I haven't seen much info on it. I have seen posts on typical Halloween activities. If that holds true, there will be a family party ending up in the main atrium after dinner with costume judging. The adult costume judging follows in the atrium and then the adult party stuff moves to Wavebands.

What day/night is the big mystery I think.

I printed my packing list today. I am officially in "gathering mode". I have the bed in a spare bedroom as my staging station. I don't actually pack until the night before but it feels good to start pulling stuff together.

I watched the Wonder come through the Panama Canal yesterday just to add to the excitement of her getting closer.

I also have my guest bed loaded. I'm hoping to be done tomorrow!

I wish I can be excited about heading to Galveston. But having to live there for 9 years and working there.... Driving to that island Saturday morning is just gonna make me say "I can't wait to get out this island" lol

My excitement is seeing my son's face realize we're not going to the island to go to church but to aboard a beautiful ship!

Well, at least we won't have to be there long, 'cause Mickey is taking us AWAY!

Okay, I am just able to get into the Disney spirit the last couple weeks because of personal drama. So I feel totally out of the loop. This well be our first Disney cruise and I'm reading some conflicting info. First, the formal stuff. On Carnival lots of people didn't really dress up on formal night, or they did but not really formal. Others went all out. I have to dress up every day for work. On vacations I like to be comfortable and chill. Ironically it is DH who likes to dress up. I'm not saying I want to go into the dining room with cut offs and a tee shirt, but... I'm really feeling overwhelmed by all this. I've got pirate costumes, Halloween costume for DD and Halloween shirts for us, custom made shirts for the family for embarkation day.... Other than that I'd like to dress for dinner with a nice pair of jeans and actually putting on make up, another thing that is just a daily chore for me. Don't mean to sound like a bum, but this isn't what I had in mind for a Disney cruise. I was thinking swim suits and tee shirts most of the time. Does everyone really go all out with the formal wear like it seems here? For another vacation I might love it, but right now in my life I just want some R and E.g.

My next question is about luggage. I thought I read on the website that there of a limit per person, even to the extent of listing measurements got the carry on. But on here I'm reading people talk about tons of luggage. What is the limit, or is there one at all? And can I load one suitcase up with water and get away with it? Finally, do we need to bring beach towels? I've read some say no, that they are provided, and others say yes.

You are not really limited to luggage although they only send you enough luggage tags for 2 bags per person. (At least that's what they have always sent us but we don't have children). We have usually taken 2 checked pieces each, even if a couple of them are small. The real limitation is you have to store them in your cabin. We also take a rolling carry on each.

For clothing for formal night. You will read MANY opinions on the DISboards. This will be our 4th cruise on DCL out of Galveston and the crowd is more laid back I think. You will be fine with what you plan to wear. You will see an entire range that evening, from casual to tuxes and evening dresses. As long as YOU are happy don't give it second thought.



On a side note. Today is my last day at work!!!!! Whoohoo!!!

Forgot to answer these questions. Yes, you can bring bottled water. They ask that you carry on any bottles but I have seen cases of water with a luggage tag stuck on them. No, you don't need to bring beach towels. They will have towels available as you walk off the ship and then luggage carriers to throw them in as you get back on.

It's safe to say that there is always a chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the Bahamas. I just hope we don't get 5 inches of rain in 2 hours like we did in Key West in May!! LOL. Everything was flooded and we waded through 6 inches of water to get back to the town. We still had a blast!!

Oh wow!! You need the caffeine tonight and then the stiff drinks tomorrow ;-). Hope that everyone's journey is uneventful and relatively stress free.

We are packed and on our way. Hopefully the weather will be good for us tomorrow.
