9/19/09 Western Magic

ursala - thanks for the pics....super nice! enjoy! hope the weather improves.

so ready to leave....need to clean house tomorrow.....but had to report all of our bags (except one carry on) are downstairs and ready to roll...need to add my bathing suit and tank top (in the wash now).:cool1:
well back to folding laundry!:laundy:

look forward to meeting everyone!:yay:

:ssst::ssst: Do not tell MY DH! His suit is packed and he is not so happy but doing it to please me only. I really want to have my family dressed up for one night and while I admit I was changing my mine as I tried to fit it all in, the deed is done! Hope we can at least get a nice picture out of it!
Sally, Dave and I are having the same discussion - about a suit. Both DHs know that they'll be comfortable without wearing a suit as they've been on the Magic before.

Safe travels. See you soon.

You are my inspiration girl! I will move at least two of the kids suitcases down tonight!

I am a little behind as I need to load up the van tomorrow and still need to zip up all these suitcases somehow!:scared1:

Everyone is done putting in except for me, I gotta go sort and choose now.

Did get the van through car wash tonight.
Did pack up my jewelry (costume stuff to add color to my black pallet) You all will soon find out I do black. And my idea of being racey? Is to add khaki or white to it. So yeah, black. I'd do well in NYC!
Did get lawn cut (okay okay got the DS17 to do it)
Did stop by my sisters and drop off keys.
Did get the DS17 to decide who would house sit for his turtle (don't even ask, oh the drama!)
Did have not one, but two mini meltdowns again today, one with each teen. NOT GOOD, Did apoligize for being crazy lady.
Did feed my family 3 meals today.

I did do something today yes? So why does it feel like I've accomplished next to nothing:confused3

Will go to bed before 3am tonight, Dang! 12:05 am! Missed my self imposed deadline! Kinda tells ya something about me huh?

Night Night Only ONE MORE SLEEP and we are on the road again. . . :dance3::dance3:

Oh and pray for me girls!
Still have not told the DH that the car top carrier is going on, he is going to flip. BUT I have a master plan! It will all be loaded and ready to go before he ever gets home from work and since I have to take teens up to church for youth group before he gets home from work, it will be dark by time my van arrives back home. . .devious I know. BUT he will be so thrilled to have the work all done, I mean really, how long can he stay upset with me?

it is 11 pm and I am lying on my bed with the laptop, totally angry at a client and overwhelmed....all FE stuff is organized (kinda). My suitcases got moved upstairs, Tabi is still upstairs packing, Noah is at his dad's, the washer is going on my laundry, and I have to file a paper electronically with the bankruptcy court (can file electronically 24/7) but I have to see a client signature before filing, clients moved to Nevada after filing, swore they were faxing it around 3:30 p.m., and it flashed on me at 10:55, that I didn't remember seeing it ....logged on to my office, found out that the IT guy has not installed the Advantage database (don't ask, I don't know why I need it, other than to make the bky program work right when I log in remotely -- after an upgrade, all of a sudden, I need this new program),....anyway, no fax, can't see my document records (because of the no-Advantage thingie) and I AM LEAVING IN 1.5 DAYS.....AND I WANT MY COMPUTER TO WORK RIGHT.....so, am really mad at him and the clients (and if I don't file this paper by midnite, it is bad bad bad for them....)..

and that is my mood. Never rains but it pours

Another late night for me too. When I close my eyes I see lists scrolling by. At least I am off tomorrow and will finish running around.
Since I am the only one at work who does what I do, I have to get next week's work done before I go. Of course I was given a new task on Monday, due Thursday, and I am seriously thinking of not doing it since two other projects I am working on have a higher priority. I can finally take vacations where I do not work a couple hours every morning.
Good luck oregon; your computer problem sounds very stressful.
kileybeth: Prayers for your safe and pleasant traveling. I know how frazzled everyone gets packing and loading car before a trip.
Guess I will attempt to sleep; almost time to get up. I am going to miss everyone until we leave here Saturday.

It sounds like I'm not alone in feeling the last minute crunch stress. We are packing the car after work tonight and leaving tomorrow evening. I just realized my FE bags are NOT organized and I need to unpack all the FE stuff or I will be running from cabin to cabin and back again.

We re-cleaned the house last night and will clean it again Thursday right before we leave. The house is showing next Saturday.I forgot to buy/pack hand sanitizer so another trip to Walmart tonight after work.

Karen/Hanna-You are not alone I definitely have the same piles of clothing especially the "I wish I could fit into that pile". :rotfl:

Kim/Kileybeth-Have a very safe trip! Maybe we will run into you at the CIS. I love black too. DH bought me a little black dress for Palo.

