9 Night Trip- Pop or Contemporary?

I really like Pop and we stayed their for 8 nights last month; however, we did get sick of it about 5 days in to the trip. I really wish I had split the stay. I would either see if I could afford a moderate for your entire trip or split the stay.

Sick of it because of the hard beds? or just sick of staying in one place that long? What about Pop made you sick?

My vote is for a moderate resort(CBR)It's better to go 9 days and stay at a mod than stay only stay 5 in a deluxe.Remember a value resort :scared1: is just that a value and you can't compare it to anything. Its apples and oranges no matter how you look at it.:upsidedow

The beds were a problem. They weren't hard. On the contrary, they were squishy and had "dents." The beds were much more worn than on our last trip two years ago.

Otherwise, I just didn't feel relaxed enough. All the bright colors, the activity, and the more frantic ambiance got to me in the end.

I loved the Pop when we stayed there two years ago for 5 nights. I think it is the combination of a longer stay with a more worn hotel room.

we have stayed at Contemporary, W Lodge, A Kingdom Lodge, Pop Cent, Carribbean Beach Resort, Alll Star Sports, Boardwalk, Port Orleans FQ. Contemp was cool with theme park view and monorail. to us the monorail is the holy grail for ease of transportation. Wilderness lodge was an awesome resort and has a boat to MK thus ranking high on our charts. Animal kingdom savannah view was cool but a bit dissapointing, the animals were a bit farther away than we thought and we had gotten up at the crack of dawn to see the feedings. I don't care for the moderates because the rooms are virtually the sae as value but the big thing we didn't like was the l o n g walks fro room to main pool and building at carribbean beach. however, we loved Port Orleans FQ, a bit more compact in layout but quiet, nice landscaping etc....

one thing you could look into is renting DVC points www.dvcbyrequest.com
whether DVC or cash, you get nuked for Fri and Sat nights, except at values. maybe you do values on weekends and deluxe on Sun to Thurs.

sorry fo rthe scattered thougts.

If I am going for more than a few days, I always like to split my stay. I generally will stay at a less expensive resort for the days when I am out and about at the parks, etc. And I will save a deluxe for the last few days when I am winding down, and just want to stay by the pool, enjoy fireworks from my resort, or go to the spa. That works best for me. I get the best of both worlds.
ETA: I really like the contemporary. If you can fit in a couple days there, I think it's well worth it.

I've got chime in here and ask if you've considered a stay at the Dolphin or Swan....

Certainly nicer than the Pop and arguably better than all the Mods. With a little research online you can get a great rate, and stay at a deluxe hotel with a wonderful location.

Whatever you decide, IMO it's not good to be 'hotel poor'. In other words, don't shave days off of your vacation just for the room where you'll just basically sleep and shower anyway.

The CR is in a great location, sure, but it's under a lot of construction right now and still there's that 'sterile feeling' to the place.

Just my 2 cents
