We booked the 9:30am Keys To The Kingdom behind-the-scenes tour. When I called to reserve it, I was told we should leave our resort, Pop Century, 90 min before our 9:15 meeting time if taking the WDW bus. Does it really take that long?

We have a rental car, but planned to bus to the MK. Is that a bad idea in this situation?

I would just take the bus, but I don't mind waiting or being early. If you miss the first bus and the second one is full weeeeeell you may be in trouble. Plus it is vacation so why not relax and not drive ?

I think the 90 minutes is a default suggestion to everyone for any type of reservation.

I stayed at POP earlier this month and I would guesstimate that the "actual" time to get to MK from POP was about 20 minutes. However it took about 45 minutes to get to the MK bus station and an hour to get to the gates, because we missed a bus and had to wait for the next one to get there.

As wonderful as Disney transportation is, there is no guarantee for anything. If you are concerned about time I would personally drive or get to the bus stop early, just in case. Also remember too that if you drive, to allow time to get parked and on the monorail/ferry and through the gates.

HTH!!:)

Be out at the MK bus stop no later than 8:45.....the only reason to try to leave sooner is if it is within about 30 mins of park opening, the buses can be very crowded, and you could find yourself waiting for a second bus.

I would drive the car. Everytime we have driven to MK for rope drop (RD), we have parked within walking distance of the TTC so no need to wait on the tram. Even if waiting for the tram, its not like waiting for a bus at the resort which will likely be a longer wait. It is usually a very short wait and ride for the monorail or ferry at the TTC to get to the MK.

I'd get there for RD and get a fastpass since you won't need to be at the tour until 9:15 or a little after...

But it is right at park opening.

And even if it weren't, 30 minutes is too short, allowing for a 20 minute wait, 15 minute ride, plus the walk to and getting thru the turnstiles.

I think 75 minutes before the meeting time would be the minimum at that time of day. That would put the OP at the bus stop at 8 a.m., which should just beat the opening crush. 15 minutes later, and she could start seeing full buses.

We def. plan to make a mad dash for Space Mt FPs. So rope drop is our goal.

I'm figuring we either bus by 8:15 or leave with the car at 8:30. Would those times work?

I would plan to be at the Bus Stop at 8:05 or leaving in the car at 8:15-8:20. The extra 10 minute buffer may relieve a little stress that could build up if there are some longer delays.

The MK has a nice show just prior to letting folks into the hub area.

Duh....that warrents a slap up side the head!! Not sure what I was thinking when I posted. So...with that in mind..yeah, what he said!!!

Can I ask a question along the same lines?
We have a KTTKT next week! It is on an EMH morning-we booked the 8:30tour. Does anyone have a suggestion on what time should we get to the bus stop at SSR?
I was thinking 7:30 be AT the busstop but now I'm thinking earlier.

Morning crowds tend to be more spread out on EMH mornings, but I would feel safer at 7:15.
