9/23/06 Let's go!!!! Who's with us???

Hi, Everyone,

Got a question. Who knows a good host site for uploading a 30 second video. I have a short video on my flashcard and I can't seem to email as an attachment. I'm thinking of either burning it on a dvd or uploading it to host site and sending the link to the person who wants the video. An advise?

What's on the agenda for you all this weekend? It's supposed to rain all weekend here. I'm going to a Scrabble meet near Philadelphia. It's social but I'm so nervous. As far as I know, I'm the only one going who doesn't participate in a Scrabble club. Playing face to face is different than playing people on line. It's been many years since I've played face to face except for my one friend who isn't that good yet.

We're down to 20 chickens now. A friend of my husband's had a neighbor who was looking to get some chickens, so she came by and relieved of us of 8 chicks. Warren is relieved. He was sure 28 was too many to start with. I don't really agree. I was at the livestock auction Tuesday to learn about selling chicks and eggs and there were chicks for sale. Since I'm a good wife, I didn't buy any. It was tempting though. Our chicks have gotten used to coop life now. When I go out at night to lock up the coop, they're all back inside sleeping. No more chasing them around the yard. :)

Becca – Happy birthday to your kids! I think I am also going to have Eva’s birthday at a bounce place: Pump it Up. She loves that place and it seems like the est option for a troop of three year olds!

Scott – Thanks for the information on the transfers and staying at the Hyatt. I am definitely looking into that option.

Monica – I haven’t used it but I think Photobucket may have a new video option. I use Photobucket for photo hosting and the video option is only a couple of weeks old I think. As for weekend plans, we have front row and center rink-side tickets to Disney on Ice tomorrow!!!! The show is The Incredibles Magic Kingdom Adventure. I am hoping Eva gets a little face time with the characters after the show since we have great seats!

Howdy everyone,
we just got back from from Universal studios( Don't tell Mickey) :ssst:
It was DH's company picnic. It was fun, but very hot :sunny:
I believe it hit 92 today.
My plans for this weekend is to help DH cut out disney character silouettes that he drew several months ago. Originally we were going to paint them on the inside of our wooden fence. We could of seen them from the pool, but we wound up moving, so we never got it done :confused3
But last week we decided to paint them on the pool deck. We have a large deck this time, so we got pool deck paint today. Now we have to cut out the silouettes, then lay out and paint. It may not get all done this weekend, but at least it's a start.
That is my plans for the weekend. Sunday we may zip :moped: over to WDW for a few hours, see how tired we are.

vpalmer, enjoy the show. I have wanted to see it, but things just never seem to work out for it. Let us know if it's as good as we have heard.

Have a great weekend everyone!!
Kathy

Hi all, I just posted a thread re: the Sept 23rd cruise, and then lo and behold found this one! Guess I shoulda checked more before starting a new one lol. We will be on this cruise as well! So excited!!!! It will be our first one. Myself(33) DH(34) DD(turns 12 this May) DS(10) and DS(5) and hopefully Grandma as well. I was so happy to read here that there will be another 12 y/o girl going, as my DD was worried she'd be the oldest girl in her club group as well.

Any special ideas or trip tips would be much appreciated! I'll be going thru all the threads too. Will there be any special events going on this trip that the kids would want costumes for??

Thanks! Looking forward to meeting all of you!!
Jennifer
PS!! Anyone from the cruise interested in receiving a postcard from us while we are in WDW this May?? PM me if you are! I can send one to your kids from Mickey saying "Can't wait to see you on my cruise in September!" or something like that. I'm already doing a bunch for ppl, so I'll have to limit it to the first say 6 ppl that PM me. Sorry!

Welcome Jennifer and family
We are happy to have you with us.
You asked about costumes for special events on board. There is a pirate party for everyone. Aduts and kids dress like pirates . You go to dinner dressed that way and stay that way until after the pirated deck party that evening. It is really alot of fun, the highlights is fireworks shot off the ship and playing of Pirates of the Caribbean movie on the Dumbotron movie screen and a buffet out on deck too. So think pirate for everyone!!! You will be given a pirate bandana at dinner as a souvenir to wear too. If you feel that you dont want to dress as a pirate, then they suggest tropical attire.
Is this your first disney cruise?
Looking forward to getting to know you the next few months.
Kathy

:welcome: Jennifer! We are bringing a Grandma along too :teeth: .

Thanks for your offer to send postcards. I sent you a PM.

We went to the beach today. Our beach is now clear of contamination. It is all pretty again. We haven't been in awhile. We didn't get in the water though as there was a chilly breeze. We just played in the sand and enjoyed the dogs. We like saying "hi" to other folks dogs. We really want one of our own.

Kathy - Disney painting sounds so clever. I want pics when you finish!

Monica - it is fun to hear updates on your chickens. I giggled about them becomming coop trained.

Take care all :wave2:

Hi Heidi,
Glad to hear the beaches are clean again. Your beach problems actually made our news one night last week.
I got the paint ok for the patio, however we decided to paint the foyer and hallway first. So it will be a little while longer, but when we get the characters done, I will post a picture for you to see.

we spent the day yesterday at Epcot enjoying the garden and flower festival. It was fun, but it was so hot!
Not much else happening around here for now, hope everyone has a great week!

Kathy

 :welcome:  Jennifer.... Its cool to have others join our ever growing group. Glad you found us... We orginally were going to go with grandma, but she past away a few months ago, but she insisted that we all still go. She LOVED cruising... We [dh and I] took her on her very frist cruise 6 years ago, we took her on several others, she ALWAYS felt/looked like a queen. :lovestruc BUT even though she will only be watching us from above, we will be going with several other family members... it will be DH 40, Me 41, DD 10, DD 7, Sister in law 46 Her hubby 65, Their two daughters 13 and 5, Dh's other sister who is 48, and Dhs friend/co-worker and his wife and their three kids... ds 17 dd 13? and dd 6?

Dh and I have been on 5 other cruises, but this will be our first Disney cruise. Our girls have been on one other cruise..that they HATED so hopefully we will have better luck this time around. Dh sister and her hubby have been on one three day cruise a few months ago, and EVERYONE else it will be their very first cruise EVER...so we are SOOOO excited for them. :cheer2: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: Its always fun to cruise with people who have never been on a big ship before. :)

I hope you will enjoy our group and I can't wait to get to know you better. Have a great Monday.

Kathy - I'm looking forward to when you are done painting, I'm glad you will post pics. The flower festival sounds fun. We went for one day in May '04 and really liked it.

Becca - The boys' party sounds like a success! Have you had your asparagus festival yet? I've only been to it once (1993, when DH and I were not yet married) and I loved the asparaberry shortcake they had on sale :thumbsup2 . I still have my wine glass and my DH's tin beer mug on display in my kitchen. His mug is starting to rust on the bottom though.

Jennifer - got your PM! Thanks :sunny:

Hi, Everyone,

Not much is new here. Welcome Dopeysgirl. Heidi's what the story with the beach? I missed that one. Cathy, you can come paint my house. I'll even pay you. I hate the color of our bathrooms and I had promised Leah I'd paint her room pink like she wanted once she started sleeping in there without coming into our room during the night and setting up camp on the floor. I should have made good on that a year ago. Oldest ds, William, and I went to a Scrabble meet over the weekend. We had a great time. It wasn't a tournament so the games were for fun and small prizes and bragging rights. I, unfortunately, have nothing to brag about. William won a cherry pie.

I'm going to go play some scrabble and then go to bed early. We had some major thunder storms last night that kept waking me up. I'm so tired today.

Dopeysgirl, if you'd like to join our yahoo group, please send me your email address and I'll send you an invite. If anyone wants to check or change the cheat sheet, go ahead. In fact, I'd like some feedback as to whether you can actually changed the records. Please go into the database of our group's site and see if it's possible for a member to edit the records.

Good night, all.

Monica - I was able to change and add to mine :thumbsup2 . You have really done a great job getting that all set up. Once we get our camera situation taken care of, I need to work on getting some photos posted. How fun that your son won a pie!

Becca - I didn't remember it being super expensive. I wonder if they have raised the prices over the years? Sounds as though it has become more popular as well. It was crowded but doable when we went. My cousin lived in Stockton for years before moving into the mountains (South Lake Tahoe).

Take care all.

