Alright..I promise to try and make this one a little shorter than day #1.
Day#2-Monday-Oct 25th. We (DH and I) woke up around 6am to get dressed and have a cup or two of coffee. We woke DS up around 7:15 and went down stairs to the Sassagoula Float works and food factory for breakfast. We decided against getting a souvenir mug this year. DS drinks milk for breakfast and DH and I shared a juice. Breakfast was USUALLY the only meal we ate here. I suggest you do get a mug though if you drink something other than water/juice/milk and if you are going to eat most of your meals there. It really is a pretty good deal. I had your standard plain bagel. DS had some fruit loops and DH had french toast with sausage links. My bagel was fine..no big deal there. DH really enjoyed his french toast with sausage links. The french toast was not impressive to me(just regular loaf bread french toast)..but the sausage was good.
We made it to AK a little after 8am. It was not really crowded at all. We immediately headed to the Kilimanjaro Safaris and practically walked right on. We saw tons of animals up close and personal. I swear we could have practically touched a couple of giraffes. DS LOVED it. (So did DH) This is by far my favorite ride at AK. We ended up riding it 2 more times during the day. My advice is ride it as early in the am as you can. It seems that the hotter it is outside/the later in the day it is the less animals you see. We left the safaris and did the pangani forest exploration trail. This was very nice too. Not crowded at all..lots of photo ops with the animals. We did make it over to camp minnie Mickey. DS met Mickey and Minnie in there "Safari" gear. The lines here were pretty long but not unbearable. DH rode the Kali River Rapids (I HATE water rides) and had a blast..but didn't get as wet as he had hoped (It was soooo hot that day) He pretty muched walked onto that ride too. No lines. Headed over to Dinoland U.S.A. This was new for us. It was "under construction" back in 2000. DH rode "Dinosaur" and said it was scarier than he remembered.
We all rode the TriceraTop spin (another dumbo type ride) DS loved it so much we ended up riding it until we all were dizzy. (again no lines) We opted not to try any of the shows for fear that DS would get bored and feel that he had to be the entertainment for everyone. We will try them when he gets older. I didn't want him to ruin any show for anyone else. He's very unpredictable. (what 2 year old isn't??
)
We ate lunch at the Flame Tree BBQ. I had half a chicken...and it was honestly half a chicken..but I was starving so I did eat most of it. It came with baked beans (Ok..nothing to write home about) and maybe slaw or fries (I can't remember..but it was a huge meal. DH and I should have shared it) DH had a bbq beef sandwich..He really enjoyed it. DS refused to eat here so I headed over to Restaurantosaurus and got him a Mcdonalds nugget happymeal..and he was happy.
We didn't have plans for dinner this night and we were exhausted so around park closing time we headed back to the hotel and ate at the Sassagoula Floatworks and food factory again. DS had a pepperoni pizza that he ate 95% of. (That's a HUGE deal. He's very picky) It was made fresh. DH and I had Chicken parmasan (sp??) with noodles, garlic bread and salad. It was ok. Breakfast is clearly the best meal here to me. We ended the night with a drink from Scat Cats and back up to our wonderful room with a view. (Which we would watch through our windows from our bed) Did I mention that we had the MOST confortable bed in the world?? (either that or we were so exhausted that the floor would have been comfortable.
)
In case you are wondering...DS DID take naps. We monitored him throughout the day to see if we needed to head back to the hotel or not for a nap. ..but he ended up taking a nap each day around 1pm (usual nap time) for about 1 1/2 or 2 hours in his stroller.
Day#3 to follow soon. ((MGM))
