9/24/09 3 Day Wonder - Cruise Meets, and FEs, and Goombays oh my!

im looking for the one night after the cruise, its a sunday night and we fly out on monday. the only person who's been able to help so far only has developer points so the only option is saratoga springs. thats still good, but i'd prefer to pay the bit extra and get boardwalk villas or bay lake tower. but no one else has got back to me yet. its annoying as i want to get it booked up, but its just not happening at the mo
hows everyone's monday been anyway? i'm back at work tomorrow it was inevitable though!! didnt get up til 10.30 this morning and even then we only woke up due to the neighbors mowing their lawn! we've been out shopping today, but didnt actually buy anything, gary traded a few of his xbox360 games in for a new one, so that'll keep him occupied for a while!

Mary - I hope you're able to stay warm (somehow) at the game!! I can't believe it's still so cold there. It hasn't really warmed up in Jersey much but it's in the 40s so it's getting there...I guess.

My Monday is the usual. At work, DIS-ing.

oh yeah i forgot its probably just the UK thats got today as a bank holiday. my head keeps thinking that its sunday today, think i'm going to be messed up at work when i remember its actually tuesday!

i've had a couple of people get back to me about the DVC thing, i'm hoping if someone can for sure tell me if theres availability at BLT or BWV, if there is i think i'll hold out until someone can rent me points, if there isnt i'll book saratoga. its just annoying me that i cant book it or check availability myself! dont they know that i'm an obsessive planner??

It'd be bothering me too! What is the price difference to book it directly without renting points?

if i can get boardwalk (now my first choice), standard view rack rate is $377
if i can rent points it'll be about $90

bay lake tower MK view rack rate is $495
renting points it would be about $170

i just want to get it booked before it sells out!

its like a bus, i spend ages waiting for someone to get back to me, then 2 people email me at the same time!!
after some investigation on the disboards it turns out that if rooms are available on disneyworld.com for cash rentals, it doesnt necessarily mean that there is DVC availability
both people who emailed me back said that there wasnt any availability for BLT, boardwalk, or beach club, so we've (or should that be i? gary doesnt really care where we stay) decided to rent the developer points for saratoga springs. (i decided against animal kingdom lodge, as we stayed club level last time and i'm worried that we'll be comparing it to our last stay). i've just emailed the guy back that PM'd me yesterday, hope the points are still there for me, i'm screwed and back to square one if they're not!
if this does work out ok, i'll be staying our last night in a studio room at saratoga springs resort for the princely sum of just $88!! can't really argue with that can i!?!?! (rack rate is $332 - bargain!)

keeping everything crossed at the mo that he comes back to me and that i can rent this out!!

That's a great deal for SSR! You can't really complain because you're getting a deluxe resort for a bargain either way. I hope it all works out for you.

i just wish i could afford to spend 2 weeks at a deluxe! i've been looking at the SSR photos and it looks so pretty!
SSR only works out to be about $14 more for the night than staying back at the all stars. plus it means we can walk to downtown disney!
we wanted to stay at boardwalk villas because we keep meaning to get round to going to jellyrolls, and never manage it, but it just means we'll have to make the point of going there before the cruise!

if anyone wants to meet up at jellyrolls before the cruise for some and some ...........

I've always wanted to go to Jellyrolls. That's the place with the deuling pianos right? They have a place like that in Universal and it's amazing. We're planning on walking around the boardwalk one night after Epcot so maybe we can meet up!

yeah its the duelling piano bar, from what i've heard it sounds like good fun, we keep meaning to go to the boardwalk in the evening, we meant to go to PI then it closed down, so that option's now out!!

meeting up sounds good, we're there from the 12th, so we can do it one of the nights before the cruise?

we walked round the boardwalk during the day last time, its nice but not much was open, i'd love to go during the evening and soak in all the atmosphere. think we'll probably do the same as you, spend the day in epcot then head out of international gateway and walk to the boardwalk.

