hello everyone... just want to let everyone know that my DMIL has pulled thru her surgery with flying colors and is recovering faster than expected. Thank you to everyone for the prayers and pixie dust. :grouphug:

Whew, what a week… for those of you that do not know, I run a home daycare.
I care for 14 children everyday. :dance3:
DH is my helper. He plays with the kids and teaches them to build things, to fish, garden, cook, clean, etc. He takes them on field trips, tells them stories, listens to theirs and basically is a surrogate dad for them. The kids LOVE him. He is my rock.

Tuesday, DH left for Houston for his mom’s surgery.

Wednesday 6am… the first child arrived… mom asks if I know what these blisters are that were on the baby’s feet and hands?!.. although I have never seen it, I KNOW instantly that this baby has Hand, Foot, & Mouth disease. …Mom rushes the baby off to the doctor.

As other children arrive, I inform the parents of the first baby’s symptoms and the possibility of an outbreak in the daycare.

One parents says “Oh, my kid had that last week” …

 What?!… :scared1:
I suddenly realize that ALL the children have been exposed! :faint:

Needless to say, by the end of the day, 3 children had arrived WITH blisters, 2 developed blisters and 4 went home with fever. 3 showed no signs.

I went on a mad frenzy of washing EVERYTHING with bleach, and things that couldn’t be washed got tossed.

After reading on the internet and talking with parents who talked to doctors, I find that there is really nothing to do to prevent kids from getting it, other than handwashing. There is no antibiotic or medicine except Tylenol given for pain relief and lots of fluids. All the children have already been exposed so there is no need to remove them from daycare.

I’m exhausted.

Thursday DH calls to check in… I inform him of our situation and he asks me what does it look like? I start out saying “well, its blisters on the…” and he interrupts me by yelling

“ OMG… OMG! I have a mouth full of blisters! I was calling to ask you what to do about them!” Poor DH!... :sad2: I only hope he doesn't spread it to all his family in Houston!... :sad2:

I can see how disease can spread around the world so quickly! What a situation!

I’ve spent the last 2 days replacing and arranging toys and bedding to get ready for this next week.

I NEEEEEEEEEEED this vacation. September can’t come soon enough for me.

:smickey: Mickey … take me away! :boat:

Sandysplayhouse: WOW  What a crazy week for you. And your poor DH. Apparently that is going around down here too.
Glad to hear about your MIL :thumbsup2

Tiggerstac: I cruiseed two years ago when I was 22weeks pregnant as well. Believe it or not, I bought a prom dress from sears (on clearance for $26) that was a size bigger that what I normally wear. There was alot of room in the belly and rear area. It worked out perfectly! ;) We found out the week before we sailed we were having a girl and I say that was her 1st disney cruise! princess:

Dialady: I do the samy as cynjam, I book first then convince :boat:

Sandy
Glas your DMIL is doing ok :thumbsup2

He has also doone professional performances of Joseph in the East of England where he sings in the accompnying childrens choirs in the show - his next one is in October (in Norwich). Apart from two weddings, he doesn't have anymore singing until we get back from Florida so it should be a little quieter in the house.........

......The final term (Summer term) then starts with a week off for Whitsun week and then continues to around the 20th of July. Then there is a six week holiday. During this holiday, 16 year olds receive their GCSE results and 18 year olds receive their A level results.

The start and end dates vary a little around the UK but schools within each Education Authority area (County) are the same.

I hope you understood all that.

By the way, Helen just told me that she bought me a Pirate T-shirt pirate: a few days ago for the Pirate night.

David

That is really neat about Alex. And yes, I understood the school info. :) It sounds like the schedule some of the year round schools use here.

LOL! about the Pirate shirt. DH & 26ds did not seem that thrilled when I told them they were dressing like Pirates. :rolleyes1

Like some of you we shopped this weekend also. The boys needed summer clothes replaced. They already have their suits. I got some good deals at JC Penney. I even found some T-shirts at Gabriel Brothers. $2 apiece for Disney World T-shirts. We got approximately 20 pieces of clothing for $66. I was ecstatic. Now, I will have to go dress shopping for myself.

That's great! I love getting good deals!

Stephanie-Generally the lunch themed restaurants are Parrot Cay and Topsiders/Beach Blanket.
Triton's/Lumiere's acts like a sit down restaurant with a menu.

Carol

Thank you for the info, Carol! Hhhmmm..... :scratchin

I have been busy shopping, however I am a bit overwhelmed. I have been so looking forward to this cruise, busy reading up on the boards, looking for formal wear I didn't do any planning my girl's dance competition in nassau this week. I have never been to the bahamas other than CC. I went back and forth about going and finally decided to go two weeks ago, doesn't leave much time for planning. I wish my whole family was going, but it will just be my DD 11, my DD 8 and myself. I am overwelmed with the fact that there will only be 5 weeks left til the cruise when I return. If any of you have some tips on Nassau, I would love to hear them, want to do this trip as economically as possible, to be able to spend more on the cruise. We will spend our days at the competition, with our nights free to ourselves. Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

I bet you are feeling overwelmed!
Nassau..... the only thing I've done there is the Aquarium - both time I was there! LOL! So, I'm not much help at all!

Good luck to your dd's! Have fun! :)

OMGosh!!! You certainly do need a vacation! And why am I NOT surprised about the mom that sent her child to you when she knew the child was sick!
Last year when my mom was going through chemo (she had stage 3 breast cancer) she was still going into work for a couple of hours a day. People would actually try to come into her office (private area) when they were coughing and sneezing, etc... She had to hold a can a Lysol up and threaten to spray them!

Sandy - I worked in a daycare for 6 year and no quite well about Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease...luckily I never got it. Before you even said what it was I knew instantly. That stuff is unforgettable. Hope all the kiddos are better for you. It's amazing what parents will send their kinds in with.

Well I need some pixie dust as well. My mom went to her mail box this weekend to find a jury summons for me on August 21st in Federal Court. The summons states that it will be at least a 6 week trial. I am sending in all of my confirmation and cancellation information. I really hope they excuse me, because if they don't I may have to pay a $100 fine and stay in jail for up to 3 days so that I can go on this vacation that I have been planning for a year.

Crystal - I hope you got your power back.

Alex - thanks again for all your hard work.

Sorry, I know I missed a few posts but I am panicked regarding this jury summons.

Ok, everyone, the web site is now up and running. You can view it at

http://www.miramont.com/disneywonder/

I'm sure there is information that is missing or needs updating so please let me know. I will do my best to keep everything updated by reviewing our thread here, but if anyone has new ideas for a gathering or such, please send me a PM in case I miss it!

Come to think of it, I need to add info on the darn Fish Extenders! :rotfl:

I can imagine the panic feeling! {{}} :sad2:

Hey Guys!
I need all your good wishes and prayers. Tomorrow at 9 am I am having surgery to fix a vein in my leg.
Doctor says it will only take 45 min out patient and will only feel at worst like a bee sting.
As I remember, bee stings hurt!. :scared:
I'm not looking forward to it :sad2: but it will be good to have the problem fixed.
My DH is taking me and will be with me which is a relief.
:thanks:
TIA, Carol

Carol - Pixie Dust and prayers to you. I had an allergic reaction to a bee sting when I was stung. I don't recall how bad it hurts, but I am now terrified of bees and go running when they get near me. Hang in there, I am sure you will do great and come through with flying colors.
