9/7/06 10 night Wonder Southern Caribbean "Cruising in WONDERland!"

My youngest's school has open house on the 24th. I plan to break the news then. My oldest is on his own with his professors.

Has anyone else started to write their letters for school to let them know your kids will be out of town. I must sit down and do this very soon.

By now you will all have got-up to the news this morning about the increased risk of terrorist attack on trans-Atlantic aircraft. Helen is in a full state of panic and wondering whether we are doing the right thing.

I've tried telling her that there are many flights crossing the Atlantic and there's nothing to indicate it would have been our flight but at the moment there isn't anything I can say that helps.

It's 09:00am here (4:00am EST) so the news on the radio and TV are covering nothing else. Apparently our Prime Minister and your President have been in contact through the night over the developments.

People who were booked on trans-Atlantic flights today are turning back and going home.

I actually just wrote my letters yesterday. DH called to schedule an appt with DS's principal to present the letter in person and when she called him back she said they could talk over the phone. He explained our situtation and she said NO PROBLEM and she will count the absences as excused. All she asked is that we send her the formal letter and then she assigned DS to do a daily journal of where he goes and what he sees to be turned into her upon our return and to contact his 2 teachers and let them know.

DH also has a call into DD's principal and we hope she will be as accomodating to this.

Either way we are going -it will just make it much easier if they excuse it so DD can make up the work she misses.

I woke up in a good mood today! It is Jim's and my 32nd Anniversary It certainly doesn't seem that long but I do have grown children so it obviously has been.We are going out to eat tonight to celebrate and taking our dd21 with us. How romantic.

Ya I heard about this in the morning news before I came to work. How scary for all but I am not going to let this stop me. I really hope Helen will still want to come, I understand how scared she must be though. Hugs to her adn you and everyone else.

I heard the awful news this morning and my first thought was of yall UK people. Please don't let this stop you from having the time of your life. That is playing into just what they want. They want us to be afraid of traveling and to make us run and hide. The best thing to do with this is show them, your not going to stop us. We aren't afraid of you.

Oh My Gosh!

I've been reading about the terrorist at our online newspaper. My first thought was of you, David and Helen. It is very scary but I hope you can still come over and enjoy yourselves here in America.

The government has put a ban on all liguids. Here is what I got off the A/P story
"At Dulles International Airport outside Washington, Homeland Security put up hastily printed signs warning passengers in all-red capital letters, "No liquid or gels permitted beyond security." The signs were taped up at ticket counters as well as the security checkpoints.

Passengers dumped liquids into large trash cans that were being emptied every couple minutes. People threw away water bottles, juice boxes, makeup and even a bottle of tequila."

Everyone who is bringing wine and other liquids might need to call their airports and find out what is allowable.

I don't have to fly but I wonder what will be allowed through the security at the port.

I can only imagine how you must feel. Heathrow is such a crowded airport to begin with, and the lines will be so long. Remember, now that they are "aware" of the threat, the airlines will do all they can to ensure your safety. Probably the best time to fly is now. Keep yourself fixated on all the great times you will have once you arrive in the US. I just know you'll do whatever is best for the two of you.

I just called Disney and asked if they had made any changes and Megan at Disney said that if it passes through the airport than your good to go with them. She said they have the same machines as the airport and all should be fine.

As for those who plan to carry-on a rolling cooler at the port. That has not been changed as of yet and your still good to go.

I was thinking this morning *I wonder how long it will now take us to get through check in....* Right now it takes us at least 1 hr just to check in at the counter.....The last time we flew together the woman told us that we should make our arrangements seperate from DH's..... He has the same name as someone on the *watch list* The spelling of his name is unusual & that makes it significant ..... We're the only people we know that actually HAVE to be at the airport at least 2 hrs early or we would miss our flight.....

I understand Helen's concerns for the safety of the family. We as Americans are so lucky to have England as frineds. I think we all take chances by just walking out the door every morning. We hope all this increased terrorist activity will not stop your trip.

I thought that it would be a good idea if I posted once in awhile (actually my travelling partner told me I should and I always do what my elders tell me).

First off David and Helen. I really hope you come. The idiots (terrorists) have succeeded in their plans when they get everyday people to change their plans. I know that things will look dark but because your government found them and stopped them things are safer. I hope we will see you soon.

Next My name is Chris. My travelling partner is Celia. We still have no clue what our cabin # is so I can't tell you that. As she told you I am a HUGE Chip and Dale fan (mostly Dale). I relate to him since I can get into trouble real easy.

My DH and I will celebrate our 30th anniversary on 9/11. I will be St Lucia and he will be home (sorry honey).

As Celia can tell you I am a lurker more than a poster but when you meet me
I am not like I am on the boards. If you need an explanation just ask me when you meet me.

I am so looking forward to this cruise since I have wanted to do Disney for awhile and I thought this was perfect.