Tonight is Pedicure night with the certificate DH gave me for my birthday. My pre-vacation treat :goodvibes I can't wait to meet eveyone!

Back to work :surfweb:

last load of laundry is in the washer/dryer

dropping off keys to cat sitter this evening...

oh crap.. every thing is done. WTH am I going to do all day tomorrow?!

We will be dressed up. In fact my son is wearing a tuxedo. It is being sent to the boat.
So go for it. Get that dressy picture!!

I LOVE getting dressed to the nines so we plan to bring the fancy schmancy outfits. and he volunteered to bring the Extra fancy schmancy uniform that requires a bow tie and cummerbund.

Makes an easy One size fits EVERYBODY on the Christmas pressie list.

hi all off to the pharm and lab! too fun! downstairs is CLEANED- mopped, dusted, etc!:cool1:

I will tackle upstairs this afternoon! one load of clothes tonight and a load of towels and linens!

just wanted to check in and see what's up here! realized I forgot to add the halloween bags to the overnight (hotel) suitcase...need to do that!

I agree, this has been the longest week ever!!

I haven't had time to participate in this meet thread but I will be on this cruise. I hope all of you have a safe trip to the port and have an awesome cruise!!!!! I can't wait :cool1:

So I got a lot done last night! Two boxes are packed and ready to be shipped to the hotel, the FE gifts extra crap we might need, the lotions and potions sippy cups and all that fun crap! I also got a small duffle bag with my clothes and the duffle bag with the kids clothes packed up but I am sure I will unpack and repack it at least two more times today! DH in his ever wonderful communication (aka I am to be a mind reader) thought we would also be in one large duffle, which is doable but he forgot to mention it to me out loud! We learned from our last cruise that the wheeled duffels fold nicely under the bed and save us the closet space! Of course we have started our annual “ I hate you” fighting matches before we go on vacation! But its all good… I think it is just one of those things that if I say I hate you it truly is a term of endearment at this point!
My house looks like WWII right now! It is to the point where I am missing things because the clutter has eaten them. The goal today is to get rid of the clutter, empty bags and trash! Lauren is not happy with me because she is spending the morning in her pack-n-play because I am tired of going behind my little tornado and picking up the mess! I got two tall laundry baskets up the stairs at the same time! LOL I am being lazy as you can see!
Oh well it is time to stop posting and get a few more things done, Nathan needs a note to excuse him from pre-k, I am trying to motivate myself to get some magnets for our door done, this is way down on the list at this time but we shall see! Our flight out of here is at 7am so it should be fun to see how this happens, DH is NOT a morning person!

Oh before I forget! Gabbie is a name that I picked up in College and it just has stuck for all my screen names!

Ok I am going now really!!!!

Okay, I am getting a little tense here.:scared1: I have packed DD stuff-except night clothes-the kid has to wear something to bed before we go. Have most of DH stuff packed;). He is not wearing a suit. We settled on a dress shirt, tie and dress pants:rolleyes1. He said he is on vacation and he blended in fine last time with it. I am afraid I may be overpacking, but, at least I will be well prepared:rolleyes:. ....

No suit this time for my DH either - this is our 3rd cruise, first was a suit, then a tux for the next one, and this time just relax and enjoy with dress shirt and tie he says. Not for DS8 though - he is bringing his TUX!! He LOVES to dress up and wore a tux last time too. This year he wanted a new one to fit and he used it for First Communion in May, he is so lookign forward to getting spiffy again!! As for DS10, it's hard getting him to even wear a dress shirt!!

Safe travels everyone!!

Hi Everybody!!

Just had to sit down and catch my breath for a minute before the marathon continues! I actually got to bed before 1am last night and it did some good. This morning was much better, stress and health wise.

It was so fun reading about how everyone else is doing the exact same stuff I am and how everyone is coping in their own way! Love that!

Big news here. I zipped all 6 of our suitcases. (one for each of us) and the garment bag (formal stuff) and put our port tags on them and got them downstairs, organized and actually . . .wait for it. . .wait for it. . .) put into the car top carrier and secured down! :yay:

Went for the prerequisite drive around the neighborhood, slamming on brakes for testing of shifting purposes, drove to a neighborhood over so I could excelerate to 60mph and cross multiple speed bumps and and it never budged! This was my first time ever doing this w/o the DH. The DS17 was a huge help and is so much like his father that I felt like I had the DH there let me tell you:sad2: but IT IS DONE! No one was injured in the process and no ugly words were exchanged, well, maybe just some exasperated ones.

Actually have total of 12 bags (including everything) but they all fit nicely and there is even ample room for our own Mac stroller, so happy about that.

