9/27/09 Wonder 4 night Cruise

We're staying at the Sheraton Four Points Cocoa Beach the night before, so we plan to be at the port early as well. Breakfast at the hotel and shuttle as quickly as possible is what we hope will happen.

If you want to know what we look like, the 4 of us are pictured in my "Come Hell or High Water" trip report (still unfinished... oops...). The link is in my signature.

OMG.....I read your reports and I cried......I am soooo sorry for your loss. My family is also going through the begining stages with my grandmother and I try not to number our days. This was the same with the lose of my grandfather in 2000. Cancer is a undecribable way to lose a love one. I only pray her suffering was as minimal as possible.

On another note, your boys are so cute and hopefully we do get to meet. My oldest DS will be 8 at beginning of Sept, he is my Daniel and my other DS is 5, Adam. They will love to have other boys to play with. My family is blessed mostly with girls. Both my children have mild forms of ASD and one is extremely shy and the other overly loveable. But I would love them no other way. I will try to post a photo from our last cruise in '08. I will be looking for at the port !!! :thumbsup2

Happy planning :)

Booked last November but only discovered this forum today. I usually hang out at cruise critics and also check their roll calls. But the Disney cruises roll calls are pretty dead. There was quite a group of people for this cruise, but apparently some time last year there was a rumor that Disney Wonder would be in dry dock for this cruise, so everybody jumped ship. :-)

So it is nice to see that there are some other people on this cruise.

I'm a huge Disney fan, but this is my first Disney cruise. We do a 3 day pre-cruise at WDW, staying at the Beach Club Resort. First time stay at that hotel as well.

Greetings from Switzerland
Marc

I don't think there are very many people in the world that aren't touched by cancer somehow these days. I can honestly say that the last 18 months of Carol's life were not great because of chemo and surgeries, but they weren't horrible either. She went downhill really fast when her time came. It was only bad for about 3 weeks. Very bad for only the last 6 days.

Joshua will be *almost* 8 when we cruise. His birthday is in November. I'm glad my boys will be in the same group for this first cruise, but I bet they'll be ready to go solo if (when) we sail again. Joshua is very quiet and shy, but has good friends at school so I know he can come out of his shell with other kids. Daniel is quiet when you meet him, but he'll talk your ears off once he gets comfortable. He worships his big brother, but I'm hoping he'll interact with kids his own age too.

I had a moment a few weeks ago and got my hair cut. A lot. I'll have to post a pic so that you aren't looking for the woman with long hair.

This is our first cruise. Me(42) :tigger:, DH(44) :smickey:, DD(11) ::MinnieMo.

I am new to DIS Boards and cruising. What is or are FE's??:confused3

We cannot wait.:yay: What is a meet?

To Brandis... Am DVC member have stayed at Beach Club Villas before. I am staying there the day before the cruise. The pool is wonderful. The proximity to Epcot and the Boardwalk is a bonus.

Oooo... Ooooo... I know this one!

FE's are Fish Extenders. Next to the cabin door on the DCL ships is a metal fish mounted on the wall. That is where the cruise line delivers your "mail" (daily itenerary, etc.). Someone came up with the idea to hang a strip of material with pockets from the metal fish so that DIS people could leave each other little gifts or messages. It "extends the fish" so that you can exchange stuff with other DISers, thus the name Fish Extenders.

There are directions for how to make a Fish Extender in the alphbetical listing of FAQs (it is one of the stickies at the top this board). I just learned that I can cheat and order one off eBay. I still haven't decided if I want to pretend that I can make one, or just admit that I stink at craft projects and pay somebody else to do it. ;)

88 Days and COUNTING 'Til First Cruise :woohoo:

Things seem to be quiet on the 09/27 link. Is there anyone else going with tweens princess: ? I noticed several DISers with little boys pirate:>

Wondering how many girls will end up being in Oceaneer's tween group? :bitelip:

Has anyone gone on DCL for an Anniversary? Any surprises pixiedust:?

My boys will be 7 (almost 8) and 4 at the time we sail. Can't help with the tweens, sorry. ;)

This cruise is our 10th anniversary present to ourselves. Our TA made sure to note that on our booking. I have no idea if that means we'll get anything special or not. I'm just glad to be on the boat. Anything else is gravy at this point.

Has anyone decided if they are going to do FE's? Again, first timer. I don't know how the "pro's" go about it. I have been reading other DISers trip reports and checking out some very creative door decorations there is alot to love.:yay:

I have kind of gotten the gist of how the decorating goes and I finally have seen what an FE actually looks like. :worship: There are some great ideas out there.

They reminded me of something that when I was a kid you would write the days of the week on as an organizational tool.

Time is ticking on the ole trip counter :cool1: and if I am going to attempt to be a FE er :faint: and I want to start looking for things to do soon.

Wow, this board has definitely picked up! It's been a while since I've been back...

I've got most of the things I am using to decorate our door. I just need to print them all out and laminate them with some magnets. I am doing a Disney Villains theme - I'm super excited about it.

This will be our first DCL cruise as well. We have a DD who is 3, anyone else out there with a preschooler? We are def. up for a meet!

Jasmine,

DH and I are cruising with our DS, age 2. Are you planning on sending your DD to Flounder's Nursery? I've got hope that our little guy will go there, but he'll probably throw too much of a fit for me to leave him!

Jennifer

DD will probably go to the kid's club - I forget the name of it. She is too old for the Flounder's Nursery.

I'm doing a FE. I'm still trying to find stuff to decorate the door with. I haven't found all the artwork I want yet.

My youngest son is 4. I'm pretty sure he'll be doing the kids club along with his big brother (7), but if either one of them decides they don't want to that's okay. I won't force them. We're playing it by ear since this is our first time with the kids.

Count us in for the FE. As far as door decorations, I am planning on printing either Sorcerer ears or a Pirate Mickey for the door number/port hole. You can find the template on the boards.

Did everyone get their Palo and Excursion ressies made. I was able to get all the times I wanted last week. We plan on Palo dinner on Monday (Nassau sunset/sailaway), Palo brunch on Wednesday (day at sea) and we are being daredevils and are Parasailing at Castaway Cay. :thumbsup2

SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

Hi!

DD (8)

I'm glad there will be other kids their age to play with.
Will participate in FE if you have one

Chris

Is someone organizing FE's? First cruise. Don't know how you go about knowing how many FE's one would do. How you find everyone participating?

Nice to see more people logging into this link.:cheer2: :goodvibes

I think my DD :figment:(11) is the only tween so far from this link. :sad1:

DH :smickey: and I :eeyore: will be attempting to make Palo ressies at the 75 days out; it being out first cruise and are not Castaway members. We'll be celebrating 15 yr Anny :love2:.
