9 Magic nights in Norway 6/20/2015

Hi lola1972. I'm sorry I couldn't get back to you until now. I spent last week in Walt Disney World. I'm still trying to catch up. I checked on the excursions you asked about. I checked for availability overall, as I couldn't check for a family of 4 specifically. For the AL11, I see a 2:00 pm departure, for the GE08, it is unfortunately listed as sold out, and for GE06, it shows an 11:45 am departure.

I don't know if I've ever been on a Signature port adventure. I just choose what looks interesting to me and I don't think I ever noticed if they were called Signature or not.

Hope that helps.

Hi Stitch 1313! Hope you had a great trip down here! I missed your message earlier in the week and just saw it today. Thank you for working on that for me! I was up last night booking....some things sold out for sure but here is what I booked for myself & DH..DS11.5 & DS7.5

Stavanger- Stavanger old and new
Alesund - viking village
Geiranger- Herdalsetra Mt. farm
Molde- Atlantic Road
Olden- Briksdal Glacier
Bergen-Bryggen & Mt Floen

YAY that this is over! Thanks to everyone that helped me out!

Hey John, I definitely understand the dilemma in Pulpit Rock excursion as you can clearly do this excursion without Disney with just a little research and will share them with you below. Since I am doing by myself, my wife and daughter, 7.5 are going on the Lysefjord Land & Sea Tour and I figured by paying for the Disney excursion they will take care of all of the transportation coordination & availability with bus & ferry so that I can simply concentrate on the day, the hike, the scenery and the overall experience. That for me is well worth the price of their excursion and I amanita fighting with locals, other cruise ship passengers to gain way on to buses, ferries and then have to constantly check my watch to make sure I am okay for time. Maybe if I had done it previously, it would be different but that is my opinion. As far as the companies, www.pulpitrock.no and www.tidereiser.com are two who offer tours if you decide to do on your own.

We are gong to have an awesome cruise and cannot wait like yourself and perhaps we will meet on the Top of Pulpit Rock. Take Care.

Eric
Hey Eric, Thanks for the info. Very cool and I appreciate it. We went ahead and decided to book thru Disney. I figured it would guarantee us off the ship right away and pretty much all the reasons you just stated. If you book with Disney let me know, that would be cool to meet up.

Hey John,

Cool. I am booked on the Disney Pulpit Rock excursion as well and hope to meet you both as well. So looking forward to this hike and our cruise. It simply cannot come fast enough!

John, If I am able to find the thread on another board for the Pulpit Rock Disney Group I will let you know as well.

GREAT Day to you all. We just booked this morning!!!! I so excited. I promise to be up to speed by the end of the weekend LOL.

Welcome lilbuddy88. Glad you are on this excellent cruise with us and you have a lot of catching up to do. There are is a large group outside of this forum on popular social media site you should search for. I cannot give the details per policy of this site but please respond if you have any trouble and will figure it out.
Congratulations again as this is shaping up to be a wonderful cruise to one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

Hello everyone! It's been so long since I've been on DIS or on a disney cruise that i had to sign up again for DIS...new name and everything! Anyway, my husband and 4 yr old will be going on this cruise. We are so excited! I know we are behind a little in planning...but just starting to look at ports. We are gold members and we were planning on booking excursions when it opened up for us a few weeks ago but life got in the way! I noticed that a lot of excursions run through Disney are for ages 5 and up (including some of the scenic bus tours), which is kind of disappointing. My son will be 5 in September, so I don't suppose there is any way around this? Any suggestions on ports with a child that DIsney will allow? We are probably going to book some on our own because of the restrictions....but just wondering if anyone has any suggestions! :)

Glen-I agree-we have sailed the most on the Magic and she is definitely our favorite! Can't wait to try the AquaDunk-although I admit I am having problems with heights recently so I might have to have my daughter tell me all about it. Too bad about our front row passes to the Aquadunk for starting this thread!
Sounds like a real great itinerary and places we have never been so looking forward to it!
Elizabeth
Hello Elizabeth,

We went on the MAGIC last year cause we had only cruise on the DREAM and FANTASY ships four times and wanted to try the original after all of the improvements. I rode or should I say survived the AQUADUNK! It is a VERY FAST, did I SAY FAST from the time Donald Duck's nephews count down from 3,2,1 the floor drops out from underneath you and the next thing you know you are laying at the bottom with Disney person telling you to get out. You have to really ride it 5-10 times to enjoy in my opinion as the experience is so short. Oh yeah, do not wear any jewelry, watches as they will not let you on the ride and if you have waited 30 minutes and you get up there with nice necklace, bracelet or watch, there is no place for them. The Disney person was nice enough to hold my expensive watch but was a bit unnerving handing him this watch, but they are Disney and they are GREAT. Enjoy your ride.

Eric

Hello FrauleinBecca,

Welcome to the cruise. We too are GOLD Castaway Cay members and there are plenty of really good excursions listed on DCLs Port Adventures or your Cruise Activities for children ages 3 & up which you can book. Where the age limit is 5 or above, I would not bother to push this with Disney as they do not, and will not alter their policies as SAFETY First is and FOREMOST is their number one organizational priority. Not your satisfaction, not your experience, but your safety and sure that there are reasons for age requirements whether we agree with them or not, believe you me, they would not allow me to take my daughter on the AquaDuck because she was literally, less than 1/8 inch too short. For Alesund, there is great Viking experience, Geiranger, plenty of sightseeing opportunities and mountain farms, Stavenger, Viking Museums, etc... Take some time and really look at the choices and believe you will get excited to see there are plenty of things to do and perhaps in some ports on your own may work best as well. Good luck with your search & Activities.

