Hey, Paige - I got the glitter spray at Ulta - a cosmetics store with a salon in it. I got it back in the back right in front of the salon where they have all the shampoo, etc. The one I got isn't glitter gel or anything. It's just a liquid glitter spray. HTH :goodvibes

Denise - Hi! I hope everything turns out ok with that tornado! :scared1: Be safe!

Wow, 5 weeks at Disney!! Sounds like a great time. I hope the tornado passes quickly with no damage.

Hi again...

...I am logged as Married a Disney Nut- my husband's log in name - its really Tink & Cinderella:thumbsup2

Thankfully the tornado passed without too much damage here,,, but holy s..t I have never heard nor seen so much thunder, lightening and wind. Jus north of here they were not so lucky and reportedly one town has many houses damaged with one casualty and many injured... We don't have these here very often and if we do they are warnings that never come to real fluition.. To have them in and close to a big city is really something else.

5 weeks at Disney was awesome. We stayed on our Vacation points and for those of you who are not members and are debating it,,, it truly is the best thing we have ever done for our family. In fact we added on again while we were there.

My parents are getting super excited (and nervous) about going and getting travel health insurance for my dad was a task all onto itself. With that done, its the packing and the making of the FE that is left for me and of course hoping and praying for good weather.

Can anyone apprise me of how we will know who is part of the FE exchange - is there a list???

Thanks again

Denise

Denise :yay:, So glad you are still sailing with us:)

Did you have the chance to read the post about the surprise we planned for your parents? if not, you should read post #1378 on page 92 of this thread. It was Jonesing's idea , but I think that most of us here found it nice and exciting :lovestruc. I already purchased a souvenir magnet & Postcard from Madrid, Spain and I know many others will be bringing magnets and postcards from the places they live. Hope that will help make their cruise even more "Magical" and unforgettable.

I look forward to meeting you and your parents in about 29 days :woohoo:

Dennis

:banana:So I have THE BEST idea for T&C's folks.:banana:
Since they never took a vacation and didn't get the chance to travel (save repatriating to Canada) how about everyone (stateroom that is) bring a refrigerator magnet from the area in which they live? That way they'll be able to take a 'virtual world tour' every time they make cereal. ;)

My alternative suggestion would be for everyone to bring two (different) postcards from your area with a birthday greeting to mom & dad. Then, T&C can put them in a mini album or something

Opinions?

Additions are okay by us :thumbsup2

I noticed that our local TJ Maxx has several Kenneth Cole expandable duffels. They are the barrel style duffel and the to rigid ends zip together to form a 3" 'pancake'. If the items aren't too fragile maybe the largest Target duffel that folds down into a little pouch the size of at gallon ziploc bag.

Well if we have way too much stuff then I'll just have to bring some UPS labels from work.

:welcome: to the DIS! And welcome to the cruise newcomers! :yay: I was trying to explain to a friend that going on a cruise if great but it's just that much more fun if you know some of the folks when you get there!

OMG... you guys are awesome!!! I had no idea that you had come up with this idea... what a lovely gesture.. My parents will be thrilled with magnets or postcards and any well wishes..

I am so touched by this, I am choking back tears. I can't even express how appreciative I am ... another reason why the DIS boards and disney fans in general are such giving and caring people...

Thanks again and Hugs to all.

Denise

For those of you who would like to know my parents first names they are:

Hans and Ingrid - Cabin 6500... My dad will be easy to spot... he'll be the one trying to figure out the scooter without running into things.

:yay:

Well I finally got some things accomplished for the cruise. Wednesday I went back through our packed suitcase and made a list of everything else we need to buy and pack.

Yesterday I tried DS suit on him, now if he will not grow anymore for a month we will be good. I ordered DH and DS tie and vest for formal night and ties for semi formal night. I hope to get a great picture of the our kids.

I also decided on what to do for FE gifts for the adults. It will have a Texas theme.

So things are slowly getting done. I will be able to get more done starting next week when DS is in school.

Tink: will your parents have a FE? while we are not participating, I might be able to whip up a nice US Capital some thing.. I live in the BWA triangle.

