9 Magic nights in Norway 6/20/2015

Hello!

My husband and I booked this cruise during our 9 day Alaska cruise at the end of May. We are really excited! I also sent a request to join the Facebook group, since I am more active on Facebook than here. Thank you in advance to anyone who can add me.

One year from today!!!!!! :yay:

I made our reservation back in May for this cruise when I first saw it. Cruising will be me (Eric), my two daughters (12 and 10), and my mom - her ancestors hail from Norway. My mom and I have been wanting to see Norway for quite a while and this looked like a perfect opportunity, plus a great trip for my kids. Also looking forward to Copenhagen where my grandfather is from. We'll be flying from Minneapolis, MN and will have a full day for sightseeing the day before we cruise. We're looking forward to being on the reimagined Magic.

Thanks for the thread from Booger73. That is most helpful. I'll be using that info for planning.

So how are flight from Minneapolis to Denmark? We are just starting to look, but coming from Arizona, we might have to make a stop somewhere even before getting to Europe.

Our DD is 12 as well. Nice to see some that are her age. DH's grandfather came from Norway, so at least some history for him.

We will be celebrating her 80th birthday (it is in November 2015), she took me to Tahiti for my 50th :) I asked her where she wanted to go and she said the Fjords are on her bucket list - so here we come!

Hi Everyone - Just got back from a cruise on the Fantasy yesterday. We went ahead and booked the 9 night Norway Cruise for 2015. VERY EXCITED. Cruising will be myself, my DW, DD (11 at time of cruise). Also cruising will be my Mom and Dad and my Mother in Law who is from Norway.

Hi! We are joining as well! I also hoped for a SPH, but settled for a 9C instead. I loved our DCL Alaska cruise last year, and we are doing one of the Meds this year, so I am excited about returning to fjords next year! My DD will be turning 8 the day before we cruise, so hopefully she will be spending her birthday in Tivoli Gardens!
What is SPH?

What is SPH?

Secret PortHole Stateroom. It is a Category 10A that has an obstructed ocean view. When the magic originally sailed these were classified as a Category 9, but folks complained because the view was obstructed. You can sometimes get them cheaper than an oceanview room.

There is only 6 on the classic ships. 5020, 5022, 5024, 5520, 5522, 5524.

We have one for this cruise, so if we do the wine crawl, you might get to see what one is like. It will be our 3rd time in SPH.

Hi, we just booked yesterday. This will be our first cruise ever for me, ds (10), and dd (5). My MIL and SIL will also be on board. We're all very excited.

Just off the 12 night MAGIC Barcelona to Venice Mediterranean Cruise. Booked this cruise for next summer. Will be me (Carianne), DH (Matt), DS (Grant - 19), and DD (Paige - 16) in 2 rooms on deck 7. Family has history in Norway and looking forward to the scenery.

Well there is no turning back now!

I booked our flight to Copenhagan last night. We are leaving from Boston on Iceland Air arriving very early morning on the 19th. We'll probably use a hoponhopoff tour for the day and then crash from exhaustion with hopefully a good nights rest prior to embarkation. We've used this tactic before and it usually defeats jet lag. Would like a little more time in Copenhagan but this trip could already interfere with DS end of school schedule as is and the B2B is already hitting the budget. We'll likely get one more day in Copenhagan in between the B2B.

Planning next: hotel in Copenhagan, excursions, flight home.

Not sure where to put this question- as a reply or separate entry, (or even which forum to post it into). So, if it's in the wrong place, please let me know! Ok, does anyone know of a airline booking site that allows you to ask about non-stop overseas flights? what i'm running into are 1-2 stop flights. If I could drive up to 4 hrs from home (near Cincinnati) I would be willing to do so for a non-stop or even cheaper flight. I may do a pre-cruise ABD so wouldn't necessarily be flying into Copenhagen. TIA!

Kayak and skyscanner both allow you to click a box to restrict your search for non-stop. We had none out of Boston. We would have had to travel to either JFK for Norwegian or Newark for SAS. DW prefers non-stop too but not enough to drive to NYC to fly.

We just got back from 9 night Magic Venice/Greece cruise yesterday so now I need to get all excited about Norway next year. It will be me, DH Todd, DD Savannah (21) and DS Carter (18). We'd would love to do FE and an adult only group would be fun for a change. My "kids" are all grown up! We had a limit of 25 on that cruise. I love the idea of a wine crawl! We had a Disboards mixology class on this cruise and it was disappointing. We met in Keys and sat in groups of 4 in the chairs in the lounge instead of up a the bar so we didn't really get to talk with many people. It was really more of a tasting instead of mixology classes we have done in the past. The only drink we sort of made was a mojito and all we did for that was mottle the mint and limes and pour in a shot of rum. Looking forward to meeting you all and making plans for the trip.

Welcome back and welcome to the thread. How was Venice and Greece? Our first DCL trip was a 12 night W. Med and will always hold a special place for us.

Hello! We just booked this cruise last week on the Fantasy and we are very excited to visit Norway. It will be me, my husband, and our 2 girls who will be 10 and 7 when we sail.

Welcome. Norway has been our list for a long time. So excited to do it with DCL.

Hello, All!

This is the furthest out that I have ever booked anything except my wedding. We have 10 of us in our extended family joining. Based on the cabins left, I'm certain there are others in the same boat (literally) waiting to join the DisBoards group.

I can't wait to meet everyone and hear about your planning.

How would you describe the inventory left on this sailing when booking? The next sailing frequently shows as sold out.

Welcome to you and your party.

Welcome to you and your party.

All 4 person ocean views on deck 2 are sold out. All 5 person cabins (verandahs) are also sold out. Both of these options sold out in the last week. Concierge is also sold out but that is not unusual. I assume that a 4-day hold by a travel agent or the 119 day no-penalty cancellation free some of these up eventually.
