9 Day Stay -- Waitlist Questions

Our family is planning to be at WDW for 9 days next December. Our home resort is SSR, so we will book there on a day by day basis at 11 months. However, we don't really want to stay there (we've already stayed there once and we want to stay at all the resorts before we duplicate), so I want to waitlist for some other resorts (VWL, AKL, BWV) at the 7 month mark.

Because I've never waitlisted before, I am hoping that someone can help me with some questions...

1. Can I get on more than one waitlist at a time?

2. Will I have more likelihood of getting in somewhere if I cut my ressie in half (4 or 5 days)?

3. If so, do I need to structure it this way up front when I call at 11 months?

4. I've read that the waitlists are automatic, you just get moved -- is this mandatory or can you choose to be contacted?

5. Any other tips that anyone can give me?

Trying to figure it all out -- appreciate any help you can provide! :)

I'm wondering the same thing - never waitlisted before. I'm curious as how the procedure goes. I'm looking at Thanksgiving 08.

1. Can I get on more than one waitlist at a time? No, not anymore.

2. Will I have more likelihood of getting in somewhere if I cut my ressie in half (4 or 5 days)? Not necessarily, but could be a help at some locations. The best help would be to schedule weekends, since they will be easiest to get.

3. If so, do I need to structure it this way up front when I call at 11 months?

4. I've read that the waitlists are automatic, you just get moved -- is this mandatory or can you choose to be contacted? No longer a choice, it is automatic for all now.
5. Any other tips that anyone can give me?

Thank you for the info! Because there isn't a great liklihood we will get what we want at 7 months, DH has agreed to buy some AKV points for the 11 month booking advantage! Hurrah!

My understanding is that you can go on more than one waitlist, however, as soon as one waitlist request is fulfilled all others are cancelled. In other words, if you waitlist for OKW, BWV and BCV, and OKW comes thru first, OKW is automatically booked with the other two waitlist requests cancelled. You can then call and ask to be added to the waitlist for BWV & BCV, but it becomes a new request and you go to the back of the line.