I hope somebody remembers to post a one post fits all with all the meet ups and final plans so that we can have it to stash in our portfolios.

as for me.. 11 hours and counting. bouncing off the walls here heheheheh

Sure! :thumbsup2. I would love the company! I hope you don't mind riding in a very small space, only stopping every 8oo KM , stuck between VERY active 6 and 7 year old children for 24 hours  Just to let you know as well, we will be leaving at 3:30AM :rotfl:

The drive is the only part of the trip I am not looking forward too but we have had no luck with flying in the past, so we are not even considering it. It did go really well last year and we are hoping it will be just as good this year. Wish us luck!!

Where are you from in Ontario???

Denise

Yes, they will have a FE and are on the 'list" I am doing double the gifts for both cabins...

I just told my mom about the FE thing and she thought that sounded really fun... she has absolutely no idea what to expect..

The only palm tree she has ever seen has been at the mall or on a TV show and I can't wait to see her face when we arrive in Florida.

Going to get there the Wednesday before and staying at AKL Kidani Village...praying for nice weather so we can show them some of Disney.

Has anyone done the sight seing tour in Grand Cayman before???

I have no clue what light sightseeing activity to do in cozumel...any ideas??

Thanks to all

Denise

Nice to see another Canadian on board and we don't live that far away! We live in Kitchener and my husband works in T.O. and commutes back and forth everyday. We are in cabin 6522, so even on the ship we are close :rotfl:.

Pretty scary with the tornado last night. We didn't know anything about it until we turned on the news last night. It just rained really hard here and my husband kept commenting on how weird the sky looked.

Oh my gosh, I was laughing out loud at your comment! That's hilarious!! (great ab workout - thanks!) THAT is a great idea - I'll pitch it to DH!! :lmao:

Wow - we are night owls and sleep late!!! I hope I see you on the cruise!! :rotfl2:

I am sure he will be fine with it...I told my DH last night :thumbsup2

We will be getting up as you are going to bed. It will be like that episode of Franklin..the one where he meets bat and they have no idea that the other one existed even though they have both lived there all of their lives....sorry too much Treehouse TV ...not only is it on at home but I have to watch it all day at work, over and over again. Thankfully I have had the summer to recover from Treehouse TV overdose. NO kids + no work = sanity at last ( well I can pretend) :lmao:

Oh, I know Franklin well, although I'm not sure I saw that episode! :lmao:

So you work with little children I guess? Teach preschool or something?

:rotfl:My goodness, you all have been active on here. I promised myself to I would stay off here today and just check in periodically. . .

Jody, my van may be your suv's twin! Only we have those two extra people and their stuff too. Not relishing cleaning it out once we spend a 1000 miles on the road but also did not relish giving up $800-$1000 (price of flights for us plus rental, etc.) I could use towards other vacation plans.

Sinderelly, It is now my goal to get you excited enough to post a dancing banana. :rotfl: Maybe if we could some how make him a her and dress her in princess attire you'd go for the banana magic! Ah, well, we will just give you lots of :dance3: and :woohoo:

My DD4 actually thinks she has been to BBB in DTD b/c last time we were there we looked in and played with the accessories (bought a little crown) and as we were walking away, a fairygodmother stopped us and asked if she could give her (DD4) some magic and turn her into a Princess. She then sprinkled her with glitter, lots of glitter, long lasting glitter. . . and the look of awe on her face when she looked in the mirror was priceless. The glitter baptism lasted for days! through swimming and bathing. . . magic glitter it was! Alas, now she has her hair cut in a bob and it would indeed be difficult to get up in a bun without the magic glue BBB uses so a dusting of glitter may be all the updo-ing she gets! Look for us Gretchen! I've actually never seen that spray!

Oh and Jonesing??? Real men wear glitter. Yup, I'm pretty sure of it. Lots of it showed up at our last Pirate party during craft time for some pirate hat trim and indeed lots of men wore glitter that day at least! Don't fight the glitter.

And with those insightful comments (???!!??) I'm outahere. Have to attack the DS6 room today and finish up our wardrobe inventory, clean in there, and start the gathering of "stuff to pack" for him.

