9/4/01? Freudian Slip?

I looked at the transcript, and the president is quoted as saying "September the 11th" thirteen times in it. I doubt that anyone had trouble making sense out of what he was saying.

Really, I don't see this as so much different from all the threads started to pick at Kerry - how his "faith" isn't as strong as Bush, how he doesn't seem to love his wife as much, etc.

I agree that this could be a typo - but I'm appalled that an official press release could be released with such an error and that it is still not corrected. OK, it may be a very innocent error but it's not like it should be hard to realize that Bush could not have "stood in the ruins of the Twin Towers" on September 4th, 2001.

I have never been invovled in a political thread, so it can't be said I'm a supporter for either... But I just want to say how dismayed I am that supporters on both sides seem to have left civility in the past.

I listened to the speech live and I didn't hear anything irregular.

OP, you changed your header!! It's OK for you to retract an error, but you expect perfection from the President, another human being? If so, I am sure you will be greatly disappointed if Kerry becomes president, because he is only human after all, and I am sure he will make a mistake, too.

By the way, what's Freud got to do with this?

I thought it lent itself to the whole conspiracy theory (previous knowledge - all that) ;)

OK, I am done. When people start to call me names, or at least "hint" it, that is uncalled for, even in a political thread. I have not been vocal about where I stand for fear of flames for being undecided. I thought we were supposed to play nice and leave the name calling alone...guess I was wrong on that too!

Seriously, what date do you think he was referring to, then? Certainly not Sept 11th, he wasn't in NYC that day as we all know.

September 11, 2001 was a Tuesday. President Bush was not in NYC on Tuesday. He did, however, come here on Friday, which would be September 14tth. Therefore, he stood in the ruins of the towers on September 14th. Now someone typing that quickly could easily drop the one, making it September 4th.
Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to judge the president of our country, for this clearly was not his mistake.

I think it says something very telling about the hate-Bush crowd. They just cannot resist putting their illogical hatred on reveiw.

And then they are insulted when someone points out just how out-of-contact-with-reality they appear to be.

EVEN IF the president SAID September 4th - just what would that prove? Is it your contention that he is REALLY confused over the date?

Are you so hate-filled that you REALLY think that Cheney has to keep "prompting" him on the date? Is that what you REALLY think? I doubt it - I personally think that you use any excuse - regardless of how lame - to say something negative about Bush.

I think you get some sore of self-righteous glory of posting another zinger.

As I said - these types of posts say volumes about the poster.

They get all excited over something like THIS - and yet the EXCUSE the absolute LIE that Kerry kept telling about his "Christmas in Cambodia" story that he used for years as an enhancement of his political protest motivation.

The defend-Kerry crowd say = "well maybe he was there a few weeks later" - or - "maybe he thought he was really in Cambodia"
when the facts are that he actually CONCOCTED A LIE and told it over and over again - under oath - SEARED IN HIS MEMORY.

The hate-Bush crowd see nothing wrong - or even interesting in this sort of mendacity, but if it appears that Bush says one word incorrectly that he is a moror or a liar.

pathetic
