~ A 21 month old, a celebrity sighting, & a whole lotta food~2 week trip~ 2/28 update

Did you take the pictures of your purchases in FL or once you got home? If you took them in FL, that's REALLY planning ahead for your TR....

"Lazy" days at WDW are the best! Your mom getting to "sleep in" even better!

Balconies and patios are underused--thank God for dad! We had a balcony at the BCV in 08 and only went out there a few times the whole trip!

Yay, I got to read 2 updates. Loved the pics off Dylan playing with the sticks. AK is really hot. We also liked the parade. The porch sounds really nice. Hope you all liked Boma.

Sounds like a great day! I've always wanted to go to the outlets but have never made time. I think next time I'm there ( which happens to be next week) I will for sure stop. All that Disney stuff for $37 is unheard of!
Can't wait to hear how you liked Boma, we are going while we are there Aug 8th.

YAY! Great update! I'm impressed by the power-shopping!! As a mom of girls I must say that I love the Minnie onesie! Soooo cute!! :cutie:

My parents started out in San Mateo but then moved to Oroville (about an hour north of Sac)when I was pretty young. She has done most of her teaching there. How did you like living in the Bay Area? That has always sounded difficult to me due to traffic/commuting, etc.

I know this is totally :offtopic: (not in the grumpy look way though) But SunnieRN what suburb near SF did you live in? I too live in a suburb near SF (on the Peninsula) but just put SF because it is a more recognizable spot :hippie:

Hi!! I grew up in the Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek area. I am an old fart, so I lived there when it was towns, unlike now, where it is all citified! My Dad still lives there.

It always amazes me what a small world it really is!! As an adult I moved to Sacramento(became an RN and worked at Biggs Gridley hospital, close to your folks Sunset Cliffs), then Merced, down South, then moved to the Yuba City area (Sutter), and was OR manager at that same small Biggs Gridley hospital!

Now I live in Texas (as of 2 years ago). Not that I don't love it here, but it was a bit of a culture shock!! Porturican, I know what you mean about recognizable city names, but I know that Sunset Cliffs parents will know where Sutter/Yuba City and Biggs Gridley hospital are.:goodvibes

Sorry, back on topic!! What a nice relaxing morning you had!! The patio sounds so nice and relaxing! Very cool about no bugs too!! I'm looking forward to your Boma dinner as we have reservations there for September!!

What a great TR! Thanks so much for sharing! Dylan is a doll!

Another N. CA native checking in. I grew up in San Jose. :) And yes, I agree- many rides at DL are better than their counterparts at WDW. Esp Small World and Pirates!!!

Loving reading your report- I find myself smiling and nodding in agreement to many of your observations- esp the ones about people acting like dolts in WDW! What's up with that? My mom and I are total snarks and we say, 'Hmm, guess they missed their Mensa meeting today' when we come across people just acting clueless. :cool2: We do manage to crack each other up on our Disney trips, that's for sure.

My family went to WDW at the exact same time you did, last year- and we had some of those beastly hot days as well. One day we got lunch in the WS and I thought I was going to DIE it was so hot (we had to eat in the sun- no tables AT ALL in the shade). My DH was just miserable and we couldn't wait to get back to our room at the Boardwalk...the heat & humidity really saps the life out of ya! Esp when you're not used to it!

Can't wait to read more!

(and hi Becky!!!)

Love the necklace you picked up and $37 for all of your loot? Impressive!

I'm with your dad, patios and decks are the bomb!:goodvibes

Can't wait to read about your experience at Boma!!:yay:

I'm all caught up! Everytime we go to AK we always think it's the hottest day. My DH thinks it's because of all the trees so you never really get a good breeze. We love Flametree, but my DD is scared of birds so we never get to enjoy our food there.

I just reserved 2 nights at the Vistana for the first and last day of our trip. Reading your TR and the little details you give makes me super excited to stay there.

I hope you don't have to wait long for your dinner!

I"ve never have been to the outlets there.. but I hear they are great. I love your necklace you picked up up.. and the photo of you and dylan is really cute.

I hope you didn't have to wait long for your ADR...:surfweb:

You should go to those outlets sometime. In fact, when I typed up this TR, I totally thought of you when I wrote "Banana Republic" because of that shirt you bought the other day.

Oh my gosh, Dylan looks adorable all dressed up. Love his shoes! They are so easy to slip on and velcro fast.

Those shoes are awesome! I got them at Kohl's and he wears those more than any other. They are really adjustable, so they have lasted longer than most.

Great trip report so far! I can't wait to hear about Boma - yum! :thumbsup2

Hi! Thanks for reading. Boma is a really fun place to eat.

