9/19/09 Western Magic

On our January 2009 Magic cruise, we went to an all inclusive for the day - Nachi Cocum. We hired a taxi and had no problem getting one to go back to port. The weather was not nice that day at Cozumel, but we still had a nice time.

What do you guys think of going to Cozumel? I don't mean to start a controversy, but it is something my husband and I have been thinking of lately. We already don't get off in Castaway Cay, and I would hate to only do two ports. But, I am not sure as to how comfortable I am in Cozumel. I know there is an all-inclusive resort there, and if we do get off, that is where we would most likely go. It is just getting there and back and wondering around is what concerns me. Does anyone have any thoughts? Is anyone else nervous?

This too will be my 3rd trip and really have no concerns. The first we went to
Chankanaab and also done the dolphin swim at Dolphin Discovery then just in Oct on the Carnival Glory we went to Nachi Cocum and had a great time, only about 10 people there all day, and the food was good, this year my husband plans to dive and me and my mom will most likely go to playa sol. I have heard about recent kidnaps in Mexico but have all been related to inner mainland I believe, and I'm not even sure if its true because someone told be they heard it on the news, but even so, I'm not worried about Cozumel.

Hello All, I am just joining this cruise meet after switching our cruise dates around in order to save a a few hundred dollars so we have landed here on the 7 nite western on the original date we thought sounded good!

This is our first ever cruise of any kind on any line so we are very excited, particularly my DS6 and DD3 and me (DW45)! My DH48, DS16, and DD13 are coming along in the excitement department. They are excited to go just each with their own reservations (work, time away from home activities, and general fears of something totally new)

And that's the brief intro to our family.

I would like to join the FE list and all the fun if it is not to late. Also, need to know info about a dismeet onboard and any other fun stuff you all have planned (loved the idea about the paint chips, maybe matching lanyards would be fun, not so much into the t-shirt ieda as only my little ones would wear them not rest of us) . I am slowly making my way thru reading this thread but have yet to come across the day/time for a meet, just a location (promenade?). Also I have general knowledge understanding of FE and have seen a couple very informative post on this thread in that regards (thank you pfsih and yonkers I think it is?) and finally, Jandave, would love to see those Navigators from your Jan cruies!

I feel so far behind all of the sudden!

I'm off to change my night before hotel ressies, change my trip ticker, and read some more! Can't wait to chat with everyone.

For all WB Panama cruisers, do you know Holly (HollyTyler) from your cruise thread? She and I are co-workers.

Jan

Hi, yes, we were on the WB Panama Canal, and I know Holly well through chatting on that cruise thread - it is still going strong!!! We chat a lot on there. We didn't see each other much on the cruise as she was dealing with Tyler quite a bit and was at early dinner seating. It will be nice to meet you.

Hi and welcome. I haven't posted much I'm afraid and can't remember if there are any meets planned yet, but i am sure some will be arranged!!!

Hi Marilyn,

You look like quite the experienced cruiser! I'm sure I will be coming up with loads of questions for you!

Thanks for the wlecome!

I wish I was experienced. We did the Panama Canal Repo which was our first ever cruise we booked and that was the best experience ever, and because we had booked that we did a tester 4 night cruise a few months prior. I am hooked now though.:lmao: Just wish we didn't have to pay for them in $'s as the exchange rate is horrendous at the moment.

However, please ask the questions as I know if I can't answer there are others who can!!!

a tester 4 night cruise!!! :rotfl: LOVE the way you think!

I was looking at June cruises as I have a week with 2 teens away, 2 little ones with babysitting available, and a DH and I to celebrate my birthday!! sounds like cruise makings to me! But probably not. . .boo hoo

but WDW is still a possibility!

:lmao: My husband never wanted to cruise, and really wasn't very Disneyfied, so I was looking for something special for my 60th birthday last year. I found the Panama Canal cruise - the only one I thought I would ever get him on as he would enjoy the PC crossing day. I worked on him for a while, said no presents for my actual birthday or Christmas and he did eventually say yes. Well, then as we were already going to WDW for a couple of weeks before Christmas 2007, I started working on him again, saying how it would help us get used to the ships etc, and how I didn't need Christmas presents that year either, and he did agree.

Well, he really enjoyed it, and really loved the PC cruise and meeting all the friends I had met on the cruise meet thread.

The back2back in September are our 40th wedding anniversary trips!!!:dance3:

He does now love cruiseing, but not the DCL prices.:sad2:

We've always wanted to give cruising a try, my DH even suggested it one year for our anniversary or my birthday I forget which but he is a $$$ man and by the time I started adding in all the extras to those super cheap $199 cruise prices you see out there all the time, it was costing way more then he was willing to spend! :confused3 My DH is all about the bottom line. I'm all about good reviews so our carnival deal never happened after I read the reviews and he added in the extras.

