Hi there-
I have a 9 am ADR at BOG on a day when the park opens at 9. Will I be allowed into the park early that day in order to get there on time?

Was hoping this adr would help with getting to 7dmt without a fast pass.

No, you'll need a reservation for a time before park opening for that. Get a free Basic Access account at Touring Plans reservation finder to try to get the ressie you want. It's a free service & effective.

They will let you in early. Find a CM and they will direct you. You may not get in at 7:45 but they will let you in early. Remember, the morning show is in the park and people will be let in by 8:30 to watch the show. There will already be a crowd on Main Street. Just find a CM and they will direct you where to go.

EVERYONE is let into the park and onto Main St around 8:00 a.m. They will probably let you through the rope to get to BoG a little early, but not early enough that you will be finished eating and over to 7DMT before the crowds are let in. If 7DMT is your goal, you need an earlier ADR or you need to drop it altogether and just be at the front of the rope at the hub heading to Fantasyland.

Or - if you are willing to pay $10 a person to ride the train - get in early and head straight for the line. You can't get into the standby line at that time, but the fast pass return line will be open.

Or - if one person in your party wants to eat and the others want to ride - you can split up back there and not pay the penalty.

If you can't find an earlier ADR time, the other option would be to get one a bit later (which should be an easier one to find) and hit 7DMT right at 9:00 and then head to your breakfast.

You'd have to be a very fast & determined walker to get to the front of that Mine Train line, though. One tip for that is to go by way of the Tea Cups, not straight back through the castle. If you take the less efficient route to Mine Train or don't stay at the front of the pack, you'll still be greeted by an hour plus line right after rope drop.

1. Get let in a bit early by CMs and head to BOG.
2. Don't go into BOG...instead, hang out with the folks who just FINISHED eating at BOG.
3. Be one of the first to ride after they let the BOG crowd loose.
4. Get back to BOG and tell them you are just a bit late (they will not care...they will still seat you).

Alternatively, if you time it right, you may not even have to go to hang out at the BOG exit while waiting for the ride to open.

I would not recommend this "strategy." They are well within their rights to refuse to seat you AND charge you the $10 no-show fee.

Of course, they are within their rights to refuse to seat you, but, let's be honest, Disney could be sticklers with lots of things - demanding birth certificates, refusing to budge on FP+ return windows, etc., and they don't. Why? Because they want to make their customers happy. I'm not advocating walking up 30 minutes or, heaven forbid, even later after the ADR time because, at that point, you would probably be pushing your luck.

I've been late to meals several times - usually due to unforeseen reasons (monorail issues, diaper blowouts, etc.), and I've never had a CM tell me "sorry". I'm not saying it won't happen at any point in the future, but if we're talking about checking in 10 minutes late, I think everyone here can agree that absolutely nothing will happen.

Being late due to unforeseen circumstances is a far cry from being purposely late because you wanted to get in a ride on 7DMT.

That's not the point. The point is that people are late all the time. Disney still seats them if at all possible, whether they purposefully got a ride in or whether the monorail was down...Disney doesn't need the story - they don't care. You know why? It's because most people who have ADRs rarely get sat on time (in this case, Disney runs late). You really think Disney is going to hold people's feet to the fire over 10 minutes?

Acting like there is a significant risk of a no-show charge due to being 10 minutes late to an ADR is a scare tactic.

By the way, I sort-of did this myself on my most recent trip. We had an 8:35am ADR at Tusker House, and we were trying to get through a safari ride after the 8am rope drop. I think we made it to the Safari standby entrance around 8:10am and we actually didn't get out of jeep until around 8:40am (later than expected because they were only loading on one side of the loading area). We probably made it back up to Tusker House entrance around 8:45am or 8:50am. Nobody said a word. Nobody asked for an explanation as to where we had been. Certainly, nobody turned us away. Instead, we waited about 5 minutes before getting seated.

I'm not sure if I should just cancel the adr. I don't really have to eat at BOG. Just wanted to see it but was hoping for 8am.

I'm glad it worked for you. Just cautioning people that it doesn't always.
