9/27/14, Returning to the Southern Caribbean

Hi all, DH and I will be travelling with our two sons aged just 5 (turning 5 three weeks before the cruise) and 13 months. I'm starting to get nervous that I'm crazy dragging two young children to San Juan. Anyone else travelling with young ones? Are we crazy??? Oh and we will be staying at disney for 12 days prior to the cruise!
You're not crazy! We took my then 18 month son on a 7 day cruise to Alaska last year. It was his first time on a plane (cross country!) and first cruise. Luckily he slept through most of the flight and folks didn't even know there was a kid in the area. He will be going on this cruise with us as well.

My son turns 1 in 2 weeks. It will be fun. Are you interested in participating in fish extenders?

Thanks, just got a little bit of shock that we are actually doing this! I'm just excited now :)

We're going to pass on the fish extender this year, although it looks like lots of fun, I have no time to make anything (two birthday parties to plan and do before we go) and more importantly there will be NO room in my suitcase for anything extra :rotfl:

Does anyone know if we will get a character breakfast on our cruise?? I know they sometimes still do them on the Magic and Wonder but I read somewhere that you had to have two sea days which we don't. I'm really hoping we do, my boys would love it...fingers crossed!

I am finalizing the Fish Extender group. Please reply here or PM me to tell me if you want to be in both groups or not. I am splitting it, as it is 27 cabins now. The sooner I get replies, the sooner I can get a list to everyone. Thanks so much!

If I don't hear from you, I will put you in one group.

Hello,
I just got off and back in the USA from the Greek Isles Disney Magic Cruise. It was so fantastic, I booked this cruise while on board. It should be a great one! Puerto Rico is my where I am originally from, so I am very excited to go back.

I'm sure all these questions have already been asked and answered but I'll ask again anyway :)

1. IS anyone flying in the day of? We just booked our flight today and fly in the day of from Orlando. We always fly the day before but we just felt this would be easier with two small kids...any thoughts. We arrive at 12:50.

2. Is Disney offering transfers to the port and if so does anyone know how much they are charging?

Thanks :goodvibes

We are flying in the day of the cruise too. I think we arrive around that same time too. We have a direct flight on Southwest from MCO. The good thing about this cruise is that the all aboard time isn't until 9:30 at night so you definitely should be ok with getting to the cruise on time. We are getting the Disney transfer from the airport to the port and I think it was $20 each way. Hope this helps! :)

It's been my understanding that if you are sailing on the Magic or Wonder for 7 nights or longer, you get a character breakfast. But, I am not sure with this cruise because of only having one sea day and the rest of the days at port. So I am not too sure. :confused3

I saw this posted on the thread for the 9/20 cruise. Since many of us booked the Sheraton Old San Juan solely because of the fact that it's walking distance to the Old San Juan dock, I thought it might be a good idea for us to join in on this.

ATTENTION - Disney Magic Docking San Juan, Puerto Rico

After a few phone calls we now have more information.
DCL planned for our ship to be docked at the Pan American Pier all along but failed to alter any on line information or inform each individual as they booked.
It seems that the on line info in your reservation ie (Driving Directions plus Pre Cruise information) giving the docking as Pier 4 Old San Juan is for the Disney Fantasy NOT the Disney Magic.

We spoke to a DCL representative plus 2 supervisors who say they are not responsible for the online information and we were advised to email with our complaint to this address:

dcl.guest.communications@disneycruise.com

I would advise anybody that has booked non refundable hotels and excursions to contact them at this address and voice your concerns regarding transfers between Old San Juan and Pan American Pier.

We have been told by others on Facebook that taxi’s in Puerto Rico have a strong Union and frown on hotels having their own shuttle service so imagine the chaos on port arrival/departure days on a limited taxi service on the island. Also that the taxi firms go on strike very easily and a strike may be due soon!

We have requested that as it’s a Disney error they should either arrange shuttles to get us from one place to another or dock the ship in Old San Juan. I know some of you have Disney Transfers so this doesn’t impact on your arrangements but for the high percentage of others who booked arrangements on the information Disney provided this will add a little extra expense to the holiday but mainly it will add A LOT of aggravation as lots of people will be demanding taxi’s.
