9/24/09 3 Day Wonder - Cruise Meets, and FEs, and Goombays oh my!

(ps: i apologise that i always seem to post twice, whenever i try and edit previos posts it always seems to take ages, its just quicker to add another post!!)

good point! i'm up to 448 now! I'm looking forward to all of our little meet ups, i'll probably be annoying people by taking too many photos! Plus i think the way i'm going at the moment, one of my suitcases is going to be stashed full of fe gifts and goodies!

Take all the pictures you want! I have to figure out what I'm putting my FE gifts in...I don't need two suitcases for myself on the boat.

thats actually the main reason why i decided to hire a car the day before the cruise, i didn't want to have to take 3 suitcases plus hand luggage onto the ship then have to try and find somewhere to store it all. We're going to leave most of the cases in the trunk of the rental car. Think there will have to be some creative packing that day, gotta try and fit 4 days worth of clothes plus all the fe goodies into one case!

I'm trying to figure out the packing situation too!! I have my FE gifts, I have to bring my computer (it's my work computer, because of the conference, and i'm terrified to leave it in the rental car in case something happens since it isn't really mine), and I have the snorkeling gear. I'm thinking of combining mine and Tim's stuff into one big bag the night before the cruise, then taking a smaller bag with the snorkeling gear and FE gifts, and then we can just keep one change of clothes and our swim stuff in the carryon. I'm getting a new laptop bag that is smaller for my birthday, and then we just have to bring the cooler. Too much stuff!!

Karen, what kind of camera did you get? That's exciting!! I tried out my Dicapac this weekend at the lake, it keeps out the water for sure, but there isn't much to take pictures of underwater there. I will have to try it out at the pool with my neice and nephew or something.

I think I'm just going to wear my bathing suit under my clothes the day we board the ship so I can throw everything else into my suitcase. I have a fairly large tote bag that I think I can fit all the goodie bags into and I can throw sunblock in there as well. I'll just have to keep an eye on it while we're hanging around the ship waiting for the cabins to open.

i have no choice but to take all the luggage i bring to the world with us on the cruise but i do think that i am going to put all of our cruise clothes into one suitcase and all of our dirty ones we wore at the world into the other the night before the cruise so i only have to dig clothes out of one bag and i think i am putting our "dressy clothes" (if you call hawaiian shirts and khakis dressy) into a smaller checked bag with the FE gifts i dont want to risk anything happening to the crafty gifts i made and this way i dont have to worry about buying too much stuff at the world or on the cruise.
I have no clue how many posts i have done on here but i do know that after jen i was one of the first ones to post so that makes me feel special (but then again my family has always said i am special )
Karen i hope you get your camera soon i am hoping that someone gets ours off our wedding registry it is 150 with tax, i tried not to pick out a very expensive one greg kept picking ones that were brightly colored he didnt care if the brand was good he just wanted a bright one i picked a colored one but it isnt that bright.

Online dining reservations are up!! They just opened today. I can't make any of mine yet, but you should add the places that you want to eat to your favorites to make it quicker to get the reservations!! How exciting!!

yeah i'd heard that the dining reservations were up but apparently they're very hit and miss at the mo, as with anything new on the disney website, it probably wont work properly for the first week or so!!
work is going kinda ok this week, after the week i had last week i'm really glad of that. if i was having another week like last week i think i'd be thinking of quitting right now! but luckily things are going well at the mo.

i got my camera!!!!
i took a photo out of one of the windows upstairs, with the zoom fully on i can read the licence plate of the van about 10 houses down and on the other side of the road!!! its really cool, heavier than my old camera but its a lot better. its a bit confusing though, theres a LOT of buttons and a lot of functions (that i'll probably never get round to using

i've just tried the online ADRs, it wont accept/recognise my phone number to retrieve my reservation, but when i try and retrieve my reservation normally (without trying to make ADRs) it works fine. i think there's definately some glitches in the system!!

I'm going to try to use the online ADR system via the travel agent website. It's been up for a little while now so I have the feeling that may work out better. The only two places I'm worried about are Ohana and Le Cellier. If Le Cellier needs to be moved to lunch, that's no problem, but I want to do dinner at Ohana's. We'll see what happens!

I saw that you got your new camera over on facebook. Zooming in on people's license plates? Stalker. Just kidding!

One bummer of the new online system is that it doesn't seem to pull DVC reservations. So you cannot use the 90+10 deal for those, at least until they fix it. I was playing around with it a little, it seems nice, I especially like that you can search for a range of days, which is nice for places that book quickly.

Karen, you could be a Private Investigator on the side!! Maybe you can even have your own TV show!! Karen Tan Pearson, P.I.!!

i've still got 4 ADRs to make, to be honest i think i'll just call up on monday and make them, it was quick and painless last time and there's less chance of the computer crashing half way through when you're talking to a person!! i got all my important ones anyway, so the rest dont matter as much.

jenny, as long as you call at 90 days i dont see there being a problem getting le cellier, especially if you call at 90 days out and le cellier is not on your first day. i made the reservations for CRT first, then chef mickeys, then le cellier and i got the times i wanted on the days i wanted. you should be fine

I want to do Le Cellier the night before the cruise. I've heard that it's very small so that's what makes it difficult to get. But we eat dinner at off times so I think we'll be ok. Ohana's is the one I'm more worried about because I want to eat there right before Wishes, on the second night of our stay. We'll see next Monday I guess! I'm messing around with the online ADR system and the week before we go (you can book up to the 14th right now) there is nothing available for Le Cellier for dinner!

give them a call at 7am on your 90 day mark. we got in no problem for 7.45pm.

if anyone needs any help i dont mind calling up too and trying to make a reservation for you. i did this for my friend when she was trying to get the grand one for her wedding day.
