9/27/14, Returning to the Southern Caribbean

FWIW, I received an e-mail with tidbits of information (and a few pics) of rooms at DVC's Villas at Grand Floridian. Nothing official yet, but sales are guesstimated as opening in early May, with first occupancy in the fall.

We have been watching them build the Villa's almost weekly. Looks like its going to really be great. Of course what else would you expect from Disney.:thumbsup2

Happy Monday morning everyone,

We went and saw Iron man 3 at an I-Max theater over the weekend. Our son got us discount tickets or I wouldn't have gone to an I-Max theater. Boy they are expensive!! But we did enjoy the show. We did a 10 a.m. matinee so there was only 30 of us in the theater which was great.

Then last evening we went to Epcot to watch one of their oldies concerts they always have with their Flower and Garden festival each year. Last night was Tommy Roe. If your 50+ you might remember him from the mid 60's. He put on a great show and at 71 he still has a good strong voice. I really enjoyed the concert.

Today is back to reality of house work and passing time until we cruise. When we go to Disney I always look at the summer clothes that look like you would stay cool in them and think if I should get something similar to wear on the islands to stay cooler.
I always wear denim jeans which are not cool in hot weather. So I am trying to find something cooler to wear.

I know that cotton is cooler, especially white but when I wear white it turns gray too fast LOL!! If there's a speck of dirt out there I seem to find it.:confused3

I was thinking maybe seer sucker, I think that's the name? Anybody here ever wear that? Years ago it was very popular but if I remember right it always wrinkled bad when washed and shrank a lot. I may be better now.

Any ideas for me? I would appreciate hearing any of them.

Kathy

We needed a cruise fix while waiting for this cruise so we decided to do a 4 day cruise on the Enchantment of the Seas on the 27th of this month.

Never been on a Royal Caribbean ship before?

Got such a smoking deal we just couldn't pass it up.

Have you ever tried Under Armour (or variations) as undergarments? I also wear shirts made from the same materials. When I go to the theme parks, I wear a LIME GREEN Under Armour shirt for two purposes ... 1) it keeps me cool ... 2) It's easier for the rest of my party to find me if I get lost!

DD19 is traveling to China this summer to take her nonwestern cultures class and needed something versatile that she could wear in warm and/or cool weather.

We found several very nice long sleeve and short sleeve Columbia tops at Academy Sporting Goods. Match them with an Under Armor tank or crew made of coolmax type material and you would be set.

Thanks Steven and Bill,
will check it out. Luckily I have time to look at stuff before the cruise. But just living in Florida in the summertime it would be great to have more comfortable clothes

Kathy

... it would be great to have more comfortable clothes

Let me know if you want me to ship you some long johns ... YOU KNOW ... for when it gets down into the 70's! :)

Interestingly enough, I have been wearing moisture wicking undies for a little while now. While they are more costly, I find I am MUCH more comfortable ... regardless of whether I am doing light errands or extensive work! Hey, is this officially TMI?
:scared:

Steven

LOL! Thanks for the offer, but I already have 2 sets of long johns with thermal tops.:lmao: I wore them a lot when we lived in Oregon. I bet mine are prettier than yours. I have pink and purple flowers on mine.:goodvibes

Well, now this is odd ... my undies have pink and purple flowers, too! :scared1:

Patrick and Caryn- We just booked the Southern while on the fantasy with our 5 children. We, however, will be doing this one by ourselves. Looking forward to it!

I'd love to join the fb page but don't see a link to make the request.

Have a great day!! I was at Epcot Friday night to watch Herman's Hermits, then yesterday we were at Animal Kingdom for half a day. Sometime today my son will be taking me to WDW to play mini golf for Mothers day.:cool1:

If I had known you were there I would of stopped by and said hello some where.
Let me know how the Wild African Trek is, we have wondered about it.
