9 nts at Disneyland Resort?

We just returned today from 7 nts at DLH (DH, DS7 and DS9 and me) and while we liked the hotel and are glad we tried it, we definitely decided next time we'd do the GCH. Our experience at Goofy's kitchen wasn't spectacular, just average and for that much $ I expected better. (We've done lots of character dining at WDW, so I don't think my expectations were out of line.)

It was mainly me who decided to do DLH this time, thinking that the GCH was too much like WL at WDW, and I wanted to do something different. I think they've done enough to give it a different feel, and the pool area and restaurants were so much nicer. Also, the gift shop had more GCH-specific items and longer hours (so important when you're squeezing every hour into the parks).

Hi,
We are looking forward to this trip! We will definitely take the time to explore all three resorts (my favorite passtime at WDW).
Wish we could spend all 9 nts there, but can't fly all the way from the east coast (MA) and not spend a little time on a CA beach :sunny:
Again, thanks to all for your replies and good advice.
Deb

UPDATE:
We are booked !
Finally decided to stay all nine nts at DL...Will do day trips to the beach.
Couldn't get GC for all 9 nts, so booked DLH resort view (requested Sierra Tower, DTD view, NS).

Booked a AAA package with Disney Visa, which gives us the multiple FP, and the Visa perks...The multiple FP sounds too good to be true! Is it? ;)
We are very excited about this wonderful DL vacation :cool1:

Deb,
We just got back from DL and the multiple fastpass was great!!! You can have 1 fastpass per ticket for every ride in DL and DCA that offers them!!
We stayed at the GC with Theme Park views, and my DH and I both agree that, except for the view, we really prefer the DLH. I'm glad we tried the GC, but in the future we'll go back to the DLH. The proximity to DCA was great, but since we spend most of our time in DL the monorail is our favorite method of transportation and the DLH is closer. The GC is very sprawling and our rooms were extremely far from the elevator. We had 3446 & 3448 and it was quite a trek to the rooms.
My family could easily do 9 days in DL. I'm really jealous!!

boosmom96,
Thanks for your reply (btw, my DD's name is Amy), We are very excited... The AAA FP sounds awsome.

We can keep trying to up grade to the GC, but I'm thinking that being at the DLH will be fun. Now I'm wondering if I should have booked Concierge Level. Are the concierge rooms just in the Sierra Tower, or in all 3 towers?
We booked a resort/ pool view, could we be any where, or just the Sierra Tower?
Any more info on the DLH is welcome :)

Thanks,
Deb

Deb,
We never do concierge, but we have always booked resort/pool view and we have stayed in all 3 towers. I actually kind of like Bonita. It's farther away, but I feel that the rooms are bigger. The last time we were there we had connecting rooms that each could comfortably sleep 5. (Without a sleeping bag on the floor!!) They really don't have balconies at DLH. (Or at least in the rooms I've stayed in.) They have a slider with a railing so you can open it all the way and pull your chairs up to it.
If it's possible, I really like the idea of splitting your stay between the 2 hotels. They are very different and I think it would be fun. I know I'm in the minority in prefering the DLH over GC.
I really think you'll be happy at either hotel.

I agree - try splitting your stay. The concierge is only in the Sierra tower. I have only ever stayed in the DLH but am dying to stay at GC. Everything I have heard is that it is wonderful. If you are used to the themed hotels of WDW then GC is going to remind you more what you are used to with WDW.
