I have cut out all sugar and white foods. I have lowcarbed for years off and on but I must have screwed up my metabolism because I havent lost a lb in 3 weeks of being on plan.

Any ideas? Ideally I would love to lose 25lbs but I dont see that happening in 9 weeks.

Welcome to WISH!

First of all just trying to lose weight quick usually results in fad diets that may let you lose weight quickly but you will put it back on as soon as you start eating normally again. To successfully lose weight you need to make lifestyle changes. Just eliminating foods is not going to work long term. You need to watch how many calories you are eating and how many you are burning with exercise. Unless you burn more calories than you eat you will not lose weight even if you are eliminating foods. You may have been eating more calories than you realized these last few weeks which resulted in you staying the same weight.

Start tracking how many calories you are actually eating by writing every bite that goes in your mouth and measuring portions. You might be suprised because 30 calories here and there can really add up. I have been using sparkpeople.com to track my food and exercise and it is really helping keep me on track since I know where I stand on calories everyday.

Good Luck!

Hi-

We are headed to WDW in 9 weeks as well. DH and I have a contest going to see who can lose more before the trip and the winner gets a money prize.

I am doing WW and LOTS of exercise. I have lost 34 lbs so far, and have 66 more to go to goal. I want to lose 12 before we go on our trip, which would put me at 170lbs, a weight I have not seen in 10 years.

Are you doing any exercise-walking, weights, swimming etc? Are you eating a lot of protein, or more veggies/fruit? I don't know a lot about the low carb plans as I just cannot do them. I don't eat "white" foods anymore, but I have to have bread and love sweet potatoes.

BTW, we are in the world from 9/12-16, staying at CSR. Hope to see you there!!!

Hi Veronica :wave2:

I didn't realize who you were until I saw your link at the bottom of your signature! lol

Anyway, I agree with your method of weight loss. My DH and I have been doing South Beach for the past 6 weeks and it's great to have someone to do it with. I'm also fortunate because a few of the women that I work with are also doing it; in fact we have a contest at work right now to see who can lose the most percentage of body weight by August 31st. Currently I'm in the lead

Iluvthemouse: Which "plan" are you doing? I think Becka's idea of writing everything down is good because sometimes we eat a little more or a little differently than we think we are, and it'd be easier to see where you can improvements when it's right in front of you in black and white. Make sure you get your protein every day.

Keep up the good work though, because getting discouraged and reverting back to bad eating habits is never going to help, but trudging through a slump or plateau is the best thing to do, even though it's difficult when you don't see any reward (such as a weight loss), for all of your efforts. Hang in there! :thumbsup2

Hi Terry!!! Good to see you here!:wave2:

Good for you on your weight loss with SBD. You are right, it is great to do it along with someone, who motivates you to succeed. Writing down what you eat is critical-I keep a food diary in Outlook and tally up my points. I also keep a weight loss log in Excel and track everything. You can't always be accurate by guesstimating.

Gotta keep doing this:yay: but not a lot of thispopcorn::

Thanx for the advice and info everyone.:goodvibes
Veronica and SeaSpray--Congrats on the losses.:cheer2:

I am sure my story is similar to everyone elses. I have tried every "diet" in the book.

I lost the most on South Beach and Atkins. I starve on WW and SlimFast.

Right now I am trying to do a lower carb. I dont eat white foods and I rarely eat sugar (I am a sugar freak). I have to eat alot of fiberous foods to keep my IBS/constipation at bay---flax, brown rice (occasionally), broccoli, high fiber bread/tortillas/crackers.

I have an elliptical that I will try tackling 3x a week. I am also going to start doing weights but not really sure how much and how many reps.

Forgot to add we will be at the world Sep 13-21 at All Star Music. We stayed at CSR last year and LOVED it. I hope we arent disappointed but we just couldnt spend the extra for the upgrade this year.