Even got the cooler loaded (will just add bag of ice for travel drinks tomorrow when we hit the road) Drinks for family of 6 for 2 days prior to cruise? $9 or buying at every gas stop and rest stop along the way? $40plus dollars, no kidding we tried it one time and I have rarely since left the house w/o the cooler. I guess we drink a lot?!

Still to do:
Pick up and vacuum main floor.
Pick up and vacuum bedrooms.
Clean kitchen floor.
Finish paperwork piles.
Finsh last suitcase for overnight at port.
Take kids to youth group tonight.
Wipe down bathrooms and kitchen before we leave.
Set timers on lights to not freak out house sitters (yes, multiple, don't ask!) when they are here.
Catch few more neighbors and give them the skinny on who should/should not be in my house! Extra eyes are always good.

My break is over, and I'm back to my to "doing the list"!

Wishing everyone the best with your stickies and post its and list. Take time for a happy dance, we are going on vacation! :cool1: those of you still working, deep breaths, in and out, all will be well. Karen, hope you made your midnight deadline and all is well.

My DH is having a luncheon/party thrown in his honor today as his last day is tomorrow. He hates parties poor guy, let alone being the guest of honor:eek: There will be close to 100 people there. Oiy. He will be missed, the shock ways are still making their way around the company. He is looking forward to tomorrow and being "off duty" for the next 10 days. Then onto a new career!

Your to do list is almost like mine only I don't have the youth group!! Congrats on getting the bags zipped and on top of the van! My worry is we are going to be overweight on our bags.. two for 4 people! We are shipping three small boxes down and then two small strollers and two carseats! The only issue is what the heck to do with the carseats in the room! People tell me to keep them in the bathtub but that is a pain.. like what do you do when someone needs the tub? Or after when its wet... Or needs to be cleaned! Hmmmm do the kids really need car seats? They can sit up right!?!?:cutie:

I have 2.5 out of the 4 bedrooms cleaned, the "guest" room was next on my list until I went in and what do my eyes see but clothes all over the unmade bed! I guess DH is going to pack in there! So I vaccuumed and closed the door! Our bedroom is next which still has clothes scattered all over so it will be the last to get done!

Kids rooms are done and done! I am happy to report that Nathan has kept his picked up under the threat that if one toy hits the ground and is not put away it will be tossed out and he saw it happen yesterday so he knows I mean it!
My living room is done, Shhh don't tell DH but I moved the couch and two chairs. I have a bitof an issue with furniture, I like to move it! I like to have things look different all the time! But this time I moved it so we now have a huge space to put things once they are packed! AND he won't come home and trip over the couch so things should be good! *giggle*
I wont even go down the kitchen floor road! I think the tile should be a light sand/brown color but it is not that anymore! I have no clue how it got so dirty but it is my next task!

OK lunch break is over! Ciao!

Well I managed to get 2 1/2 hours sleep then DH pointed out that kitty has been urinating frequently and with very little output. :scared1: I think our vet is as frightened of our cat as she is of him. The assistant said we had not been in since 2007 so we had to bring her into the office for an emergency visit tomorrow. We do not take her because the doctor cannot even get close to her to listen to her heart let alone examine her. She is an indoor cat and no other animals visit us so we decided to forego annual shots and give them both a break. If she has a UTI due to stress this office visit will really aggravate her. Everything I read on the internet said not to
delay treatment so before work I will take kitty in and wrestle her to stay still while he gingerly tries to get close. I am sure my cat sitters are going to appreciate giving her meds.
Finished some errands at the mall and getting all the clothes out for ironing. BTW I do love to iron; it is such a mindless past-time ( can watch tv) and you actually can see results. After reading this last week's posts, I have to wonder how we women finally enjoy vacation. We all will probably be sitting in deck chairs with a glazed look on our faces, muttering where's that list...where's that list?

Just back from Magic Kingdom and getting ready to go over to Animal Kingdom. Every single ride we did today we had no wait for. POC, Big Thunder, Jungle Ride, Haunted Mansion, nothing had a wait. None of the food places had waits either.

We went to Pecos Bill's for lunch and they have a self-ordering kiosk. Loved that. Order what you want and swipe your card (room or credit card) and you're done. Love the Taco Salad. THey give you a shell and the meat and you put the other in at the toppings bar.

MK photos at http://picasaweb.google.com/uahollem/MagicKingdom02# the ones from this week are at the end.

We have been at Mk today too! I Agree, no lines at all. We are now relaxing at the swimming pool. We are having dinner at Lone Star Steak House which is next to our hotel. See you all Saturday :)
