hi all :wave2:
can someone please explain what the AP's are and how do they work?

some of you may know by now that we are getting married whilst at wdw and i am thinking of booking to stay in the resort of our weding location for maybe 2 nights (to make wedding journey easy)but they can work out quite pricey so am wondering how can i get discounts? do you use the AP's for this kind of thing :)

thanks

Yes you can get room discounts with an AP - that is up to now you can, though nothing is guarenteed and rooms offered at an AP rate may be limited.
Lately an AP got you $100 off per night at a deluxe resort.
Be aware AP`s are very dangerous things to have - they make you go and have numerous trips ;)

Here is lots of good AP information.
I just renewed mine, another year of magic! :wizard:

Don't forget to figure in the fact that the AP is a hopper. If you buy regular MYW tickets, hopping is a hefty additional charge. If you are planning on using the AP for a resort discount, only the reservation maker has to be an AP holder, not everyone in the party.

You are entitled to discounts on behind the scenes tours.

As an AP holder you are also able to get a Disney Dining Experience card for $60. This will save you 20% on your table service meals, including alcoholic beverages! There are exceptions to the table service rule at Animal Kingdom. Since there are no sit-down restaurants, you get the 20% discount at their counter service eateries! Same goes for the Disney Value resorts (POP & All Stars).

Anyway, good luck and congratulations! :sunny:

AAA is the American Automobile Association.

For Brits, the AA discount counts too as far as I know :)

hi miffy
i thought i'd seen that we can use the AA but wasn't too sure  how does this work? or would i be better off with the AP?

I think it's a gamble Eve! The AP rate may not be available at all, but I think tends to be better than AA rate. But you are gambling on it being available for the date and resort you want it for.

Historically, AP rates have been available for all but the very busiest days of the year (so, those over Christmas and Easter, basically). The only problem is that they're not announced very far in advance. The best bet is to book the resort you want and then keep an eye out for the discounts. As soon as they're announced, you can phone WDW and have the rate switched. Often, when they're first announced, you can find that there's no availability at the AP rate. That's because people make multiple bookings to cover all the bases. Keep phoning back because, as people finalise their plans, they will drop those bookings they don't need and rooms will become available. Frustrating, time-consuming and irritating!

You could consider booking through a specialist travel agent, such as Dreams Unlimited or Small World Vacations. They will keep on top of the announcements and switch your booking when the AP rates are announced.

thank you miffy and ukdeb you have been very helpfull :thumbsup2 i won't be booking the room until we can book our wedding in october :)
