Unfortunately, my DH and I both have Covid. We will just qualify for the 90 day recovery rule. Where do we get the documentation? Does it just require proof via PCR results?

Thanks

you need test result (with DOB) AND doctors note.

If you have tested positive for COVID-19 within 11 to 90 days of your sail date and would like to be identified as 90-Day-Recovered, please upload to Safe Passage the following:

  • A copy of your previous positive COVID-19 test result which is greater than 11 days and less than 90 days from your expected sail date. The test must have been antigen, NAAT, rapid PCR or lab-based PCR. The test result must include your date of birth.
  • A signed letter (on official letterhead that shows the name, address and phone number of a licensed healthcare provider or public health official) stating that you have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 90 days and are clear for travel.
  • Vaccinated Guests must also upload proof of vaccination in addition to their 90-Day-Recovered documentation.

Hmm, in Canada the doctors note would cost more than just getting the antigen test. I guess you are paying for the piece of mind that you won’t be denied boarding?

I guess I should also ask, is a doctor the only “licensed healthcare provider “ they accept? Technically, I could get my pharmacist to write a letter?

I doubt a pharmacist would be allowed to write a recovery letter given they have very little training in health exams to make that determination. An np or pa could.

I'm a physician.

When can you upload the covid test results and doctor's letter to safe passage? Does it need to be a certain amount of time before the cruise, or can you upload it now for say a September cruise?

Safe Passage opens 15 days prior to sailing, you can upload the positive test/doc note then

Actually I was able to log into safe passage back in July because that was the cruise I was supposed to be on before I got covid. So I have an account and they have my vaccine card. I just held off uploading my positive test result as I wasn't sure what to do at the time. Now I'm rebooked for September. I guess I have to wait until the 15 day mark again to upload the documentation? But I can get that doctor letter at any time now?

Oh, I didn't realize that. If you have an account I would try to get that uploaded now, worth a try. You can get the doctor letter any time you're healthy enough, though many have waited 10 days from positive test. Make sure your name, DOB, date of positive test (our docs added what kinda test it was too), that you are "recovered and clear to travel". We gave our docs a paper with those requirements on it and they appreciated it so they could make sure all the correct wording was on it for us.
Hope your cruise is amazing.

You may have an existing Safe Passage account but can't add a new cruise reservation until that 15-day mark.

For recovery letters, we used mdanywhere and it was easy. Cost was $69/pp.

That sounds great, but I read somewhere it’s only available to US citizens .

Looks like evivacare might be an option but I have no experience with them.
Someone on our cruise used them successfully. They were in the US though. We used MD Anywhere.

The test must be officially witnessed. At home antigen won’t count. However, at home antigen that is proctored through telehealth might count.

DH tested positive with a government issued home test on 7/8. I had a positive PCR test about 6 days later. There is no issue for me to get the results and a recovery letter but since we just moved here to Florida, DH is not an established patient with any doctors. I believe I had read the reasoning for the 90 day recovery letter is that it may still be possible to test positive after recovery. Is that accurate? Is this a potential issue for DH?

Have him do a home test now - if he's negative, you should be fine for the pre-sail testing. He won't be able to get a recovery letter with just a home test. The test had to have been proctored by someplace that then provided official results.

Once you have an official positive test, he could use someone like MD Anywhere to get a recovery letter. Must have official positive result first.

He has been negative for a while with the home test. My concern was I thought I read that some tests could come back positive depending on the kind of test administered, which is why they do the 90 day recovery option. I don't know where I thought I saw that though.

I still have the positive home test but I don't think that's "official". I think I will see if I can get him an appointment somewhere for his routine physical and maybe he can show the doctor the test, they can retest him and write the letter. I'm sure it will all work out.
