We arrived at MCO @ 11:40 a.m. and were checking in at our resort @1:15 p.m. so that is about 1 and 1/2 hrs. I would guess you should be at your resort around 11:00 a.m. The line for the DCL buses at the airport took about 20 or 25 min. and the length of your wait there will determine how long it will take. You are sorted out by resort and they load each bus by resort so you shouldn't have to stop at more than one or two other resorts. I am possitive that if you arrive that early in the day that your room will NOT be ready. That's no problem though because once you are checked in at the DCL cruise desk and the resort desk, they will hold your luggage and you are free to visit one of the parks. They will give you a phone number to call to see if your room is ready, and you can call from any of the park's guest services. Hope this helps!!
Yes you can check your carry on day bags also at the resort. Just take what ever you think you will need for your visit to the park.
You don't need to get your luggage at all. It will be delivered to your resort room by the bell services and they wil also bring your carry on to your room. Then on the day you are to go to the port, you pack your bags with everything you want transported to the ship and leave it inside your room. They will pick it up at 8:00 a.m. and you do not have to be in your room when they come to get the luggage. If you decide to go to the Animal Kingdom that morning, you can check your carry on bags at the park just before you enter the turnstiles and then pick them up there before you board the bus to go to the port.
If you are asking about picking up your luggage once you disembark the ship, you will be given luggage tags with a certain color. Once you get the clearance, you go to the luggage pick up and look for your color section. Then within that section the bags are placed in numerical order according to stateroom. You retrieve your bags (get the help of a porter if necessary, but remember to tip them!) and proceed through the customs lines.
Then you are escourted out to the bus lines for the trip back to the airport. Most airlines have a booth right at the port and you will recieve your boarding passes there and they will take your luggage to the airport. You won't touch your luggage again until you arrive at your home airport.
Does that help clear things up for you? I know how confusing it all can be!!
