$900 worth of food in seven days???

We have tried to teach the kids to eat according to their appetites. Not what's on the plate, not what anyone says they are supposed to do.

So yes we eat breakfast, lunch and dinner-- the same number of meals-- but the amount of food consumed per person is quite a bit less than a typical restaurant portion. For example, if we go to McDonald's, the five of us will share 3 Value Meals. Or if we eat a restaurant lunch, nobody is hungry at dinnertime.

I couldn't agree more. We eat a lot less than the average resturant serving, too, and NEVER get appetizers and desserts eating out. But, the dining plan will still be good for us, for several reasons. None of them have anything to do with portion size.

1. We have young kids and want to eat at lots of character meals, which we all know are $$$.

2. We want to eat healthy (waters for snacks), not all CS.

3. I don't want to say no due to cost, which I would if I paid for everything OOP. I want to enjoy our trip without always worrying about the menu prices. That freedom and peace is worth whatever extra food is left on the plate.

I agonized a lot about whether the DP was good for us, too. In the end I decided not to base my decision on how much food we were getting (because we'll never eat it all), but based on WHERE we want to eat (healthier TS and character meals) and convenience. After we split CS meals to use credits for breakfast, I think we'll at least break even if not more on the cost. CS really adds up! (We have a group of 7 going for 10 days.)
