I just received my confirmation from Nikki's for our beach horseback ride in Grand Cayman. We will be picked up at 9 a.m. at the Hard Rock Cafe, which is supposed to be 2 blocks from the dock. With the tender, will we be okay with the timing? On our last Western, we were on a Disney-sponsored excursion, so there was no problem.

You will have to go get a numbered tender ticket and wait in the designated area after breakfast, and they start at 7:30 am. As long as you are there early you SHOULD be able to get off in time but it may tight, depending upon how many DCL excursion folks need to go on early tenders. We didn't tender in until after they began open tendering at 10:45.

Good luck! :)

The Hard Rock Cafe is VERY close to the docking area. You should have no problem meeting Nicki ontime. She has the patience of a saint with the sense of humor of a sinner (both are GOOD character traits - lol). I am sure you will have a terrific ride along the beach. Enjoy!

We did the horseback riding with Nikki in October. We went down for tendering at 8:00 a.m. and were at the Hard Rock before 8:30 a.m. The HRC is not really 2 blocks away. It's basically across the street from where you tender. You will LOVE Nikki and the horses. The beaches you will ride on are deserted and it is a lot of fun. She will cater to your ability to ride and you can do as much or as little as you are comfortable with. My DD (11) had never ridden before and Nikki was great with her. She had the best time and wants to do that again.
You should have plenty of time (unless like Michelle says you have to wait to tender, but that is not usually the rule).

ENJOY!

I have two daughters that haven't riden before. I am not even sure if they would like it. Do you mind telling me some details such as / how much it costs / how long is it/ is lunch included?

thanks Jon

Here is Nicki's email address:

nikiride@candw.ky

I have her business card here somewhere, but I cannot find it right now. She used to be listed on grandcaymanexcursions, but she is no longer with them. I am assuming that it is because of $$, as she is a small operation and mostly gets her customers from local hotels.

It is an hour and a half beach ride. I think you have to be 7 years old to ride (and all riders must be under 225 pounds). Bring your camera because she stops for photo opportunities. Lunch is not included, but Nicki will take you wherever on the Island you would like when your ride is over. We went back to the ship and ate, then back to the Island for a bit. We were done around noon.

I think it was $50ish per person to ride, but I can't remember exactly.

I will look for the card and any other info I may have on the ride. If you like riding, you will love this excursion.

There stable are located right on the beach in Barks so you don't have to walk along the road with cars driving by to get to the beach. Much easier especially with kids. You never can tell when a horse can get spooked from the cars. Penny is a great guide and her horses are beautiful and all were bread and trained in the USA, not ricketty island horses

Happy riding:sunny:
