Hey everybody -

Do we have a firm date, time and location for our "Meet and Greet"? I can't remember if we settled on an option.

I was just going to post this, and see who is planning on meeting?

I have started on my door sign (YIKES)........Didn't know about it until I found this forum

HELP !!!!!!!! Does anyone have the ears? I dowloaded the "Disney Font" but I wanted to put the ears in the middle of the sign

Kim

Here is the poll we have going. We are planning on meeting at 3:00 at the promenade Lounge only because that has the most votes. If anyone else wants to vote, just let me know and I will add it to the poll.

According to my records here are the final results of the poll:

Day 1 4:20 Deck 10 for Sail Away Party

Day 1 3:00 Promenade Lounge 4 votes
Yazee1
vpalmer
Euphscott
APB513

Day 1 Post Sail Away Party - location TBA

Day 3 (Monday) Location and Time TBA 2 votes
Randall's Mom
sftnslky

Day 2 Brunch - Location and specific time TBA 2 votes
Chalex
Memickee

Other - please explain

If you still would like to place a vote, add it below. If everyone is finished voting it looks like day 1 at 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge is the winner.

(Note: I never saw a final vote for Chalex so I went with the time and day you metioned first.)

Angie,

I knew those two were conspiring together!!! They are always on the phone!
My DD actually took the time to write me as essay on why it's a good idea for her to stay home. :teacher: I wrote a note to the school asking for her homework on Wednesday - If they allow her to bring it home, then she stays home on Thursday to get it all done - I don't want her to do it on the cruise. If they say no, then she is off to school.

Hey Michelle -

Your DD told my DS that she's not going to school on Thursday. He told me thinking I would say he could stay home too. I told him no way. I need some time at home to my self to decompress before this trip (I didn't tell him that part :rotfl: )

Man, I needed this break desparately. It feels so good to not have to think about work for two weeks and to be able to get back to planning this trip.

.

Weather watchers, what's the latest???

It's quiet here today. Everyone's busy packing? :confused3

Michelle -

That was a good idea. I wish I had thought of that. In the past when I have taken the boys out of school for a trip (yes, I have done this several times before), I ask the teachers to send home any work they will miss but they never have. The only thing I asked for this time was study material for the standardized tests the kids are scheduled to take the week after they return. I probably won't get it.

I live on Ocala FLorida about 2 1/2 hours from the Port.....Today is cloudy and rainy but it will still be in the high 80's.....The weather for our trip should be in the mid 80's and very nice.....Saturday is offically the 1st day of fall which for Floridian's doesn't really mean much :)

3 days to go...............I am already having problems sleeping thinking about the trip (and making sure I don't forget anything)

We are leaving at 8:30 am SHARP so that we can get down to the Port EARLY......told my husband that is 5 hours of buffet before the ship even leaves port :)

Have a Magical Day !!!!!!!!!!!!

I called this morning to find out which movies would be shown during our cruise.

This is what's showing: popcorn::

The Guardian - with Kevin Costner & Ashton Kusher

Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Treasure - with Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley

Cars

Chicken Little

Eight Below - With Paul Walker

The Chronicles of Narnia

The Shaggy Dog - with Tim Allen

The Wild

Stick it - with Jeff Bridges (Gymnastics movie)

Invincible with Mark Wahlberg

I also asked if there would be any celebrities on board and was told that no one is scheduled.

LOL. I think I'd go insane down there. My mother has lived in Spring Hill for 21 years and I have never learned to like the climate. Thanks for the weather info. I know I could look it up but it seems more reliable coming from
from a resident.

I thought I would be a wreck this week. No problems sleeping here, Thursday night on the train and Friday night at the hotel is another story. :sad2:

I agree too, great idea getting the homework done before the vacation.

I hope you get te study material for the tests, APB513.

My daughter will end up missing about 6 weeks of school by the time we actually get her enrolled this year. We have been doing workbooks and things all summer though... and she has been reading up a storm, so hopefully she wont be behind. Good news is looks like we will have a house come the end of October. So once back from the cruise we know right where to enroll her. :cheer2:

Good luck on your door sign Kim! I am taking the same one we used last year. It is one I painted myself, with pooh bear, some bees and our last name. We didn't see any other door signs last year so I am glad to know there will be some others this time!!

I am sooo excited!! :goodvibes Can't wait til Saturday!!! :Pinkbounc LOL
I hope everyone is having fun getting ready.

Thanks for the update. We didn't make it to the movies last time, but dh and I really want to see POC2 and we all want to see Cars again. I heard the theatre is chilly. That's the only reason I packed anything long sleeved although I did read in a thread that people have brought their blankets from their rooms. LOL. That sounds downright comfy!

That's great news about the house. Sounds like you have been doing a little homeschooling during the transition time your family has gone through with moving from state to state.

Kim,

My grandparents live in Ocala and will be coming to Kissimmee to spend the day with us on Friday.

Weather for the bigger picture looks good. A tropical wave is forming south of the Cape Verde islands. It has some potential, but it's far enough out that it should give us any trouble. If it did, it woudl be the very end of our cruise, but we'd have plenty of time to be out of the way and safe. Otherwise, the waters look quiet and safe for tropical storms. It looks like we'll have smooth seas!

Monica, we homeschool too. :)

We checked a 14 day forecast for Grand Cayman yesterday, and it said upper 80 and nice for the week.

Lori,

Did you find out about your dinner seating time yet?

I'm guessing there will be quite a few homeschooling families on board given the time of year we've going.

I'm really getting off the computer now. Time to finish packing and cleaning.

At this point I figure we can just be surprised and deal with whatever it is. Part of me would prefer early, but part thinks late might be better, so we will just go with whatever we are assigned. :rotfl:

Scott:

I graduated from Lewisville High School...Home of the Fighting Farmers :) I went my first year at UT Arlington before moving to Florida. Lived in Orlando from 86 to 99 (Graduated from UCF) and now I live in SLOWCALA and love it....

I cruised in 2004 when Florida got hit REALLY bad by 3 back to back hurricanes...they don't typically cancel the cruise just change the route....We sailed 2 hours early (Some people got left on the dock...wavign good bye to their ship)......then we hauled booty out to sea and missed it all....the following week my parents went on a week long one and they got a 10 day cruise out of a 7 day cruise because of they weather :)

I worked at Disney when I was in college and also was born in California so I am a Disneyland veteran too.................

My kids aren't home schooled but they go to private school..I just asked for there work for the week.......

We are in room 6618 and have the late seeting

Kim

We're all packed. We're going barebones on what we're bringing. Check this out.

Five people = 3 large suitcases and 3 carry-on bags. One rolling cooler.

I can't wait to meet our tablemates! I hope they're not really freaky!! ;)

Lori,

You can go to the disney cruise webpage to check your reservation. All you will need to do is have our reservation number and enter the birthday of the person who made the reservation. You can view your reservaiton details - seating times are included in those.

Hmmm - When I go there, it just says main dinner seating - which one IS that?

FYI - Just posted picts at the yahoo site!

Now, I must continue to conquer mount laundry, and continue on any pre-packing I can get done.

WHOOO HOOO!!!
