I tell dh every once in a while that I may want a part time job at Office Depot -- who doesn't like office supplies?? -- it is the closeest store to my house. :teeth:

I could spend all day at Officae Depot! ;) I don't need all those things but just imagine.

Cheryl, Thanks for the Thanksgiving Pooh. Now if I could just figure out how to attach it to my signature. :confused3

Go to the PM that was sent to you. In it you will see a URL for the picture. Copy that and then go to the signature link and paste it there. It will show up at the bottom of your post.

Yeah!

I am not a particularly computer savvy person but thanks to Amy, I got the pic in my signature. :thumbsup2

Must go lay down now, brain overload. :rotfl2:

Ok I've got to vent!!

It seems that my grandmother was NEVER born! :rolleyes1 There is NO record of her ever being borned, ever being in a census. It seems she didn't exsist until her 1946 marriage. The state can't seem to find her birth certificate. What she has used all these years seems to just be where her parents registered with the census people. She has never been issued a real brith certificate. Now she is 77 years old and they want me to produce someone who was a witness to her birth?? :furious: Let me ask you, where am I suppose to pull them people out of??

Have you found anyone that witnessed her birth, yet? :rolleyes1

I can't even imagine how frustrating that must be!!!!!!!

Exactly! LOL! All of our girls like Office Depot, also. :)

Carol, Sorry it overloaded you! :rotfl2: But I'm glad you got it working.

i've got a couple of those pieces in the truck, if anyone wants them.

We don't have an Office Depot, but we do have an Office Max. I have one of thier discount cards, the more I spend the better the coupon they will send me.

LOL someone from the state department called today and wanted an address as to where they could talk to someone who witnessed her birth. I gave them the address to the family cemetery. :rotfl2: I know mean, but I'm fed up with this!! She didn't get her DL's until the 60s and she draws a government check, she pays taxes so how in the world can they say she doesn't exsist!? :furious: So after making a few phone calls and doing some tap dancing. They finally called me to say they had found her birth certificate, but her name wasn't on there. Uh, how do you know it's her, if her name isn't on there? So I took her up to the health department to show her DL's, Marriage License, and SS card to prove she is who she is. She had to sign some papers so the State Social Security Office can talk with the State Health Department. :crazy2: Anybody still following this? So they called this afternoon and say OH! I just wanted to let you know we have your grandmothers birth certificate. :woohoo:

What a frustrating thing to go through!!!!

Does anyone have any extras????

I KNOW I had at least one for everyday but, now I can't find a couple of them. :sad2: I am missing Sept 16 & 17th.

Thanks!

Amy,
I'm not sure I would have had the patience to slog through all that.

 Glad they were able to get her birth certificate.

Stephanie,
Your kids looked great at Halloween. I've been sort of lurking lately as my job keeps me busy at the end of month/begin of month.

Cheryl,
Your DGD is sooo cute! Happy Birthday, by the way! :bday:

Crystal,
Congrats on the new job. Don't work to hard.

Carol

Steph, let me look through my stuff and see what I have. I don't remember if I tossed the extra stuff I had, or put it away. I'll let you know something. LOL if I forget, remind me!

I can handle the red tape of stuff, that doesn't really bother me, but trying to get my grandmother to understand drove me nuts.

Hello to everyone! I'm a little behind in reading up, but believe me, I think of you folks and hope all is well.

Amy: Glad you are sorting out the Grandmother birth certificate. Wow, what a fun job that must have been.

David: That photo in London of the Bridge brings back many wonderful memories of visiting there. I want to come back to London and explore some more! Kids were cute too!

The state said that her year had never been scanned or processed. They said it would take time that they had 4000 birth certificates to look through in some basement. Lovely! Just LOVELY!

Ok vent over! for now

Well, Amy, this really causes me some consternation! We know that the government never makes a mistake, just ask George W. Bushwacked. I'm wondering if a trickledown theory might apply, if your grandma was never legally borne, than legally what is your status? One must consider other possibilities... maybe you are really an alien, and if that be the case I'm putting my money on the Planet UNDIES!!! :rotfl2:

:lmao:

I haven't been reading for a couple of days and now I'm catching up on the planet "undies" discussion:rotfl2: ! You guys are too much!

