9-month old nephew needs surgery (updated)

My brother's youngest child, Daniel, was determined to have fluid on his brain this week and needs to have surgery to insert a shunt to help drain the fluid.

I've only gotten a few details, but apparently, when they brought him in for his 8 month checkup, they became concerned that his head measurement was 20% higher than the previous checkup. They did an MRI yesterday and confirmed what they were suspecting. I don't know when the surgery is going to be, but if you could keep the little guy in your thoughts, I'd appreciate it.

My son is going to Boston Childrens to be seen for the same thing in Aug. His doctor said he has a large head and it is over the 90 percentile. So he is going to get checked out. I am not too concerned because my dd has a large head also, so its probably in his genes...please let me know how everything goes and I send my prayers

My son had fairly major surgery at 2 months old, so I understand how difficult this can be. I also learned that the doctors and nurses that work with such small children are capable of performing miracles.