I'm thinking maybe the night of the 21st (Monday) or the night before the cruise. I'm pretty sure we're going to be at Epcot the 21st and probably wandering over to the Boardwalk area that night. I've definitely been meaning to check the place out. Pat O'Briens in Universal is AWESOME; it's the same type of place and they try to play everyone's requests. We loved it! I'm hoping Jellyrolls is just as good.

I have to opt out. I think I'll either be pulling extra hours at work that week to make up for the days I have to take off and/or I'll be super stressed from having people in town plus getting last minute things done. Sorry, I'm just trying to be realistic, not anti-social!

I would like to do jellyrolls but i will have to see when it gets closer i will ask greg i know that the 21st we will be at AK and we should be out of there around 6:30(including dinner at rainforest cafe) I was thinking of going to see the electrical water parade that they have on seven seas lagoon but that isnt til 9 i think and we could prob. do that another night and it really isn't somthing that would kill me if i missed it. Yall know that if there is dancing at jellyrolls lainey will be by herself dancing b/c greg will not dance (he said that we will have to get alot of alcohol in him in order to get him to dance) I wonder if I am going to remember any of my Honeymoon or will it be a drunken haze Oh well atleast i wont be alone and i will have the camcorder with me i can smell the americas funniest home videos money now
i remember one of yall telling me how to search for the FE totes on ebay but i cant find it and with 53 pages of posts i sadly am too lazy to look back through all of them sorry HELP!!

Well, they had the game. And we won, yea!! It was freezing though, about 36 degrees but 31 with the wind chill. And raining, which didin't help. Closer to the end we moved over a section to where the seats were covered, so that was nice.

I will be up for Jellyrolls, my DSis will be coming along because she will be at my conference with me over at Universal. Just as long as I don't have some conference event to go to. At the one I was just at last month, the one exhibitor (who will also be at the conference in Sept) had a free Martini reception -- now THAT was nice!!

I got my FE situation figured out. I found somone on ebay that will make custom ones, so I sent her a message and she said she will make one for me, yea!! So now I just have to figure out what I want...hers are really cute though!! All of the ones that she has posted are 4 pockets, but she said she will make a 2 pocket one for me. I am excited now!! Well, gotta go to bed. 4:30 am comes very early...especially when I don't go to bed until 11:30...

I am still looking for the FE for us but the only ones i can find are 4 pockets and i would really like 2 pocket since there will only be 2 of us. I am also trying to figure out what to get yall as the gifts my mom has come up with some good ideas as usually it lookslike lainey will be doing some more crafting(i have no idea why i always do crafty things i guess to me they are fun)

crafty stuff sounds fun, i'm not the most arty of people so the ideas i've come up with dont need too much crafty talent!
lainey, if you check ebay.com and search for fish extender. there's quite a few on there, some 2 pocket ones too.

getting up at 7am after a 4 day weekend wasnt easy this morning, i think i'm still kinda half asleep!

and on the plus side, it looks like i've definately got the DVC points for saratoga!!! yay!

Lainey - You won't be dancing by yourself, you'll have us! If Jellyrolls is anything like Pat O'Brian's, there isn't much dancing; just a lot of loud sing a longs. Although when they played New York, New York I joined in as part of a chorus kick line.

On Ebay, look up the member bonnysews. I got my FE from her and it was a 2 pocket. If you can't find her on ebay, I'll give you her email.

Does the water parade run every night? We're planning on checking it out when we stay at WL.


Mary - Glad the cubs won! At least it's better than if you sat there all day in the freezing/pouring rain and they lost!! It was worth going then.

as far as i know the parade runs every night i will ask the people on my poly faq board and let you know for sure. I didn't know anything about the parade until i found pictures of it on this website. I have no problem doing a chorus line if they ask me to however i think i am too short to be considered a rockette or a normal chorus line girl but i will do my best.
