDW resorts. There are some staff on the lobby level, but they are for scheduling DVC tours and basic information.

As Tara said, no escorts, but once you use your KTTW to open the door to the skybridge, all the other doors open automatically for you - it was kind of a nifty little feature : )

I was actually very surprised at the lack of personnel at BLT. DH and I walked around like idiots until we finally found what elevator we needed to be at to get to our room. :rotfl2:

Also, keep in mind that, like the skybridge, you have to use your KTTW to open up the main (ground-floor) door at BLT as well. :thumbsup2

The individual who checked us in gave us great instructions on how to reach our elevator and where to go depending on whether we wanted to walk on the ground level or take the sky bridge. We thought the check in process was pretty smooth.

Thanks everyone, that's cool the rest of the doors open automatically, so it just senses the key card on you and just opens!

It didn't sense our KTTW card when we were there in August.

You can always ask a Bell Person to take you over to BLT.

The doors don't "sense" your card although that would be a new kind of magic wouldn't it? I think quirty was talking about the automatic doors beyond the entrance to the skybridge similar to automatic doors at the main entrance to BCV for instance.

But you must use your key at the skybridge, the main entry on the ground floor, the back entries by the pool, etc.. Security is tight.

Ah yes, that makes sense, thank you.

That's actually very funny!! I hadn't thought about that until I read your post. There really aren't many personnel at BLT at all.

I have a question about the pool. If I am correct, Contemporary guests and other resort guests are not supposed to use the Bay Lake Tower pool. Is there a gate or something around the pool where you have to use your room key to get in? While staying at WL it was so irritating to see FW guests coming over in huge groups (getting off the boat in their bathing suits) and taking up a lot of space in the pool. I know that this type of behavior will happen anywhere, but just wondering if there were extra procedures to try to lessen it like at Beach and Yacht Club.
Thanks everybody. The pool looks awesome by the way.

Yes, the BLT pool has a gate with locks. When they are working, you need a KTTW card to operate.

I heard they have had trouble but hopefully they have fixed them by now.

We check out today and the pool gates were still locking some of the time. but mostly not locking.

Just an FYI (not sure if this was your case), but the FW pool was closed for several months for a huge refurb, and FW guests were told to use the WL pool.

Are there drink towers in BLT to refill the refillable mugs or do you have to go over to Contemporary Resort to refill? Just wondering.

They only place I could find to fill up my mug was on the 4th floor of the Contemporary. Penny

Yes ,that was also the case when we where there

You can refill your mug(s) at the BLT pool or go over the the CR for a refill (using the skybridge).
