Hey there. We're going on the 18th. You will love the MNSSHP. We went last year and when I saw that it was only a few nights before our cruise in September, I changed our plans to come in early so we can make the party. The Boo to You Parade and Hallowishes is not to be missed.

Not sure about dressing up yet. Only DS and my sister dressed up last year. This year, we have costumes for DS but probably will decide last minute for us. We went in early October last year and it was really, really hot, so whatever costume you decide, you may want to pick something that will keep you cool.

Well...my sister and family had to back out of this trip. So as of this present moment it will just be me, my husband and son (who will be 7 at time of vacation). Boo hoo for my family.:sad2:

I would like to be included for the FE, please!

Since it is just my little family now.
Terry (44)
Kevin (51) his birthday is a week before the cruise
Jack (7) his birthday is a week before the cruise too

I think we can still celebrate their birthdays and our anniversary. (16 years :scared1:)

Let me know how it is going.

We also want to go to the MNSSHP on the 18th. (we arrive on the 16th for the Land/Sea vacation) but haven't gotten our tickets yet.

Terrypoohbear,

I'm sorry to hear that your sister and family won't be on the cruise. But am glad you will still be joining us. I'll add you to the FE list. Congratulations on 16 year wedding anniversary! That is wonderful. And it will be fun for them to do a belated birthday celebration on the cruise.

I hope you make it to the MNSSHP on the 18th. I'm really looking forward to it.

I am so looking forward to MNSSHP! (Thats why I booked it twice!) I know we will love it.

I think we may just wear hats or something small as it will probably be very hot.

I am looking forward to doing the FE's! I've been thinking about what to get but not decided yet.

Hey there. Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I will be going to my high school reunion tomorrow. Wow! How did the time go by so fast? I'm really am getting old. Its one thing to think to yourself that you are old but really another when you are going to your high school reunion and behind reminded of how old you are.:rotfl:

Well, it will be interesting to see if people has changed much after all these years. Good news is my best friend from high school is going for sure...so I'm in good company. We're going to meet for drinks before the reunion to get caught up since we haven't had a chance to do that in 6 months.

That sounds fun. How long has it been since you left school? I was working it out the other day & it's 18 years for me. :scared1: :faint:

That makes me feel really old. :sad2:

Its the dreaded 20 years for me  We have a cocktail hour tonight and then a family BBQ tomorrow. Depending on how tonight goes, we'll decide if we want to go to the BBQ. We just found out that my brother in law and family are coming tonight and staying through Sunday at my MILs to celebrate his belated birthday and Father's Day. So I feel a little guilty about not being around tomorrow to hang out. I'll let you know how it goes.

Have a great Friday.

How did your reunion go? Hope you had a great time.

Happy Fathers Day to all you disney dads. :thumbsup2

It went well. We had a really good time. I was surprised at how easy we all connected again. That's why a small graduating class is so nice. There were a couple of people that just never changed. :sad2: And some that we were so proud off because they turned out to be really nice, nice people after being total brats in school :rotfl2: But seeing everyone, catching up and spending time with their spouses and children was lovely. I was really fortunate to have a really good crew of classmates. Of course, none of us could figure out how many we graduated with...was it 31, 32, 35 or 36? Isn't that so wrong? :rotfl:

2 nights of reunion fun, birthday party for DS's friend, entertaining family and Father's Day celebration - I am content and worn out.

I just got my MNSSHP tickets in the mail! :cool1:

Hello, everyone. I posted way back on page 1 (post #4). I don't think I've posted since. I don't really post much on the DIS anymore.

Last month, we had a real tragedy in our family. My dad, who was joining us on this cruise, passed away suddenly the day after Mother's Day.

We've had this cruise planned for two years. We were taking my parents on their first Disney cruise to thank them for everything they've done for us (too much to list here). So, I faxed a request to get the Walt Suite before the 2009 dates even came out. (Normally, I'm way too...um...frugal to book such an expensive trip, but--as I said--we really wanted to treat my parents.) When I found out we got the suite, I decided to surprise them once we boarded the ship. Yeah, that lasted about two days. I was just too excited to keep it to myself. My mom and dad were ecstatic, telling everyone who would stay still long enough all about the suite.

Anyway, fast forward to last month. My dad had prostate cancer surgery and was given a clean bill of health. Cancer free. A couple days after being released from the hospital, he started having trouble breathing. Turns out he had multiple blood clots in his lungs. We lost my dad about an hour later. It all happened so fast.

At first we decided not to go, but we know that my dad wouldn't have wanted us to cancel. So, we're still sailing, and we've added another passenger. We've invited my older cousin to join us. She has really been there for my mom since my dad died, and she's always wanted to go on a Disney cruise, so it was an easy decision.

To those of you who've stuck with this way-too-long post, thanks for "listening."

Here is our group:

Me
DH
My mom
My cousin
DS, 9
DD, 7

This is DH's and my 4th Disney cruise (1st was our honeymoon), DS & DD's 3rd. I'm looking forward to meeting some DISers. :wave2:

Hello. I'm so very sorry to hear about your father. I hope Father's Day wasn't too difficult for you and your family. And I'm very glad that you, your family, mom and cousin are still coming on the cruise. I hope you don't mind me saying this, but your dad will probably be on the cruise with you guys nevertheless and having a great time watching all of you enjoying yourselves after such a difficult time.

Looking forward to seeing you on the cruise.

Thank you. Father's Day was rough at times. We focused on my DH and shared our good memories. Lots of laughter, lots of tears.

My dad watched DS and DD while I worked, took them to school, etc., so it's been tough on them. Now that school's out, the kids really miss him being here with them during the day.

I think the cruise will be a nice escape from the sadness. And I really do feel, like you said, that my dad will be with us.
