9 weeks pregnant at disney what rides should I avoid

:rotfl2:

I totally misread the title. I thought it was asking which rides to avoid at 9 months pregnant. LOL

I was thinking just about everything.

With all due respect to everyone here (including myself) who have traveled to WDW while pregnant, we should not be the ones advising OP.

OP, go to the link that Robo so kindly posted, print it out, and take it to your doctor. Discuss the list with them and follow their instructions. Nobody here is qualified to advise on your pregnancy as we don't know you or your medical history.

A baby is a precious thing...don't trust it's safety to a message board ;)

Well said. Check with your doctor regarding a previous baby. Safety is not for the boards. So true about asking probably what seems like a simple question, but know one knows or needs to know your medical history.

I'm envious that you can even be in Disney World at 9 weeks...I start vomiting at 6 weeks and it doesn't let up until 14 weeks...as much as I will miss the baby years, this pregnancy being our last means I will never have that all day vomiting for weeks on end...blah:crazy2:

Amen sister... Except I vomit up to 39 weeks when I demand my doctor delivery my baby bc if I spend one more day puking I may jump off a bridge! I'm jealous of anyone who can go to WDW preggo! Which is why we won't even start trying until two weeks before our upcoming trip. I'm taking no chances!

those warnings are a bit OTT though
basically they all say the same thing.

For safety and comfort, you should be in good health and free from heart, back, or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride.

basically a catch all.

Thanks for all the info
I go back to my dr on sept 3
I'm going to ask him to see what he says
I will let you know

Glad you are asking your doctor. Mine told me to avoid Winnie the Pooh, which I hadn't expected. I was high risk though and further along. Your doctor will know what is best for your specific situation.

Even if you avoid some rides, you will still have a great time!

Glad you're asking your dr. Mine ok'd more than I thought he would, but I was on my third uneventful pregnancy

Personally, I would never choose to go pregnant again. Especially in the summer. I actually lost 3 lbs while there which is not great since I had only gained 1 lb. up to my 20 weeks. So now at 20 weeks, I've got a negative weight gain. So much walking, sweating, and not eating (in the summer because it's just too hot). I thought I would be fine, but watching my family going on all of our favorite rides without me...well, hormones....yes, there were tears. My only saving grace is that we go annually and I know we will be back in April and I'll be able to ride everything. Just my two cents...

I totally get this. I'll be 24 weeks when we go in November & I see tears in my future. Silly hormones. Glad I'm not the only one.

Asking the Dr is definitely best if you're intending to ride.
Personally I was popping in to see how many rides are commonly ruled out, to help deciding if I should reschedule the trip for next year.

Based on reads here, if I get a + next week, we'll take the $ and visit family in NY for Xmas, and do Disney next year when baby is 6m.

I ask my dr she said it was k to ride basically anything since I'm in my first trimester
She said roller coaster were fine

My OB is a practice. I have my main OB, but I am supposed to see the others at least once in case they are on call when I deliver. So anyway, I saw a different doctor my second appointment and asked him about our upcoming trip and he said I could not ride anything :scared: "even the kiddie rides pose a risk" he claimed. And he told me this when I was very newly pregnant. I did not even know I was carrying twins at that point, so I was a very very low risk pregnancy. I had to wait 4 weeks till I saw my regular OB and despite discovering I am carrying twins at that appointment (as as such considered high risk), she gave me the basic rules that everyone else has discussed (no heavy g-forces or anything that can hit the belly hard) and gave me the green light for the trip. Although I will only be 17 weeks, I look a lot further along so she is going to give me a "permission slip" this week to avoid any issue getting on the flight or DCL cruise this month.

So after a long ramble the moral of my story is to listen to your doctor, but trust your instinct. I have been to disney 1000 times. I knew the first doctor was way too cautious. My real OB confirmed that everything will be fine.

Some doctors are scared of sue happy clients. Maybe the other OB felt like you may blame and/or sue him if he said x, y, z are safe but you ended up miscarrying or have a child with a birth defect. Not saying that you woukd sue but saying some doctors would rather take then you can't do anything course instead of facing a nasty emotion filled lawsuit.

It's really sad that doctors think it's OK to lie to patients. Regardless of reason (cya, etc), lying shouldn't be something we all accept as something doctors "just do".
It's so hard to find a provider you can trust.. Almost every woman has anecdotal evidence of her birth practitioner lying to her. The same can be said of any field, but the instance seems to be highest in maternal care.
So frustrating.
/end rant

Pretty sure that if you're still allowed to be in a vehicle daily at 60+ mph, you can handle the Dumbo ride. Call me crazy.
