9/4 Refund Received

Interesting question....is something wrong with the amount???

And no I wasn't on that cruise, but was on an abreviated one. I guess we're only allowed to comment on those. It seemed that previous angry posts would get mad at those of us who defended Disney because we didn't know what it was like to have our cruise interupted by a hurricane. I guess the parameters are more narrow now.

You can comment on any cruise you want but as the abbreviated cruises went on, things changed and were different. Your cruise WAS, believe it or not, different than the 9/4 cruise. At least they made an attempt at what has been reported as the "cattle call" at dock check-in. If I remember right, it wasn't that smooth for the 9/4 turned 9/7 cruisers - especially with respect to the buses getting them to Fort Lauderdale (and we did speak with someone at OKW that didn't appear to even be associated with the DIS and heard a bit of "upsetness" in their voices as she said it has been interesting and we didn't care to go into it and ask her anything because she did have her child with her and didn't feel that was appropriate at the time). For those of us that got to Orlando for that cruise and basically stranded because we couldn't head immediately home because of the path the storm was taking, once we cancelled we were on our own - we had no help from DCL or offer to help get us a room for one night because we couldn't get home. That did happen to others. So telling people to give it a rest is unreasonable.

I'm just so very glad you had a great cruise and glad you love the way things were handled. I wish I could say the same. And I don't give a care about what we got out of it, I care about the lack of notification that things had changed after we were told to try to make every effort to make the cruise.

well i had a credit on my credit card from disney. we got our refund about 2 weeks ago. we put half of our deposit on the card and the other half on our debit card. we are wondering where this came from. i am wondering if they refunded the REAS package since the scheduled spa/palos had to be refunded when we boarded the ship//i dont know

In the case of the 9/4 cruise, DCL dropped the ball. To some extent, I can excuse that--UNTIL I FIND OUT THAT BY 9/28 THEY WERE STILL DOING THE SAME THINGS!!!!

For what it's worth, I was on the 9/27 Magic, and DCL credited my Visa BEFORE the cruise was over. It was on a Disney Visa, so I'm not sure if that made a difference. So by 9/28, they were not "still doing the same things", atleast not as far as credits were concerned.

I was talking about communication with cruisers. That did not appear to change by 9/27 and that, IMHO, is totally unconscionable.

Just got a letter from DCL stating that they will not pay ANY expenses we incurred b/c we did not take their travel insurance but are including the 25% voucher.

I am tired of being mad and are hoping to book something by 12/31 ...the deadline to use the voucher.

My question to all is I can't believe how expensive the dates available are...we'd like to go between Jan-Mar b/c we are trying to have our 2nd child and don't want to go too far along. Anyone have a good TA or website????

Please help. My goal at this point is to get something equivalent to what we paid w/ the discount and I am not coming close at all. My TA is out of town until Monday.

Thanks everyone!!!!

This is a good website to view prices offered by All Seasons Travel, and the lower priced ones will be the lower priced for other TAs. It is a good place to start:

My friends used them this summer and were happy with their service. I have never used them, but it is nice to be able to view all of the prices for all of the cruises in a quick glance.

selvey Does anyone know the name and address of the President of DCL? Thanks

Mr. Karl L. Holz, President, Disney Cruise Line
P.O. BOX 10210
LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL 32830

I sent a letter certfied Septembe 20, and still have not heard from the man.

I rec'd my letter from the great one (being sarcastic) last Thursday. We were trying to recoup some money we spent driving down there instead of flying and couldn't make it in time after they switched to Port Everglades and we were told sorry but can't help anymore b/c we didn't purchase their trip insurance and they were being kind to give us our full refund plus the 25% voucher. When we first wrote the letter we were unaware of the voucher and didn't find out until I found this board. So we are putting this experience in the book of "interesting" vacations and will try to use the voucher!

I hope you can use the voucher mommyz. I have thought the same way to give it another shot.

DCL's reply to my letter was very, very cryptic to say the least. And, I was not asking for a reimbursement, making a complaint or anything of the kind. I just wanted an explanation of the voucher. I'm still puzzled.