I like my new job, but it's suppose to be part-time...I'm working everyday this week, including Saturday. Not really what I bargained for! I'm hoping this well calm down after next Wednesday (Thanksgiving-eve). I'm selling some property, so I'll need to be off for closings, meetings, etc. I also have a couple of Xmas parties coming up for a few boards that I serve on. I hope I don't have to quit due to too many hours. My real estate agent asked me if I was interested in doing some property management for a few of her out of state investors. That's right up my alley, so I would like to do it--but I need my pt. time job to REALLY be pt. time to do both. Clayton works for UPS. He mentioned that they need pt. time driver's helpers to help with deliveries through the holidays. That sounds like fun, I might try to do that. It's so much fun to do things that sound interesting and not work 60-70 hours every week!

Celia, have fun at DL...think of us stuck in the Midwest;) . I can't wait to see photos with the Xmas decor up.

Amy, glad you got the birth certificate situation worked out. Now you can concentrate on having fun on your cruise!

Stephanie, I do have some dupes on the Navigators...I'll check the dates and PM you if I have what you're looking for.

As we have just finished putting up our Christmas trees etc, we were wondering how soon you will be putting up your decorations in the States - do you generally wait until after Thanksgiving?

By local standards we however, are VERY early!!

We have a busy few days ahead of us as Alex is singing in Norwich tomorrow evening (our nearest city - with a 900 year old Cathedral) as they are switching on their Christmas lights.

Then on Friday we are driving to Wales (six hours) to see Helen's family for a few hours, then due to loads of other commitments, we are driving back. As my family are all dead a 15 minute visit to the cemetery will be my visiting. :sad1:

Helen doesn't like motorway driving (actually I'm terrified of Helen's motorway driving ;) since she nearly killed us when driving around Manchester) so I'll end up doing the driving. It will be worth it as Helen's father is giving us a 32"" Television for Christmas (I know I sound ungrateful but we don't need one !!). On the return journey we also want to call into Ikea.

Steph - tell Sam to expect another card from Alex whilst we are in Wales !!

On the subject of Alex, he had an exam in school last week (he has sat it a year early) and we have just found out that he had an "A" :cool1:

He's also just been selected to play for a local rugby team (American football without the padding and the stopping) and played his first game last Sunday. I just do not know where he finds the time let alone the energy. Before we went on the last cruise he had a girlfriend who lived locally but he now insists that he only wants an American girlfriend so he has no apparent interest in local girls.

Bethan is just Bethan - I took her to her swimming lesson this evening and if she was quiet for two minutes she wouldn't swallow so much water.

Anyway, I'm a slave to time and it's just gone 10:00pm here so I'm off to bed soon.

Speak to you all soon

David

It sounds like you have a FULL plate! And many great opportunities! BTW -- driving delivery IS fun! 25yrs ago I drove delivery for a florist and I thought it was fun! :teeth:

Thank you! I still can't believe that I don't have those! UGH!!! That is SO unlike me! LOL! I am such a pack rat! Much to the dismay of Jon! :rotfl2:

Most people, around here, put theirs up the day after Thanksgiving. We put ours up around December 15th -- we celebrate through Epiphany so it stays up through January 6th. And most of the people I know around here take theirs down the day after Christmas.

How neat!!!!! Samantha is a little disapointed that she didn't audition for a Christmas play this year. It has been months since either her or Brian have auditioned for any plays -- they were in one this past Spring (A Wrinkle In Time).

Have a safe drive! I am sorry that none of your family is around -- I come from a large family (I'm one of 4, my dad is one of 9 & my mom is one of 6) so, there is always plenty of family -- that is NOT always a good thing. :rotfl: My moms family is not close but, my dads family is very close. I have traveled all over the US to just visit (and go to weddings & funerals) with Aunts, Uncles & cousins on my dads' side.

Congratulations on the A!!!!! And WOW, he is a very well rounded and busy young man! LOL!!!! Rugby scares me! LOL! I say that but, my oldest and my dh played Hockey for years.....

I have to :rotfl2: at *only an American girlfriend*. Too cute!

I laughed so loud that Michael (ds 26) asked me what I was reading. :teeth: Jon has told Claire this exact thing everytime he takes her swimming!

Have I emailed you the pics of Bethan that I took at their *talent show*? I think that was when you and Helen were on a Bridge tour or ??