:wave2: Oh gosh yes....Frist it is $10 to park, then it is $10 per person [any one over the age of 7] just to get in.... Then the asparagus its self is $7.00 for which ever one you want..the fried, pasta salad, ice cream, etc...but the stake and asparagus sandwich is $10 each.... And of course everything else there is not free :rotfl2: And for a single person or maybe even a couple its a nice outing..but for a family of 6 we would spend a few hundred dollars for one afternoon...and that is just to pricey for this diehard bargin hunter :)

As for the popularity... last year for the three days they had over 100,000 visitors... insane if you ask me ;)

I envy your cousin... I LOVE lake tahoe... it is STUNNING...

Have a super Tuesday everyone.

Didn't anyone notice that Sunday was exactly 5 months from "The Big Day"?

Thanks for the feedback on the cheat sheet.

Off topic but does anyone have an opinion on the Oorick, Dyson, or Simplicity vacuum cleaners. I've burned out my last cheapo vacuum cleaner and am thinking of using a little tax return money to buy a good machine. Something in the 300-400 range.

We cannot compare vaccuums, but we can give the Dyson a thumbs up. I'd hated to pay that kind of money for years, but wish we had long before. It sucks (and that is a good thing!) and works very well. No clogs (just like they claim!) and it's really very easy to clean and work. We've had ours for two years now. Normally that would have been about the time frame for 2 or 3 inferior (but more affordable) products for us.

5 months it is - somehow that sounds better than roughly 150 days.

Thanks, Scott. How did you initially decide to go ahead and purchase the Dyson? Do you have noncarpeted areas that you use it on as well as carpet? If so, how do you adjust the vacuum setting from one to the other. I've heard that in some vac's the mechanism that raises the beaters will become a maintenance item. Most reviews I've read by people who have an opinion will praise their vacuum on picking up pet hair. We don't have indoor pets. Do you? I'm going to the vacuum store tomorrow morning to hear the salesman's pitch. I wonder what he's going to say when I tell him we don't have pets or allergies. That seems to be the big selling point these days.

Hello! I decided to hop on over here and introduce myself. I've been on the board since January, but have stuck with the main cruise forum and Disneyland forum. However, I have felt compelled to come over here and "meet" you all. :) You see, I'm the Original poster of the "My heart is breaking" thread about Dave and his family. There has been such an amazing response to that thread, that it made me realize there's some wonderful DISers I need to meet who I'll be cruising with. So, here I am! :thumbsup2
I haven't had a chance to read through this thread yet, but I plan on doing so over the next couple of days (especially since my hubby is leaving for a business trip to London). My name is Lisa, and my husband is Dave. We live in Campbell, California, which is just on the border of San Jose in the Bay Area. We have two children, DD age 8 and DS age 6. Dave and I will be taking our first Disney cruise on 9/23 WITHOUT THE KIDS! We are going to be so busted, but we figure the kids will eventually forgive us. We're telling them we're "going to check it out" before booking a December '08 trip for all of us.
I teach Spanish part-time at the private school my kids attend, and really enjoy travel and scrapbooking (they go together nicely!). Dave works in manufacturing at a high-tech company. I'm a Disney fiend...I grew up 1 1/2 hours from Disneyland, so I tell Dave that trips to Disneyland aren't vacation....they're just a part of my family culture. Thankfully, he buys it! :rotfl: Now, we live 5 hours from Disneyland, but it's still close enough to go once or twice a year. So, to "vacation" with Disney, we go to WDW (we've been twice), or on a cruise (yippee!).
I can't wait to read more about you when I have a few (Or many) minutes...and to meet y'all in September.
 Lisa

:welcome:
Lisa and Dave,
Happy to have you guys with us. :goodvibes

We are going as a couple too! :thumbsup2

Of course our kids are grown, but they do come with us often and the grandkids too.

I am looking forward to getting to know you guys over the next few months.
We have some great people :grouphug: on this thread, you'll feel right at home here. If you have any questions :confused3 please ask. I'm sure one of us will be able to help you. :woohoo:

Kathy

We do have mostly wood floors in our house with a few area rugs. We also have two heavy shedding dogs, so we can attest to how well it works on those issues. We don't have any trouble moving the beaters. It is a small lever that does not seem to be much of a problem at all.

We went with the Dyson because everywhere we turned the reviews were raving. At the time, it was a rather novel concept and seemed like a good choice (I am a techno-geek sometimes and like to try new stuff if it appears to be the real deal). Now, almost everyone is using a simliar technology, so I have to imagine with all the mimicking, the vacuum community buys in.

Good luck!