GTY is DCL's way of getting you to book and pay for specific rooms in higher level cat's the next time you sail. Monday will be here soon enough RIGHT??? It's all about the marketing, they are gold standard at it as we know full well.

Gretchen and are are sending our Dh and kids down together and we are riding down in peace and quiet......I will let my DH know that your DH and kids will be joining them...I am sure they won't mind. I am sure that 3 men can handle driving to Disney world, 24 hours straight with 8 children. I will make sure that I stock up on lots of drinks and sugary snacks for all of them

Oh, I know Franklin well, although I'm not sure I saw that episode! :lmao:

So you work with little children I guess? Teach preschool or something?

I do work with kids but not at a preschool. I am a manager at a 3 camera room portrait studio. About 95% of our customers are kids. In our waiting room we have toys and a tv that plays children's DVDs for when the kids are waiting to get their portraits done and for when the parents are picking out the portraits that they want to buy. The tv must be on the whole time that the studio is open. Some of the DVDs are Treehouse shows such as Franklin. We get busy and forget to change the DVD. Sometimes we can watch the same 3 episodes for a month or two or three at a time! :scared1: I have always worked with kids. I use to work at Montessori and then got into photography. I have also ran my own daycare centre

:mad:You people are nuts and I would never, ever travel by car with you....

800km = ~500 mi for our imperially challenged friends...20 minutes?!?! Seriously? When we relocate, that's our driving limit for THE DAY: we're alloted an overnight (paid) hotel stay for every 500 miles of driving!! If the new location is 1050 miles or more away then we have the option of either driving or flying (and using a rental car until our personal cars get shipped out).

Reminds me of cross-country drives as a kid with my father at the helm :headache:

DH laughed when I told him this. If we stopped for the night every 800KM.......It would take us a VERY long time to get to Disney. We only stopped for the night because we had to. We weren't sure how the kids would be or how the drive would be, so I had pre booked it. We got to the hotel at 10:00Pm and we had planned to leave at 5AM. We both woke up at 3AM and decided that it was silly to stay at the hotel and we put the kids in the car and left. The kids preferred to be driving as well. We told them that the longer the stops were, the longer it would take us to get to Disney. It became a game, like a pit stop and we would time how long it would take us at each stop and see if we could beat our last time. If the kids had become restless or asked to stop we would have but they never did.

:grouphug:

You know, I'm thinking we should have a meDIScal club section at dinner! All us sickly folk can get together at our own table! We can have DIS green MedicAlert bracelets and take turns demanding our fruity umbrella drinks! Alcohol? Well, I'm not driving and the doc says it's okay so.... BUT unlike the :snooty: Hot Club of the Minute in LA or New York, the only admission criteria is either a surgical scar or a bottle of prescription meds! (Says the guy who just picked up new bottles of 180 morphine tablets and 2 months os tramadol).

OOHHH I can defiantly join this club. I have two brand new, very ugly, large surgical scars and I am taking 15 pills a day. I also can not fit into any of my clothes, since I have been sick since January and haven't been able to work out, PLUS my stomach is so swollen I look like I am 6 months pregnant. I meet all of the criteria

Hi everyone,
Don't know if anyone else has the Disney Visa to get the rewards points. But I just called Visa to get our rewards card so we can use it on the ship:thumbsup2 and she said that it takes about 2-3 weeks to get it. So she is putting a rush on it just in case:hippie:. Just thought I would throw that out there in case anyone else is planning on using their card for OBC.. Off to dust off the suitcases and then I am sure I will find something else I need to get. It seems every time I walk into a store, I get side tracked and start thinking I need to buy more stuff for this trip.. THEN, to top it off, I forget where I have put stuff.. Even though I had a nice mountain in the corner of the room, I have noticed not everything is in that mountain..

I know we have all talked tentatively about when the last official FE list and map will be distributed and I was wondering if it was possible to do it by September 9th...the reason being I will be out of contact after that due to the wedding and pre cruise honeymoon. I hope this doesn't throw a wrench in anyone elses plans but seeing as there are other leaving early as well I wondered what the best time to distribute it would be. By the way, we are in cabin 7596 :) Hope you are all well!