Thanks Eric! My husband and I will be researching away this weekend :)

Just sent my packet of maps, etc. to Lynda - enjoy! I want you to know all the Hop Buses have really good "free" wifi - so after I did the route I would go around again to catch up on my e-mails. Always save your receipts as they give you 10% off on the next Hop bus you use. I didn't use them in Bergen but I did use them in Copenhagen, Alesund, and they are in Geiranger too. Geiranger is very small but absolutely beautiful. We were the 1st boat in town. We had to tender - only 1 boat can dock so maybe the Magic will dock. I did not do the ship tours. I used Geirangerfjord Services. I booked on-line for the rib boat, the bus tour to Mt. Dalsnabba (forgot the spelling), and the Panorama Hop Bus. They charged half of what the ship was charging. Excellent tours but the roads are really scary if you are afraid of heights - excellent bus drivers! You can't miss them They are in the center of the little village. They also have very good Wi-Fi and all the ship's crew sit out there to do their e-mails. Be sure to do the waterfall staircase. It just opened this Summer - really pretty - very nice museum at the top. Chocolate factory is very good - only food I bought off the ship. The Rib boat tour took us out to 7 Sisters Waterfall and told a lot of history of the area. Your mouths will be dropping when you see all be beautiful sights. Hoping I get to do it again next Summer. Oh, I was in Norway August 11 - 23. Be sure to take sweat shirt hoodie, light jacket, Mickey Rain coat, umbrella. I live in Florida so I was always layering to stay warm.
Stavanger - supposedly the most expensive city in Norway but I think it is Oslo. We docked right downtown - next to all the shops. Beautiful city - I didn't see a lot as #1 on my Bucket List was to hike to Pulpit Rock. I had been told I couldn't do it as it takes a minimum of 8 hours from Stavanger. The cruise specialist on my ship said it would take 10 hours. Wellllllllllllll, you don't tell a 70 year old woman she can't do something because she'll just do it. We had 7 1/2 hours. I was determined!!! I was so lucky - our captain docked 20 minutes early (9:40) and off I ran to catch the ferry to Tau then the bus. The hike was amazing. I made it back with 30 minutes to spare. If anyone on this cruise wants to hike Pulpit Rock I will be glad to give them all the information I have. Next post will be about Alesund and Copenhagen. Enjoy your planning!
Hello Anna,

Who helped you with your Disney Door Magnets? I have a lot of ideas and thought I would ask. Let's plan on our Palo dinner once we are on board to lock that down and look forward to meeting you and sharing wonderful meal and conversation. Eric

Hi Eric - I just signed Aiden and I up for your Geiranger tour and am interested in Olden if you get that arranged - then my port excursions would be finished! Yea! I got my door magnet designs from Barb's Designs here on disboards - just go to the regular board under Disney cruiseline and scroll down until you find Barb's Designs - don't think you can make your own designs for her to do but she has 100's of her designs that she personalizes for you. The ones she did for me are on page #82 - then I buy a box of magnet sheets at Staples and run them through my computer - so easy! It makes our door easy to find.

Eric, we are also doing Pulpit Rock on our own as are a few others. Some of us are chatting on other social medias sites. I agree that The CC board is pretty sloe for Disney cruises. We are glad you are joining us.
I'd love to chat about events being planned on other venues. Especially FEs. Would appreciate any advice you can give. I'm new at social media. Maybe someone will help me? My kids are crying because there' no FE on this thread! My email is mermaidmama59@gmail.com

Thanks,
Susan

Looks like we will be joining everyone, I'm just waiting on my vacation approval request! This will be our 18th Disney cruise, but we've never been to Norway before. I think we are going to take a quick side-trip to Paris before the cruise and then head back to Copenhagen on Friday and spend the day at Tivoli Gardens.

Is there a FB page or a FE signup? There is usually a section on the first page by the post originator with the people going on the cruise, FE information and links for hotels, pre/post cruise. Just wondering if anyone has started that.

Hi! We are a family traveling with two boys 11 & 7 from Tampa, FL. This will be our 5th Disney cruise. I'm very happy to see a family with some boys the same age as mine! I was getting a little worried that this cruise would be a little girl heavy with the whole Frozen phenom going on.

Hi LOLA1972! We are just outside of Tampa in Wesley Chapel. I'll have my DS(14) joining us.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply...just returning from a trip. That's fantastic news that you will be on the cruise! So nice to have neighbors on board. We live over in the westchase area. I am familiar with Wesley Chapel...We have friends there. What are your plans for shore excursions? Tell me about you and your family. Looking forward to meeting you

kmitchel..... This is our first attempt at participating in an FE. I Haven't heard of anyone formally organizing yet, so please keep your Tampa friends in the loop if you hear anything. It's getting pretty close now. I don't want to miss anything.

My husband (Rod) and I will be sailing this cruise, getting excited!

Kmitchell, we are not allowed to mention that other social media site on the board (or they will ban you) but if you did a search out there you would likely find the group. Try a Disney Magic Norway search. Good luck.