I took the pictures while in Florida, when I was packing everything to go home. I knew once I got home they would get scattered all over the house. Yes, I was already thinking about writing the TR. :) Todd loves balconies too. He always says he wants to buy a home someday with a balcony & a view. Don't know how we will afford it, but I hope he gets his balcony someday.

Yay, I got to read 2 updates. Loved the pics off Dylan playing with the sticks. AK is really hot. We also liked the parade. The porch sounds really nice. Hope you all liked Boma.

Dylan playing w/ the sticks was such a cute photo op. He was so excited to bang those sticks together. It's the simple things, I guess!

The Character Store at the outlet has a lot of clothes, but also has lots of other random things. Some plush, some Christmas stuff, some toys, mugs, etc. You never know what you will find. It is worth stopping by if you have time.

YAY! Great update! I'm impressed by the power-shopping!! As a mom of girls I must say that I love the Minnie onesie! Soooo cute!! :cutie:

You know, I'm not much of a shopper (I know, I'm weird), so power-shopping is good for me. I just get bored easily if I don't have a mission when shopping. My mom & Todd's mom have tried to convert me, but it just hasn't happened yet. Although I really like shopping in Orlando, go figure!

I have family that live in Walnut Creek right now. And Biggs/Gridley, etc is all very close to where I grew up. Such a small world! I like Redding because it sort-of feels small town but has actual shopping and things that those smaller towns don't.

What a great TR! Thanks so much for sharing! Dylan is a doll!

(and hi Becky!!!)

Ok, your Mensa comment made me LOL. That was awesome. Yeah the heat was really it's own thing on this trip. We tried really hard to push through a lot of it and still enjoy the trip. You can't let it dictate your day, but it was hard not to give up and go home to go swimming, you know? Thanks for posting!

I'm here! Good reading so far!

I love that you saw Herbie! haha! :thumbsup2

Welcome! Thanks so much for reading. :goodvibes

Ok so we're probably going to have a rental car when we go down to WDW in Nov/Dec but didn't intend on going off property. Now I'm second guessing that! I want to go to the Character outlet and buy all that stuff for so cheap! And a Banana Republic outlet sounds pretty damn good too.

Dylan looks so cute dressed up all nice for dinner. And that patio sounds soooo relaxing. I can't wait to hear all about Boma since I want to eat there too!

I tried to take pictures of everything that we bought as I was packing to go home. I know that I missed a few things, and the layout of the photos is not great but at least you can get the idea of the things that I bought.

You did great! It's amazing. Staying offsite is like a whole other world. I didn't even know there were outlets! :confused3

Can't wait to read about your experience at Boma!!:yay:

What is it about being on a patio or deck that screams "you're on vacation!" I really think we would spend more time outside if our backyard had an area like that. I just need a large pond w/ a fountain to make that "relaxing water sound" and it would be perfect, right? ;)

I'm all caught up! Everytime we go to AK we always think it's the hottest day. My DH thinks it's because of all the trees so you never really get a good breeze. We love Flametree, but my DD is scared of birds so we never get to enjoy our food there.

Your DH is probably right about the trees. I never thought about that before but it is definitely more closed in. We didn't see a single bird at Flame Tree in the area we sat this time. Usually we do, so maybe it's just being closer to the water?

So cool you booked at the Vistana! Definitely request the Fountains area or any other newly remodeled section. You can do that with their Diamond Lane check in on their website. Do you know about that? If not, let me know and I will get you the link. You can send in requests, and check in early. Then when you get there you have a shorter line to stand in to check in.

Looking forward to reading more!

Thanks for sticking with me!

I know that Disney transportation is free, but the rental car would be worth it to me because you are on your own time-table. Plus you can go off-property to go shopping! :worship: When we know we are going to WDW, we don't really shop for a few months before we go, because we know we are going to find good stuff at that outlet.

I hope you guys eat at Boma next time. You don't have to be too adventurous to enjoy it.

You did great! It's amazing. Staying offsite is like a whole other world. I didn't even know there were outlets! :confused3

Oh my...the outlets! :cloud9: If you like to shop, you should try these outlets sometime. Like I said, they are very close by. Probably a 5 minute drive from the Crossroads area.

This is the cutest picture!! You are look beautiful (I love that shirt) and he is adorable!!

Aww, you are so sweet! :goodvibes Thanks so much for joining in & reading.

We used to helicopter trauma patients to Redding all the time. My Uncle owned a golf course in Redding until about 8 years ago. The world is getting smaller all the time!;)
