I just got this email about 90% off Restaurant.com certificates:

90% off Restaurant.com Certificates (because it's 9/9/09!)
Save 90% with code NINETY, pay only $1 for a $25 certificate

These last for a full year, so stock up at this unbelievable price!
This is a REAL deal. For example, a $1,000 certificate would cost $40, and you'd get 40 certificates for $25 each over the year. You could also stock up on gifts:

Buy gifts now for the holidays--everyone likes to eat out!
Buy general gift certificates for teacher gifts (they can select their own restaurant later)
Buy a large gift certificate for yourself and redeem it for individual restaurant certificates over the year
Send them to friends and family via email as a fun gift now
Buy Dinner of the Month memberships for gifts to give later

has anyone used these before?

No, because around my area I only see small restaurants on the OTHER side of the city...nowhere we normally would eat. No chains nearby. I think this is the site where there were all kinds of exclusions at one restaurant I could go to -- like lunch only, M-F or something??? It was several years ago, can't remember. I just know I don't bother.

Take that back -- it was somehting about minimum purchase.

ETA: just found a restaurant on there now, that we love and dh's parents go to frequently. But it's sold out.

Cool, thanks for posting this!!

I just bought a few certificates to 2 different restaurants... the exclusions/requirements weren't too bad on them. And they're restaurants we like, but are just a little too expensive.. so will be perfect, :)

Can't beat getting $125 worth of certs. for $5, :)

We use these sometimes when we go out. Alot of nice restaurants in our area use Restaurants.com. I assume it's to drum up business in tough times because the list of places to eat has really gotten big over the last couple of years. They have varying certificate sizes with different stipulations for each place. Generally, to use a $25 certificate you have to buy $35 worth of food...$50 certificate needs to but $100 worth of food, etc. I rarely come across the ones that say "lunch only" or anything like that. Sometimes they say "not to be used for Seafood Feast" or whatever uber special they have going on on but, for the most part, they certs are pretty clear of things like that.

We use it to try new restaurants when we go out. If you go to a new place and spend $50 to eat out and it's no good. Bummer. If you go out to a new place and it costs $25 and it's no good...well...I can live with that and not be too grumpy.

All you need to do is go to their website and punch in the location your looking to buy certificates in and all the restaurants in the program, in the area, will pop up. Most even have a link to their menus along with prices. You buy the certificate and print it out. Show the waitress the cert before she writes up the bill, it's as simple as that. The only other thing I can think of is you can only use one certificate per restaurant per month. You can't buy 30 certs and keep showing up on their doorstep everyday.

In a perfect world (for the customer) you could get $35 worth of restaurant food for $11 plus tip. If it's good food, how can you beat it.

well crud. I bought 4 for one restaurant, and paid with paypal. It processed, but got stuck returning me to restaurant.com.

Then I bought for 2 other restaurants, and paid with visa. Those went through, and I can print them.

I checked paypal, and the payment to restaurant.com went through but NO certificate. Arrrrggghh. Called the phone number, it won't even ring!

Does anyone have suggestions on which restaurants to go to and use the certificates close to disney? like lake buena vista area, orlando.

Ugh...I also paid with Paypal (1 certificate) and got the confirmation of payment from Paypal but noticed my certificate is still in my cart at Restaurant.com. What's the deal?

I've tried twice to make purchases as my co-worker sent me the email and both times I get stuck at the end and never get the fully completed page after entering my CC info. This was about 30 minutes ago and I still don't have an email confirmation. I figure I'll stay away from the website and let the confirmations come through if they do in an hour or so via email. I don't want to keep trying and end up with too many gift cards... ?????

Can anyone tell me how the dinner of the month works? Do you have a year from the month you print the certificate to use it?

Yes.

So if you buy a dinner of the month today and use this months 'credit' to purchase for a place 3 months from now, that certificate will expire one year from the time you purchased it. Purchase date for a certificate would be the date you use that credit not the date you purchased the credit. :thumbsup2

If a restaurant you are interested in is sold out now, you can purchase yourself a generic restaurant.com gift certificate using the code and redeem it when the place you are interested in has them back in stock. :thumbsup2

I cant see where you put the code in

First you have to add something to your cart. After you do that, on the next page you should see a box somewhere near the upper right hand side of the screen where you can put in a discount code. Enter NINETY into that box and it should say you discount has been applied!

This is great! We live in an area where there are a lot of good restaurants that participate in Restaurant.com....

trying to buy generic restaurant.com certs now, but it won't go through. I hope it isn't charging me -- I am trying again. My bff can't get hers to go through either. Bummer.

I am having the same problem...I get to the "process" page and it goes no further....should I just quit or what?? I tried to call them and the number doesn't work. Do they usually send you a confirmation by email?? Should I just wait or what? I'm so frustrated right now!! Barb

My order took about 10 minutes to process so I would just wait. I did get an email confirmation and from there you can print your certificates.....
