Even though all the above replies are correct (and as far as work DI, if integrated with SS), it still is prudent for her or somebody to confirm accuracy of such with the local SS office.C.Ann said:This is great! There is a difference between SSD and SSI...One is means tested(SSI,one is earned(SSD)... which one is she applying for?C.Ann said:Anyone have experience with this?
I have a friend in CT who was injured severely in a car accident about 2 years ago.. There is a lawsuit pending (tractor-trailer went through a stop sign and broadsided her vehicle) but because the tt firm is fighting this tooth and nail, any kind of settlement is a long, long way off..
Anyhow - she is unable to work at all - but afraid to apply for SSI because someone told her that whatever she receives from SSI now, will be deducted from what she receives later in life when she retires..
I've never heard of that - was just wondering if anyone else did - or if she was the victim of bad information..