I had put all my disappointment, frustrations, and problems with DCL away. Now, they leave me with another.

Ready to throw up my hands and surrender. LOL

I truly did like DCL. Really have tried to like them again. But, the good feeling is just slipping away the more I try with them.

I'm so very glad for those that can enjoy DCL.

Thanks for the address - I want to send him my vouchers -haha.

Update on my frustration....

Still haven't received my refund!!!! Travel Agent said it should be here this week.

I booked a 7 night cruise for March 19th (was going to cost $2000.00 more than the 9/4 cruise, but I sucked it up and went for it). Got word last week that the voucher was rejected because it is a holiday week. I cancelled the cruise! It would end up costing me $3000.00 more than the 9/4 cruise (it's not like I was upgrading, just trying to replace the lost cruise).

I have been patient, understanding, never raised my voice...and have tried to let the system work for me. However, every contact has felt like a slap in the face from the form letters I received to the rejection of the "promised 25% discount" that came with many strings attached! I have a friend who cruised on Carnival the week of 9/4 under the same circumstances and has been treated like royalty, she even got a 50% voucher off a future cruise with NO strings attached. I know that Disney doesn't NEED my money, but at this point, I've really had it. This has really left a sour taste in my mouth.

Exactly how DCL seems to feel too - that they don't need my money. Which is fine. As long as they don't beat around the bush like they are and just say so.

This is not related to requesting any refund or discount. But ... LOL ... I actually told a supervisor a letter telling me to "Go fish." Would be better than receiving these cryptic voicemail and faxes.

If I ask a question I do appreciate getting an answer to that question. Its amazing what getting an answer, good or bad, does for restoring my faith. I see not getting a direct answer to a direct question a sales tactic ..... automobile sales people do this all the time.

So sorry you are having all these problems. But, at this point, I can't say I'm surprised. I'm with paulmc80, they don't need my money and they will never ever get it again. It is so sad that DCL has let so many down instead of living up to their word.
Hope you can find a cruise soon.
Karen

DCL has issues internally.

I did not write a letter of complaint. I did not write a letter expressing any sentiments or feelings regarding them, their employees, or my recent cruise.

What I did write was thanking them for the generous offer of 25% off ans asked a couple of questions. I concluded with asking them to advise me if they would extend their 25% voucher to me for a cruise after 10/1/05 or allow me the onboard booking offer I could not get while onboard. That's all I asked. Really.

What I did get back was a letter saying they regret my "disappointment" three different times. I never expressed such a thing. I made an inquiry ... asked a question ... They went on to be very self complimentary about their company and service. They never answered my questions. I'm rather insulted to have my logical, unemotional letter containing no complaint or grumbling of any kind stereotyped as "disappointment." I was not disappointed in my letter, but am now with their failure to properly respond.

I'm trying not to be negative, but this sure sounds like double talk. Not answering the question so as not to admit error or responsibility. Otherwise, I'm not sure what that letter was all about.

I can understand your frustration!! I am pretty certain I received the same "standard" letter from DCL and believe me, my letter was not about disappointment. It was total disgust. I expect nothing from them as they have proven to me, they are not capable of more. Oh well. unfortunatly, I'm through, except for sending my vouchers back to the Pres.
Hope you have some luck,
Karen

I don't want anything from them either. Clearlly, they think any customer that writes them with question is a "disappointment." That is an awfully sad attitude.

Well, that self promoting letter of theirs did say my input was appreciated. I have about ten items of input regarding his letter and how it failed to pass a common customer service test. I just hope he can accept my input under the spirit by which it was solicited. My only desire by giving him my input is to make him better, and his company better at serving their customers so as to avoid creating disappoint where it never was before.

Yes ... you would think it was. Kinda like a fill-in the blanks letter. Which wouldn't be bad if it was the type that was for intial contact and advising they received my letter and would be contacting me later.

I take no issue with that. It sure does take time to reply to a letter and that is completely understandable.

You really have to see this letter to believe it ....expecially after seeing what I had written. And, what I wrote was not even close to what I'd term a complaint or disappointment.

Life is fun! :D