Fortunately for me, one of his collegues (wonder how to really spell that?hehe) took his family on a Disney cruise a year or so ago and raved about it forever and said he would never cruise another line, everyone had so much fun, DCL does it so much better, etc. that my Dh was interested so I had an easier "sell" when I went in for the "marketing rush". :rotfl:

Our teens where getting Disney tripped out but had admitted to thinking a cruise sounded interesting. . .my younger two still love all things Disney so as they say, THERE YOU GO!

With a large family (we have 6 kiddos, 2 are grown now in their twenties (they are not cruising with us), two teens, a 6 and 3 year old, yeah, we are nuts) we are usually quite creative with travel, trip accomadations, etc. So we are in 2 cat12'sGTY and happy enough with that to be able to go. Should be interesting to see where we actually get rooms! My teens are hoping for a seperate deck! I'm hoping for rooms in the same hallway (what are hallways called on a ship? corridors maybe?). It will be an adventure for sure!

I'm hoping my family falls in love with cruising. My days of putting 10-15 miles a day on my feet in Epcot are coming to a close for sure, I'm ready for some relaxing time!

Now if this ecomomy would just turn around, wondering how much further down we have to go before things look up. :sad2:

They announced at the Annual Disney Stockholder's Meeting that the new ships will be called Disney Dream (2011) and Disney Fantasy (2012).

:dance3:

Welcome Kileybeth and family!!!

As you can tell in my siggy, I am hooked on DCL. I've had way too much DCL koolaid!

Our DIS meet is scheduled for the Promenade Lounge. Not sure of time, though. Past DIS meets, we've had success with a 3pm Saturday meet.

My kids told me I can't tell the grandkids (all 6 of them) that we are cruising! Four of them were on the Wonder with us last September. We're cruising with four of them (hopefully the other two will join) in November 2010. By the way, all my grandkids are under the age of 6!!!

Marilyn,

Happy 40th! Dave and I are celebrating our 25th on 9/22 (second marriage; our kids are 38 and 36).

Holly told me that she posted on your PC thread about me having a glass of wine or two. Then she deleted that part of her post! Don't believe her when she talks about me!

:lmao: :lmao: She is naughty!!!

She thought you were on the cruise before this one, where there are quite a few from the PC cruise. Only about 6 from the PC cruise are doing this one which is a shame.

Our kids are 38, 37 and 35!!

Hi Jan! Hi Marilyn!
Jan, I'm looking forward to meeting you. Holly has just given you a glowing character reference :goodvibes :) I also sailed (for the very first time ever :cool1: ) on the WBPC, but like Marilyn, did not have the opportunity to see Holly very much. We just kind of waved to each other as we raced in different directions! But we have chatted for a very long time time on our cruise thread :goodvibes I'm looking forward to meeting you! I am doing the B2B, so this will be my 3rd cruise :thumbsup2

My first cruise ever was the WBPC last year. You are going to love it!!! I have only had that one cruise experience , but I am going on the Tortola cruise the week before this one, so this will actually be my 3rd cruise, and first with my daughter. It will be her first ever :cool1:

wow, lots of you have done some cruising! Must be in the water on ship. . .I'll make sure my family drinks lots!

Okay so dismeet on embarkation day in Promanade Lounge at 3pm someone said?

and I will need to pm you JanDave about the Navigators?

and I will need to pm someone else about FE? I'll try to find that one in the thread.

Has anyone done some of the onboard uumm, what? presentations or seminars maybe they are called? I have heard about the galley one, and some entertainment ones? History of Disney ones? I would love more info on that kind of stuff.

Ok so DCL finally announced the new names. Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. kindof catchy. Dream in 2011 and Fantasy 2012

Hello again everyone.

I just saw a thread devoted to kids only for a specific cruise date. I got my daughter and asked her if she would like to start one for our cruise. Is there anything going now or is she good to go?

And would Irishcowboy list in the listing chronologically if I asked him?

Thanks! for any info you have. We are just looking for the kids to meet up a bit like we do before we sail.

My DD14 is the one most likely to do this. Altho if I helped him my DS6 would like to find a friend or two as well. Let me know if any of you have a kiddo this age who might be interested.

I have a DS who will be 6 on the cruise. He is a little shy at first, until he is comfortable with a situation. The only thing is, we are surprising the kids and they won't know ( I hope) until we drive up to the ship. i would love for him to meet some friends before putting him into the club though. Thank goodness he will be going to the club with my (very outgoing) DD who is 7. It would be nice however for him to make some of his own friends. Maybe when we do the meet?
